Lol, from the title, I thought that they were making the phone smaller and not shrinking the team. Already got excited about actually pocketable flagmen.
This! Was the number one reason I clicked for someone looking to upgrade from my iPhone 13 mini but the pocketability just can't be beat.
thank you for summarising the video , you're a legend 😭😭😭 coz I thought the same too
Exactly! So disappointed 😅
Same, looking for a small size pixel made me be interested by the video title 😢
6:15 This is a BIG issue. Pixel is limited as a phone in many countries, and most features are "US Only" or "US First." That is not an Wise Executive Management at all, and they market their Pixel line with "inclusive" phone features, like real skin tone colours and etc.
Considering how BIG Google is, and how much money the get through other means, I'm assuming they just think of their Pixel devices as, "free cash flow" in a sense...like they could go with or without Pixel...Which also supports their thoughts about the phone/features being supported in certain territories.
@@megamegaOthey're probably not even making a profit on Pixel yet
@@ChrisJohannsen yeah idk, I mean we ARE 9 products in .....soooo
@@megamegaO with single digit market share still. It's worth the long term investment but they have no return on investment yet
That's why I go with iPhone, most of the new features are available outside US, just a locale limitation that can be easily bypassed
Pixel 9 series has been more successful than a majority of not all the pixels before it. It would be stupid for them to chop off pixel now. So I'm sure this is just general trimming and streamlining.
Yeah I've seen more pixels than ever out in the wild, but then Google loves getting rid of really useful things
If it's stupid it's right up Google's alley
I wouldn't be so sure. I mean it's Google, they are known for discontinuing a lot of products seemingly randomly
So successful the 8 pro is the same price as the 9 pro right now?
@@ackliph It's not? Where did you see that? I got my P8P in January for $520.
I think this isn't as bad as people are saying
@wxracer23 They WERE, yeah. That's not related to this though
New ground breaking processor out in the Autumn.
I doubt they'll downsize the Pixel.
Quite the opposite.
The only reason I'm even on Android is because of pixel, I'll switch to iPhone if the pixel is discontinued in a heartbeat
Same
I'm in a similar place. The Pixel is my last effort to stay on Android. I'm the only Android user in my entire family and all my coworkers. My wife has been nagging me to get an iPhone, and as a long time Android user I hesitate to join the cult. I'm not a "Power User" anymore. I just use my phone for calls, texts, photos, and web browsing, which is why I went with the Pixel. So far I'm happy.
Me too
You should expand your horizons a bit. As a person who has been with Google phones since the beginning, they are so mediocre now compared to the competition. Its crazy how much better say OxygenOS is than PixelOS.
@@muyosoyeah I totally agree. I’m really looking forward to the OnePlus open 2
Love my Pixels!
Pixel fan here , I don't think I could really enjoy any other brand / company now seriously
A smaller team is just much better, having too many people work on a phone doesn't mean the phone will be better it means less precision work and I think this is a good step in the right direction.
could be right no starch press has a great book on the development of android and it was a very tight small team
Take DeepSeek for example 😎😎
I think you're right. I saw someone talking about the inconsistencies with oneUI, and how it's because they have multiple design teams who are working independently of each other.
I can see how if it's a smaller tight knit team everybody should be singing from the same hymn sheet, and working towards a shared vision.
How about not selling phones with processors that are 2 years behind & cost as much as flagship phones.
2 years? They are like 4 years behind at this point. Tensor is competing with Snapgradon 8 Gen 1 still.
do you see the difference while you scroll on tiktok all day?
Most people don't care
Only people that play games on their phones for hours at a time care about processing power. A normal user doesn't care just as long as the phone works as intended.
@@Shabobin People who care about battery life care about processing power. People who don't want their $1100 phone to be a stuttery mess care about processing power. People who want to take 4k60 HDR video like every single flagship has been able to do for years except the Pixel, care about processing power. It's a tragedy that the company developing android are holding it back because their flagship phone is the absolute worston the market with regards to processing power.
I thought this meant they were gonna make a smaller Pixel! I was excited for a small phone and now a little less excited.
