Hi Laura, that marker is Amethyst, a very lovely stone! BTW thank you so much for having the courage to talk about your problems and just letting go, even when you are filming. Showing us what it truly is. That is magical and so wonderful! Because it helps us understand how others may be feeling when they have similar problems and not just tell them to pull themselves together and stop sniffling. Thank you so much!
I love that you are making a cat for your grandma. Imagining how happy this will make her being a cat lover and how she would have this little handmade treasure in her home almost made me tear up. 🥰 Hope you had a wonderful girls weekend! 🩵
genuinely cried with you in the last vlogmas video. i don't think i've ever seen someone go through the exact same things that I go through whenever i have to go somewhere that is out of the norm. the blaming your hair for not cooperating is so real, and i think (at least for me) part of the reason is that I have really bad sensory issues when it comes to things touching my face and then coupling that with anxiety over having to break routine and actually be around people-it's terrifying. i just wanted to thank you and all the other lovely people who related as well for being so vulnerable and for not cutting that out of your video. i'm so happy that got through it and are now on the other side looking back!
Laura, please know that your videos and generosity sharing your experiences are making so many other people, myself included, feel so much less alone ❤ thank you so much
I have made 11 of Clair Garland's animals + to make them more realistic I weight the bottom half + the paws. I just fill plastic bags with rice + tie then then insert. It really helps with positioning + also makes them more life like. Your cat looks really good already!
Oh that cat, what fun! I can’t wait to see how it works out. Penny is a lucky little girl to have such a special time planned for her. So glad the somatic breathing has helped Laura and I hope that anyone who has experienced trauma also finds a great therapist like you have. ❤
I Love that he calls it your Yarny Nest!! I have the same thing. I have a knitting chair and my notions and multiple project bags are all surrounding me too as well as my yarn notebook and my iPad. Glad I’m not the only one! Have a wonderful Girly Weekend!!
Yesterday's video was incredibly moving and I felt you are so brave to put even those difficult days online and opening yourself up to a often not so kind world. For many people who struggle with the same issues I think it's so valuable to see someone online going through the same things they are and getting out on the other side. My sister struggles with anxiety and overthinking so I really just wanted to reach through the screen to give you a hug cause it's so close to my heart what you're going through. Glad to see you on the up and up today! 💚
The last vlogmas video felt very real, as I have struggled and continue to struggle with quite severe panic attacks that feel like they last for hours. It's gotten better as I've learned to manage them, but it can be oh so easy to just spiral very quickly and without warning when I'm nervous or stressed. So, while my comments are for you (we must keep the algorithm happy), they are also for me to remind myself that there are ways to manage my emotions and feelings in a healthy way ❤
Good morning Laura, so lovely to have you in my morning here in USA. You looked beautiful yesterday for the party! Your dress and hair looked wonderful! You did it!! I feel so blessed by you and your videos. thank you for sharing your life, and struggles, with us. You are such a brave, honest, real, graceful, loving, caring and joyful soul. I love to see you with your little ones. You are such a caring, and fun, mother! I have 5 grandkids, 5mo -6yo, and I love to see your little nuggets from this side of the pond 🤗 Glad to hear that Penny is ok now . Many blessing to you and have a wonderful day. 🎄🤗🧶
Really felt emotional watching yesterdays vlogmas glad your on the otherside. Gave me an insight into how others view you when feeling like this. Enjoy your girly weekend. Know your never alone.❤
Love your Christmas vlogs, I definitely wouldn’t call them up and down, but they are real which is so refreshing. Great colour choices for the Maxine and I’m sure you’re nan will love snuggles with the cat ❤️
Really appreciated you sharing about your anxiety about the Christmas party. My husband's work Christmas party is traditionally my very least favorite event of the year. But he's with a new company now and the party is tomorrow, and it felt encouraging to hear how you took care of yourself leading up to the party. I probably will not be doing any karaoke 😅 but I teared up a bit seeing the clip of you doing it. What song did you sing!
I only discovered you quite recently (I think it was your autumn vlogs?) but you've fast become one of my favourite podcasters, and I always look forward to your episodes. Your authenticity and vulnerability is so appreciated, as it feels like a genuine conversation sitting down with someone you care about. Your vids are also so calming for me, and your joy is such a delight to watch. Thank you for sharing your life with us!
7:26 I get the ick over Santa moralism too, and religiously it just didn’t vibe for us in the same way as we had growing up, so we find talking about it challenging too, but have found a happy medium too and after “real talk” about the concept of Santa last year, our 4 yo is leaning back into the imaginative wonder of the Santa lore this year in a really sweet way!
"Brain thinking" was just the autistic experience of "not sure what word to use so my brain is just going to throw something together and say CLOSE ENOUGH!!!"
The cat is very cool! I’ve made a lot of stuffed animals but I crochet them, I find it easier for the odd shapes needed. Seeing a knit one under construction is very neat, and intimidating lol well done!
I had my first ever panic attack a month ago. I’ve had several since. I’m 27. I thought I knew my brain, and now I have to relearn who I am. Thank you for talking about it. It’s been very comforting for me to know I’m not the only one to experience this. When you’re in it, it feels so lonely. Thank you!❤️
Lovely episode as always. I've made a lot of Claire's patterns and most at the beginning of my knitting journey. I can only advise you to trust the process and the most important part is the stuffing and manipulating. A long thin needle is your friend for moving the stuffing around and placing it just right, especially for small areas (faces/paws etc). The cat is looking good already. I'm sure your grandma will love it.
I haven’t watched your latest video because I suffer from anxiety attacks and didn’t feel up to watching the video (thank you for the warning!!!) but I’ve heard you sing several times on previous ones, and oh my! do you have a precious voice! I’m a musician and I’m hypersensitive to sounds… Let me tell you, your voice IS a delight. Well… you’re a delight, really… Have a lovely day!
I'm actually addicted to knitting the maxine hwbc's 😂 Every year I try and make my 4 daughters something for Christmas and this year they are each getting a maxine or pumpkin spice hwbc and my grandson is getting one to match his mamas. It really is such a lovely pattern xxx
Your emotional/anxiety talks do really help. I was hit by the self-hatred and despair on the day of my works meal out. I went and bought a new blouse (more like a shirt, really) in a cheap shop (so affordable, and not guilt-making) and wore it with some favourite jewellery. The food was lovely, of course, and l felt 'put together' and 'appropriate' even if not attractive. Why would l need to be attractive anyway? I have been married 21 years!
I've knit Claire's raccoon, and I've got yarn set aside for the triceratops! They're quite fiddly patterns (and I was really bummed I discovered too late she'd listed the wrong yarns for the hind legs of the raccoon in the pattern), but I adore the final result, so I definitely think they're worth sticking with!
Your cardigan just solved a problem for me! I have a cardigan pattern I want to make, but I’ve since realized I don’t really like a shawl collar. But the one you’re wearing looks like it has a folded collar. That I really like the look of!
I was going to make my daughter the Claire garland cat because she mentioned missing our black cat that is sadly no longer with us. I ended up making her „my little purrmaid“ instead because I thought it would be more fun and take less time. I’m now thinking I might make her both :D
Laura I DM you on Instagram with a new heel. I believe the lady is German but she posted on UA-cam English version of her sock pattern it’s very cool. Diamond shape and you don’t cut your yarn
You looked adorable and glamorous with your party makeup, but I feel compelled to say (remind you, perhaps), that you’re a natural beauty. I know you need makeup for party lights and such, but you should know (be reminded?) that your day-to-day look is “just right.” Also - did you know - the experts in such things are starting to say that highly intelligent people are neurodivergent. So there you go. You’ve got another category to be member of. 😉Merry Christmas… and Happy Vlogmas. ❤

