Mr. Muttley, there is no way anyone can save it but you. Hats off to you as I know you have that magic! So glad I've found you back on UA-cam - spent some good times watching the Vitesse vids several years back. Looking forward to the GT6 project!
Although I could restore this car, it would take far too much time and cost far too much money. I've only bought this car for parts to restore another MK 2 GT6, which I've already started .
Excited to watch your latest GT6 restoration, please make way more videos than the last one! Judging by the shape of this car, there will be a lot of work and content.
I don’t think this particular car will be getting restored. It’s more for spare parts for another red Mk 2 GT6 I will be restoring sometime in the near future
I'm looking forward to see you working on this project. Your skill on this car will be really interesting. I hope you do slightly more episodes than previously
To quote Grandpa in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, "That's a nice pile of junk you got there, my boy!" All it needs is new sheet metal, chassis, upholstery, trim, tires, brakes, fuel tank, cooling system, seals, rings bearings, carbs, generator. I guess everything excepting glass and the vin number... :) Kidding aside, I'd consider this a parts car at best, but I'm glad to be along for the journey to see this old classic rescued!
Hello Peter, This looks like a very challenging build, & definitely NOT for the faint hearted. Being a former GT6 Mk 2 (in Valencia Blue) owner myself, back in the early 80s, I'm really looking forward to seeing how you tackle all that rust, let alone the ancient mechanicals! Keep up the great work 👍
I do have a set of videos, restoring a Valencia blue MK2 GT6 which I will be putting up shortly. So it will be worth your while subscribing if you haven't already.
Just noticed she's got the occasional rear seat. Please do show what the lower bracket that the hinges attaches to looks like. I've been trying to find one for ages, wouldn't mind buying it off ya!
It won’t be for sale, but I’d be happy to send you a photo of it and some measurements if you want to remind me when I put the next video up of this particular car.
Tbh it did look pretty much too far gone but as you are handy with the metalwork we all believed it could be done in your hands.if it's a parts car may have a few good areas to save as repair sections for other cars ? As said we are all looking fwd to more videos from you 👍
No, it's not too far gone, thought it would be too much time effort and expense to restore . The only part left on it, which would be worth keeping is the roof panel.
@peterdunne8107 yes, know what you mean, amount of effort ,time and expense would outway the value of it,a labour of love if you are intending to keep but if not the case not viable,as you know better than me there are sounder other vehicles out there which would be a better option ?

I think this is the worst car you will ever do if you are gonna do it anyway, simply said you can do it...for starters the engine was nearly alive! Hope to see more in the future, giving you all the effort you need...! I know what you'll say, come on let's do it!
I thought already something like that, I'm receiving today a lhd Gt6 bodytub nearly rustless complete car but in pieces and another Rhd Gt6 complete and running but standing still for more then 20 years, I'm feeling lucky as you are, they're becoming very rare! I'll stay tuned as ever! Greetings Henk @@peterdunne8107
Cripes Peter l think getting the engine running is the least of your worries !!!!! I guess there must be someone who can supply panels? I know , like myself , you enjoy fabricating but hens teeth man that is way past "economical repair " . I have another MK 2 GT6 which is not complete, but the body is more easily restored. So I can make one decent car out of them both.

Hi Peter, you’ve certainly got your work cut out with this one. I’m looking forward to following your progress as I did with your previous projects.
Many thanks
GREAT. You are brave. I am looking forward to following the restauration, hoping to learn new skills.
Good luck.

Yes, I'm sure there will be
That will keep you busy for a day or two. Going to be interesting.
Yes it will Can't wait!
A bit of T-cut and It will just polish up nicely 👍
The owner of the car said he had already tried that and it didn't work. Which is why he gave it to me.
@@peterdunne8107 lol... Good luck. I will view with interest. MK2 is my favourite GT6👍
this was a funny one. never seen one this bad before. surprised she isn't seized.
The engine may not have been seized, but the carburettor's were.
That is probably the worst wreck that I have seen that someone said they were going to restore. Good luck!
I'll have it done by Christmas.
Yes, but what year? LOL @@peterdunne8107
I doubt if it will be this one

that is a rotter, more than a few weekends worth to get that up together
Yes, a few weekends more than that I think
Back on the road in a weekend😀
May be a bit longer than that
Most of that will buff out?
Wouldn’t that be magic
So how much did the guy pay you to haul it off?
Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to this project. :)