I think the Pixel X is going to be a game changer for the Pixel series and maybe android. If they have a compact design, a large silicone carbon battery, Qi2 with magnets, maybe gorilla armour glass, new 3nm TSMC SoC & a price of under £1K or just over. I think Google is on for a super flagship that even Apple and Samsung would learn from. I hope you're ready and watching this Google. 🙏
Don't dream too much mate or the fall will be hard. Google mantra is to do more with less meaning middle range specs and lot of software features. I'm a pixel user and It's hard for me to picture a flagship level performance from those phones. You will always have just enough
Go for a OnePlus, because google is just not ready to have high tech phones... Like @jackFatal mentioned " you will just get enough" and under or above 1 k for high tech pixel? ( Not even in imagination bro) OnePlus can and showed us that they can. For a good price and high tech🫡
Pixel is going to have none of those things. They are still gonna have a Tensor, but maybe one that is SLIGHTLY more power efficient due to TSMC. They will still have the worst flagship battery life and performance. They absolutely aren't going to be lowering costs. They aren't going to have silicone carbon batteries and most likely won't have qi2 magnets.
"even apple and Samsung" lol, terrible companies could lean from Google yes.
we have lost all the google nest speakers in aus, i work for one of the biggest tech stores here and customers are asking weekly where the speakers are!
I moved from S24ULTRA to the P9P. I can't understand why ppl keep talking about performance this and Tensor chip that etc. If you don't play resource heavy games on your phone. The Pixel 9 pro is just as good as the S24U... If not better in my opinion.
7 years of OS updates...
Is that a threat? Google just showed Pixel 4a owners what one of their updates can do, by ruining all of their phones.
@@muyoso one should use their phone max 5 yrs. 4 yrs ideal as you need to explore the technology and new hardware.
@@prasadmankar7650I'm a tech nerd but even I really think you're better off keeping your phone as long as possible nowadays if it's not giving issues. There really aren't that much that changes with phones over the years now especially with the push to ai
This doesn't seem to make sense given that they're also rolling ChromeOS into Android and and potentially making a unified device
Yeah, they may be tightening their belts a bit, I can't see them binning the pixel phones
Imagine having the best camera then discontinued
Is this involving the monopoly/anti-trust lawsuit? Because if so, this makes total sense to me.
The second Google kills pixel I'm done. I'll buy an iPhone. I just got an iPad over the announcement of the death of the pixel tablet 2. Google's executive teams are incompetent.
Hell nah what is this. I want pixel 10
All they had to do was offer a version of pixel with real competitive processor. They could still keep the current processors to keep affordable phones.
If they are cancelling pixels, i gonna need a refund or a rebate for the pixel 9 pro xl. But im not going back to apple thats just silly. Not in the world where Nothing TM/Oppo-Oneplus/ XIAOMI etc exist . absolutely not. But two each their own
Yeah it’s kind of surprising how many commenters want to jump to iPhone if pixel is gone… I like pixel but the oneplus phones are amazing too.
@@grimer1805 yes I've tried to switch over to iPhones and I just can't do it. It's ok for a month but it gives me hives 😂
Came here, hoping for a Pixel mini 😔
It would be a sad day If pixel fell away from the market for everyone not just pixel users
4:18 is indeed creepy. Good callout, Damien
This phone does not come with a charger. It runs on electricity and has no charger.
If only Google required the same "speed and efficiency" from their phones as well.
This will be anlther windows phone situation in 4 years or less
These companies don't care about their employees.
Given that this year's Pixel sold quite well I can't imagine that Google are actually trying to downsize. They're likely trying to minimize costs by outsourcing the work.
I think your right mate, well established now, and can't be easy knocking Samsung and apple off their purch
I would love to see pixel coming up close to Samsung in terms of SOC. Power, I know that will never happen but one can hope. I want to see pixel videography being as good as Samsung and Apple 👍
You mean Snapdragon not Samsung
No clue why you think it's not
Ah man, I was planning on switching to Android soon, but was already skeptical because of Google’s neglect of the general consumer, now I’m probably never doing it.
After selling dozens of phones per year never breaking out of the "other" category in market share analysis, I think downsizing the investment in those products is probably a sensible thing that should've happened years ago.
After Pixel 4a problem. I decided never comeback to Google's devices. I don't even recommend anyone.
i already hoped for finally smaller phones again. feels bad man...
The excellent handling of Pixel 4a situation must be by the Apple management 😅
If the pixel is cancelled I will not use any phones
The issue is that the cost for pixel is not keeping up with the competition.
