Interview me 🤪: The best advice for new comers would be to skip all cheap equipment and save up for the best short focal distance setup. Ex: AM5, Redcat, cooled camera and/or Air, mini pc or Surface pro to run it all. Also, I recommend you look at the planets and some other objects with your own eyes at least once thru your telecope because it's unforgettablely special. My favorite part about astrophotography are the incredible sunrise and sunsets us astrophotographers are forced to witness during setup and break downs. Simply stunning views. Something I don't like about astrophotography are the camera sensors all being rectangular and not round. Round sensors, sold by diameter sizes, would give us the full imaging circle of the scope and would also eleminate the need to rotate the camera ever again. Later, you could crop the image to any shape you want. Another thing I don't like is the astrophotography community on youtube not being united. Some astrophotography channels have almost 700k while others have only hundreds. UA-cam should unite us and we 'astro channels', should promotes each other on their channels so everybody can have 700k subscribers also. Thanks for the interview Luke. L.M.
That's awesome, haha!! Thank you ever so much for sharing your thoughts, you made a ton of great points there!! - In particular I really like your point about the sunrise/sunsets we get to witness- that's certainly something I enjoy too :-) Clear skies to you my friend!
I have such a set up except I don't currently own an AM5, currently using an EQ6-R at home, or a Star Adventurer for grab and go. I hope to get an AM3 or 5 or maybe an iOptron equivalent in the not too distant future. Most of my best images have been captured with this rig.
A pleasure to catch up with you and Chloe again Luke. Thank you for including me in your video, was interesting listening to all the different perspectives of our fascinating hobby. Keep up the great work buddy and look forward to seeing you in the future, clear skies. 🔭
That was a great watch. Quite a few people have got into the hobby fairly recently which is quite interesting. Like Rob, I come from the 'Sky at Night' generation and have been into astronomy for 40+ years. I made my first 'telescope' out of Lego using my dad's shaving mirror when I was about 7 or 8 years old, didn't work very well as you might expect but it helped satisfy my insatiable curiosity.
It was really nice to see the candid interviews you had with these gents. I really liked hearing their stories of how they fell down the rabbit hole 🙂 Was also nice to see AstroFarsography is still doing well after his long hiatus. Thanks for the video mate!
Was amazing to meet you and Chloe at last! Was a great to meet everyone else as well, can't wait for our Bulgarian project to take off! Hopefully at the next one we'll have even more to tell you 🥰
Great watch luke, I don't personally know anyone who does astro photography so its always nice to watch others discussing their views on the hobby. It's really great to see so many channels on U Tube dealing with our hobby run by people who are more than willing to share their experience and what they've learned. One piece of advice I would give to begginers would be to just enjoy the experience, and don't get down hearted when things go wrong, and they will, just take positives. I find trouble shooting problems can be almost as rewarding as the imaging itself, and you will certainly learn more about your gear in the process.
Hey mate!! You make a really good point there, battling troubles can be frustrating no doubt, but overcoming them is rewarding and a sign you have learned something!! 👍👍 Cheers and clear skies my friend
Hey Luke, I'm at work on a Good Friday, just watching your video interviews with guys in Astrophotography, I most truly say you did great, I loved the questions you everyone you interviewed,. Job well done Mate😊
Hey Corin!! Hope you have a lovely Easter weekend my friend, it was a real pleasure catching up with you at PAS, I only wish I'd have caught you at the hotel to chat more mate! :-) Thank you for your continual support and friendship mate!!
Thanks for the video mate, it’s great to listen to all the other UA-camrs astronomy stories. It was great to meet you, and thanks for the advice on collimating my Tak.
I really had plans to visit PAS this year, but alas, life got in the way. I find it really cool just how many astrophotographers who've taken inspiration from Trevor - myself included. What's even more awesome is that all of these guys are now paying it forward by posting their videos for even more people to be inspired by. Like you Luke, you're partially responsible for kickstarting me into building my own observatory.
Ah mate I'm sorry PAS didn't work out for you this year!! It would have been cool to say hi! 👍👍 I'm totally flattered to hear I played some part in getting you started with an obsy by the way!! That's awesome :-D Clear skies to you mate!
A very enjoyable video, Luke. Good to hear I’m not the only Galaxy guy out there. Nebulae are fun, but I really get a thrill from imaging galaxies beyond our own 👍
Nice Luke. Really informative and appreciated. I onboarded Astrophotography barely one year ago - next year I plan to come to the PAS. If relevant I can shed light on my approach and what I in round one ended up doing and acquiring 👍
Fantastic, hugely enjoyed your chats with the guys and hearing their experiences and insights. Please do it again ne t year and make sure you find some female astronomers to chat with. Helena? Haven't heard from her for ages.
It were great catching up mate at this years PAS hopefully we'll catch up again on the not to distant future, I know I've made many mistakes in this hobby & budget is also a factor which has made me struggle over the years, but I still enjoy doing it & the only thing I'd change is not buying the wrong gear lol. Clear skies
Hey mate! It was wonderful meeting you both again, as always :-D I agree RE: getting the wrong gear! At the start, I did a lot of that 😂 ah well, it's all fun and learning experiences!