What a lovely experience you planned for Penny! She will remember it forever ❤
Wow Laura that’s incredible. I’m really stunned and impressed with you. Love you so much kindred sister.❤
Omg, The Red Shoes! Now you have Kate Bush yarn, Laura!!! You should’ve seen my face when you said the yarn name for the day 😂😂😂
So glad you enjoyed the party Laura. Looking forward to seeing the Cat finished, what a great idea . Have a lovely weekend with Penny 🧶🎄

Brilliant idea: F1 socks! 🏎
You held up the cat and I thought it was a kangaroo 🦘
Oh, Laura, I love the colors you chose for the Maxine cover -doesn’t look “rainbow” to me. And, oh! That. Cat. 🥰
"Brain thinking" was just the autistic experience of "not sure what word to use so my brain is just going to throw something together and say CLOSE ENOUGH!!!"
O My Laura. Penny will want you to knit her a Pomeranian 😜😜🐶good luck with that. ❤xx

You are wonderful. I was having panic attacked several years ago. Better now

Thank you for the advice! I’m quite scared of the putting it together part!!!

Great video Laura, every time you held up the cat it looked like a kangaroo to me. 😂 Could be my location. Cheers Chris 😁🇦🇺
Thank you for showing your food it all looks so yummy

Lovely wrap with eggs and veg!
I hope it helped to see that your hot water bottle cover is featured in the main position on the home page of Ravelry! Wow!

Merecedes is perfect color. Are you going to switch to red next season?
Nope! I’m a George Russell girl!