Most likely the us teams will downsize and taipei will expand. India should likely remain flat as they already have hired 2-3x more.
Voluntary exit is another word for you’re fired.
Everyone wanted a faster phone, not an AI phone. Notice how the pixel 8 pro is the same price as the pixel 9 pro on their store right now?
If google kills the pixel line, then i am seriously done with all google stuff. This time they went to far!
They never said anything about killing the Pixel line
I think this is just normal. I sense also theyre prioritising software more as (inspite of recent success) fewer people are buying new phones.
Speaking of Google, let's talk about Android tablets (bare with me).
Specifically, Google's tablet.
TLDR: The tablet was mediocre at best. iPads and other superior Android alternatives are present within and below its asking price.
[Long form]
Design alone tells a lot about Google's lack of idea when it comes to making their tablets, likely due to *lack* of "vision."
The tablet was clunky, ugly, and was not as powerful as its rivals. It targeted a niche so small, it faded into the air like a fart in the wind.
Here's the thing, a tablet isn't supposed to be strictly associated with multimedia consumption. You have to understand, nobody thinks tablets aren't for that; big screens, loud and deep-sounding speakers don't quite scream "I'm not for your entertainment."
What Google should've done was attribute tablets to... well - *TABLETS.*
• Make it feel like a slab that you wan't to write and make shit on.
• Make it portable and not a laptop without the keyboard.
• Give it a display that can conquer the sun and a battery that can last.
A big, thick, clunky tablet with an unintuitive UI that underutilizes and misuses its given hardware won't do that.
• Display should be around 8 inches large and is longer than it is wider.
- This makes it lighter, compatible with most forms of medias, and more ergonomic.
• Dense sides that curve into the front and back.
- Helps add that "premuim" feel to it and helps make it feel like a "futuristic notebook," (expanding on this later).
• Built-in stylus support and dedicated media apps for it, i.e: smart notes, drawing, editing, etc...
- This grants users the playground they would need to fully utilize the feature.
• Android, but for tablets (and not the current L versions).
- Give shortcuts to easily access features that fully utilizes the display (like edge panels).
- Improve Gboard with intuitive writing features (not fucking AI text gens).
- Put UI elements lower on the screen for ergonomics.
- Have a gimmick in theme with the ides of a tablet being a "futuristic notebook."
- Get more quality productivity apps on Android.
- Give it IP certification and promote it.
I shouldn't be the one who has to make these ideas. The first and foremost thing that Google should've done with their Tablets is to make their users want to bring it around. Make it feel useful in day-to-day tasks, because you want the product to become integrated into its user's lives just as much as phones have, but in a more positive way. This leads to success and demand.
Think about it:
You could be writing on a tablet the size of a notebook that has complementing features, checking documents, editting, etc... You'd no longer have to bring several books, notebooks, and extra papers ever-so-often cuz one thing is all you'd need.
Seriously, Google made such a fumble with their tablets, as if they don't have trillions of datas that they coukd use as a guide-Oh wait!
As much as I like Pixel, far too expensive for what you get. With shrinking screens and rounding of corners, they're moving away from what made them stylish.
I mean this already what Apple does. And their ecosystem between all of their products is something to be mimicked. Google is paying attention. And for years I have wanted consistency across android platforms and better integration. And I think this is a step forward in the direction for Android as a whole and Pixel as an up and coming staple for Google and Android.
Like Twitter, there's probably way too many people there than needs to be to run an efficient business.
I don't buy Pixel phones anymore because they overheat.
Appreciate as usual you guys keeping us up to date! Thanks again for all you do!
Google is known for the excellent photo quality, but they can't match the video quality of the iPhone. If that changes, Google will have the crown! VIVO is also incredibly good!
7 years of software updates going to get tested 😂
As soon as the Pixel is killed I am switching everything to Apple. That would be the last straw for me.
Yep. Google are renowned for this kind of thing.
Samsung better than apple
@Downfish12 No they're not.
Yup, me too. Without even thinking about it.
Nah bro, One Plus
Google is constantly launching things and then killing them off... They have inspired a lot of trust issues.
UA-camrs and redditora say that yes. Nobody in the real world though.
@@SchlumplesSchlumolomus-u9u Yeah ok, whatever.
