Wildfire is incredible, but Zagreus is just another level. Especially the melodic/anthemic part after the solo is pure goosebumps
Followed by that series of heavy djenty riffs. So thicc.
I kind off expected the hades nod but I was still surprised when it hit

Looking at the album song names, the last one is “Thanks Nobuo” 😂 expecting some Final Fantasy or Chrono Trigger nods in there
@@igorqmoreira I was the opposite; I had Hades sitting in my library untouched for the longest time, but listening to this song made me finally sit down and play it. I must've spent 4-5 days straight playing it, I absolutely fell in love with that game. Super excited for the sequel!
As someone who plays Hades, I absolutely LOST MY MINDDDDD that they included the theme song

What I love about the song is that at 7:20, they include the sound effect when Zagreus, the main character in the game "Hades," dies. Definitely the inspiration for the song, and it's an amazing touch
Also plays when Hades dies. It's a sound of both success and failure.
It's the most prominent motif used in the game's music throughout.
Im such a sucker for melodic stuff, especially when Periphery does it so yeah this has definitely been my favorite haha

I guess the only "con" we might have for both the singles is attached to the prog idea, basically. It's not very beginner friendly and may be very hard to keep up if you're new to this world. With that being said, the songs are straight bangers and Zagreus is my favorite one.
That’s what I love about these songs, it takes more than one listen to catch everything and for them to really hook into you, these are awesome tracks.
Nah there’s no complaints loved em all the way through but wildfire is immediately goated
that isnt necessarily a con since not everything can be for everyone, and by trying to make it so it wouldn't be the same song
Periphery just isn't for noobs I guess. Jk, I just don't understand what "beginner friendly" means in terms of music

the solo on this song is just on another level, it's like John Petrucci joined in giving Jake advice again, like in Periphery 2.
The vocals on this track remind me of Finch, especially from Say Hello to Sunshine, I dunno if I'm just imagining that. I feel like that band doesn't get its due, that album was way ahead of its time.
It sounds like this is Periphery having ZERO f$*ks to give and I'm here for it \m/
Periphery is a band that I respect more than I regularly enjoy I guess. I don't know if it's necessarily because I find their music that challenging or anything, but I for whatever reason cannot get into Spencer's voice, even though I thoroughly appreciate his range, passion, and creativity as a vocalist. Still looking forward to this album though, it will definitely be one of 2023's most interesting prog metal albums for sure.

Strangely that's how I feel too. Spencer is a great vocalist, one of the most impressive. His performance on Satellites is crazy to hear. Still, I'm not a fan of his way of singing, of delivering words. It depends on the songs. I'm listening to their albums currently and they are many songs that got my attention more than others.
@@Ana7hema Yeah, his vocal delivery and word phrasing can be a bit too over-the-top for my taste, especially since he has such a high-pitched voice.
im in the same boat. i was a huge periphery fan when i was first getting into metalcore, but after hearing vocalists from bands like invent and currents etc. i just can’t help but feel like is screaming technique is just kinda…..bad? idk you can hear the strain in his voice, how hard he struggles to get them out. his screams sound like nails on a chalkboard uncomfortable almost lol.
his lows though were new, they weren’t bad tbh
He’s got a “zesty” voice. I hated his voice at first but I honestly really like it now.
That part that starts at 4:38 in this video really reminds me of Protest the Hero, Rody Walker kinda vocal lines
Spencer has mentioned Rody as an influence. That part is so PTH and I love it

Damn that poppy section in the middle kinda reminds me of old school pop punk. Panic at the disco kind of stuff
And the outro is very very Starset. Very Starset. Add some synths that feel like they're transporting you to space and then it's basically a Starset outro
The clean vocal parts in this remind me of the Dear Hunter!
