TNS has received several accolades, awards, titles and umpteen honours all over the globe. Rasikas know them all.After his performance with Late Shri C.S.Murugaboopathy, his Guru's brother and one amongst the Mridhangam trinity, the audience was in rapturous joy. Those were the days, Rasikas looked forward to not only for classy concerts, they
would look forward to the critics' write up to feel the pulse, an instrument of feedback. The one critic who was most read was the indefatigable Subbudu, a no nonsense, piercing pundit at it. His enumeration was commendable and interspersed with liberal dose of humour and wit wordplay. Many artistes thought if they got through this "Subbudu"
test, they have come to stay in the field and regarded a good review from "Subbudu" an award by itself. If my memory is correct, Subbudu famously wrote admiring TNS prowess in laya, tributary header for the review was சேஷ்டை கோபாலன் கச்சேரி !
Let us enjoy a part of that concert in three instalments.