Won't be upgrading my pixel 8 for another 3 years so i am hoping they will still be around then!
most likely they have things figured out, they dont need as much staff to move forward.
If pixel ever goes, ill join the nothing phone, purely for karl pei. Guy listens to his audience
With combining two groups, there is lots of duplication, so reduction of work force is always a downsizing. Improvement of the Pixel line of phones would be fabulous, like larger BATTERIES, charging, better fingerprint scanners as we are getting more seniors, finger print scanners on the back of the phone work great. Maybe I will upgrade to Pixel 10 Pro or fold, senior eye like larger screens.
iPhone/iPad users have no idea how important it is to have Android as a fierce and successful competitor. IMHO Google needs to STEP UP their efforts and be LESS hostile towards frenemies like Samsung.
I disagree we must love on different worlds. Apple sucks. I know two people with iPhones. New ones that have no signal at all where I have perfectly fine service (both Verizon). Plus their products suck in every possible way.
And Samsung may run android (vastly superior obviously) but their hardware is fucking trash.
I still used my pixel 9. If Google Pixel is discontinued. That Is Very Bad 😮😮😮.
Pixel 10a will be my last Pixel then if I decide to go Pixel again from my 8a. If not will grab the OnePlus 14.
I am a new pixel user and I want pixel to grow. So please send this comment to the ceo
Why lmao you think they care?
Ignore click bait dude. Pixels are the only worthwhile phones. If they go away then Install Linux, it'll be even better. Who cares?
Goodbye Google Pixel
phone…and probably all of its line up.
Samsung is the new road map for hardware choice.
Post update to android 16 my pixel 7 stopped charging. Service centre coated 30k for replacement with new device . Even if we buy in Market we get it for 27k. After power depletion how the device motherboard will die. I am unable to understand 🎉 pixel rock's people shocks.
I am really Waiting for Pixel to make a come back with its G5 processor with tmsc , hope it come true . Because I really want pixel to be the real Top tier in everything as before especially with cameras and processor
The only reason I don't want a pixel is coz of overheating issues many people face and complain abt. No proper servicing support in my country. Compared that to every other manufacturers having support and third party repairs available for it. Their chipset being weak af compared to snapdragon and mediatek. Also I'm now afraid after their pixel 4a stuff.
CEO needs to be fired
Me too!!! I just left Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max for the Pixel 9 Pro XL.
I don't know...I got a Pixel 8 Pro and I have to say I am pretty disappointed with battery life, fingerprint issues, and other software issues.
My spouse got a Oneplus 13 and it is miles ahead.
I tried iPhone for 3 years and I don't think I'll go back to that, I'll stick with Android, but next year I might get a Oneplus also.
Pixel 9 solves all of that lol; why even pick an older model now?
I mean, you’re comparing an older phone to a brand new phone with a processor that’s way more powerful so I think that’s where you’re disappointment comes in
Great software and a camera is not enough.... terrible battery life and charging speed, mediocre processor and over heating with poor service are keeping the potential user base away from pixel and google should act and act fast upon it
I'm Google pixel smart phones Big fan sir.🙏
Clickbaity title but the reporting in the video was decent. What they released was pretty standard PR and when two teams merge they would always need to reorganise to ensure they aren't duplicating roles and that everyone who is there wants to work on Pixel.
The headline is misleading and shame on them for creating this market hysteria against the pixel
pity me who speak English as 2nd langauge. reading the title, i thought they are making Pixel phone smaller 🤣
Thoose job listings are fake . stop showing that
7 years of updates, haha! By then, Pixels might not even be a thing anymore. Classic Google with their empty promises.
Pixel is a great product without proper marketing
So in pixals phone you can turn off/On data if the phone is lock why
Hate that too.
My next phone will be a Pixel again🎉🎉
They should go back to the nexus way and bring back Snapdragon processors. No more these pixels are great these days..
I thought they plan to make small size pixel phone when I saw video title. PS: Why phone makers not make low than six inches phone?
rly bro? 8 mins for this?
Which fool will buy when economy is down 😂😂😂
Google has been downsizing their engineers since last two years that's around 14000 lay offs (excluding pixel employees). Their software and services weren't impacted (at least the ones visible to the public. Your video will only create a panic and totally unnecessary...
