I spent at least 3years with Teacher between 75 and 78 I was not a member of his band( Africana) I was working with the band's promoter ( Osei Promotion). Teacher was a great guy but lacked good managements. He knows me very well as Mr. Osei's son or promoter boy, I was a teenager at the time, and was fun touring with a great band like Teacher and His Africana. Gone were those days wow. I missed you Koo Mintah.

A very talented & great performer on the stage ! Humble & down to earth. Listening to him, I have missed those golden age of music in Ghana. I remember his sexy, tinted eye glasses in 1977. Great man ! God continue to bless him & give him peace & long life !

The songs from these traditional musicians do not only entertain but also educate, admonish, help advocacy and especially counsel & advice both young & old about life & living. In the past these same songs helped promote good social/moral values.
Over-substituting these our traditional song with western ones IMHO explains some of the decline in our moral standards in our communities .
No ill-judgement of good, contemporary music intended ! Our traditional songs had their role in fostering moral uprightness in our society.

What he said about Fela is true. I saw Fela himself during a live session in his extended stay in Apollo Theatre, Ring Road, late 70s or so, get to the bassist and started screwing one of the guitar strings which he had realised was out of tune! Wonderful! I don’t know what the bassist felt but he continued playing all the while 😂

I think the interviewer did well too. He looks young and may not have been born when some of the tracks they talked about were made. I never knew Teacher played only for a short while with Ampadu. So he was not part of the original African Brothers.
The Nigerian sojourn was interesting. I wonder why he went to Lagos when most of the guitar band groups from Ghana went straight to the East where their music was more appreciated than among the Yoruba.
Wow! This presenter met an interviewee who can really talk 😂😂😂