9 Series so disappointed. Copy paste Apple style.
A phone between 5.5-6in would be amazing. I've been wanting a smaller phone forever now.
Now this is what I don't like: I bought the LG Velvet a few years ago. It was a beautiful phone with decent hardware and software, and it was pretty good for its time, and for the price, so I wanted to step out of the Samsung and Apple ecosystem and try something new, so I went with the LG Velvet. Unfortunately, we all know what happened with LG shutting down their phone department, and in response, they stopped supporting their devices, which was a bummer. Now I'm thinking about getting a Google Pixel Pro, but it seems as if there is some uncertainty about the future of Pixel due to this news, so I do not want to go ahead and spend my money on a phone which will ultimately get lack of support in the near future. this is a problem for Google because everyone was already thinking about Google not coming through on its promise of seven years of support, and you can't blame them due to the fact that google is known for cutting their projects, and now there are too many problems with Google right now. Sadly, the phones have performed quite well and been received very well, so I'm not sure what is going on at Google, but this is not a good look. With everyone anticipating a Google Pixel 10 Pro, it doesn't seem as if that is going to become a reality. The only thing holding back Google is its Tensor G3 chips, which are lacking in performance. I do not know why they have switched to their own chipsets. I guess it's a big ambition of theirs, to be able to compete with the likes of Apple's chipsets and Qualcomm's at some point, but if they know that their chips aren't as fast or powerful as Qualcomm's or Apple's chipsets, they should at least sell the phones at a lower price point. Because, at this point, they seem pretty much like mid-range handsets which is not a bad thing, the pixel is a really great phone aside from its chips.
Classic google move
Pixel was always a mistake. It further fragmented android. So many features that would have previously been added to aosp became pixel exclusive.
It was also stabbing it's partners in the back by directly competing with them and withholding features.
The Nexus program was what we needed, it kept the playing field even and brought us a wide variety of devices and as a bonus there were no widespread hardware problems (aside from LG)
Here's the deal with me. Cancel, substandardize my Pixel phone in any way then this puppy is moving to an iPhone. And if I have to make that move then I am switching to the Mac and going full in with the Apple ecosystem.
Yea I'm with you. If they cancel Pixel. I'm going full Apple too. I'm not gonna waste my time with Samsung.
As always craps... if the humanity is growing = much more reseach, much more competition, much more choices... it has always been like this since dinosaures...
Please make a video on android 16 desktop mode on pixel
Exynos.
i wish google pixel with sanpdragon ,
Pixel 5a is the last Pixel to not use Tensor chips. It uses Snapdragon.
@0xc4ae1e5 yes it is still very best and very nice phone , let see Samsung already adopted snapdragon, waiting for Google to join the team of snapdragon
I’ll hope there will be good so i can install graphene os on it
i want google pixel 10 pro with all features in a small size max 6 Inch.... Coming from 4a first pixel then 6a and pixel 8 i still think pixel 6a is to big and the 8 had limited features compared to pro version and i skiped 9 lineup because they are to big... they promised us that will be 6'1 inch on pro version and we got 6'3 Inch the same size of pixel 6a almoust and the pixel 8 feels better and smaller
Pixel phones suck .
I love my pixel ! ❤🎉
Does this mean the end of pixel?
Get rid of the garbage processor team, just pay Qualcomm
I don't care about sluggish pixel phones. I used to love them, in fact, I'm typing from 7 pro but I bet, I'm getting 16 pro max soon. I think Google should merge with Samsung if they can't produce a good phone. They tried w/the pixel 9 line up but that's not all. A lot still need attention.
*Pixels heat like hell
*pixels are slow
*poor battery management
*lack of global availability & services
**fear of discontinuity...
Maybe they should focus on their ads services.
Ai, enough said 😂
Maybe we don't need a Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 10 Pro Fold, Pixel Buds, Pixel Watch and Pixel Tablet. Maybe a cut back wouldn't be so bad.
You have no idea what you're talking about.
Pixel 10 series is definitely needed. It'll have Google's first fully custom designed chip that's NOT based on Exynos.
On top of that, it's being manufactured by TSMC. 😎👍
@PSYCHOV3N0M I didn't say the Pixel 10 series isn't needed. Is there a need to have so many variations?
It's a need I don't think I will ever buy any android phones except pixel.
