When I found out that I have stage 4 uterine cancer I suddenly was no longer depressed. I want to live because I never understood gratitude. I do now and I want to live it out. Depression is hard and no one can really understand your depression nor can they help you lean on God and try to practice gratitude. Easier said than done. I care and I will pray for you.
My mom plays this song for my son since he was 1 week old... now at 7 months it's the only song that calms him instantly!! Even if he's having a fit, he will instantly stop crying and listen ❤

The first time I heard The Prayer was on March 19, 2000, a year after this song came out. I was 15 years old and remembered exactly where I was, what happened, and what I did. It was in the evening around 6:30 P.M. twilight on a cloudy drizzly cool Sunday when this song played on through my favorite radio station, WPCH 94.9 in Atlanta, GA. I had school the next day and had a few hours to relax before bedtime. Those high school memories. Everytime I hear this song, it always brings me back to that simple time when I first heard it. This song has stuck with me during the difficult times. The lyrics "we ask that life be kind" is very underrated. In reality, life is never always kind to us, but the good news is that we can trust on the Lord to guide us through those tough times.
This was played at my father's funeral. Reading the comments makes me realise I'm not the only one suffering from a loss. I'm so glad it gives people comfort. I thought I knew all of the songs my father adored but I didn't realise this was one of them until my mother and sister included it for his funeral. It's a beautiful song with excellent singers delivering it. To anyone reading this, don't dwel on the past or the future. Embrace now and this moment.
On 03/17/2001, I was driving from Chicago area down to Florida to catch some spring b training games. I am a night shift nurse and love to drive at night and straight through. It was dusting with snow as I got near Crown Point, IN. I kid you not, I was playing this song and singing along. Just at the part in the beginning "and watch us where we go", the semi in front of the van in front of me jacknifed. I had anti-lock brakes so went into 360 degree spin twice. The van in front did not and shot directly into the jacknifed semi. I came to a rest just as the impact happened. I jumped from my car and ran to try to help. Unfortunately the father and pregnant mother in front seat had dies on impact. However in the back seat there were 2 crying kids covered in fine glass. I stayed with them at the hospital until family could come from Wisconsin. I still am in touch with the little girl. I had so much survivor's guilt after this. I would have traded places with those parents in a heartbeat. The mom had been a nurse and dad a physical therapist. The kids were 4, 2 and mom had been pregnant with a boy. They were the perfect family and here I was a single mom doing whatever I fancied. I was a Christian, went to church, went through the motions...but it was this tragedy that made me realize that God spared me. He had a purpose for me. This song, "The Prayer" means so much. It really helped me realize my worth as a child of God and changed the way I saw my life. When I hear it, it literally brings me to tears every time. That night I felt the hands of God wrapped around me.

Thanks everyone, yesterday was 4 months since he passed. I listen to this song as I sit here and remember him always. He’s always with me. I can feel his presence even if I can’t see him.
When young people ask me why my taste in music is so sophisticated, I play them this song. I then explain that this is the caliber of music I listened to as a kid into my teen years and what I still prefer listening to as an adult. It's a huge honor and privilege to have grown up in the era I grew up in. Being exposed to a plethora of beautiful songs as a young child inspired me to become a classically trained musician myself. Sadly the majority of today's youth aren't exposed to this quality of music anymore. Most young ones don't even know what high quality music consists of. What's worse is I've personally heard comments from certain millennial-aged individuals where they referred to this music as "cheesy" or a "snoozefest". I, on the other hand, view this as extraordinarily gorgeous. You just can't go wrong with the combination of Céline Dion and Andrea Bocelli!

As a Gen X'er, I grew up in an era where heavy rock music was THE in thing. Absolutely everyone was into it at the time. Meanwhile I was listening to classical/orchestral music on a daily basis. Heavy metal and grunge never really interested me, despite their immense popularity. Did my friends tease me? Of course. Did I care? No! I really didn't and still don't. Own your interests. If anyone ever tells you you're weird because your interests don't align with theirs, say thank you for the compliment. It's better to be weird than to conform to society. I played this song in the last moments of my Father's life... I feel it helped comfort him and cross over to the other side peacefully....
The first time I heard The Prayer was on March 19, 2000, a year after this song came out. I was 15 years old and remembered exactly where I was, what happened, and what I did. It was in the evening around 6:30 P.M. twilight on a cloudy drizzly cool Sunday when this song played on through my favorite radio station, WPCH 94.9 in Atlanta, GA. I had school the next day and had a few hours to relax before bedtime. Those high school memories. Everytime I hear this song, it always brings me back to that simple time when I first heard it.
This song has stuck with me during the difficult times. The lyrics "we ask that life be kind" is very underrated. In reality, life is never always kind to us, but the good news is that we can trust on the Lord to guide us through those tough times.

This was played at my father's funeral. Reading the comments makes me realise I'm not the only one suffering from a loss. I'm so glad it gives people comfort. I thought I knew all of the songs my father adored but I didn't realise this was one of them until my mother and sister included it for his funeral. It's a beautiful song with excellent singers delivering it. To anyone reading this, don't dwel on the past or the future. Embrace now and this moment.
On 03/17/2001, I was driving from Chicago area down to Florida to catch some spring b training games. I am a night shift nurse and love to drive at night and straight through. It was dusting with snow as I got near Crown Point, IN. I kid you not, I was playing this song and singing along. Just at the part in the beginning "and watch us where we go", the semi in front of the van in front of me jacknifed. I had anti-lock brakes so went into 360 degree spin twice. The van in front did not and shot directly into the jacknifed semi. I came to a rest just as the impact happened. I jumped from my car and ran to try to help. Unfortunately the father and pregnant mother in front seat had dies on impact. However in the back seat there were 2 crying kids covered in fine glass. I stayed with them at the hospital until family could come from Wisconsin. I still am in touch with the little girl. I had so much survivor's guilt after this. I would have traded places with those parents in a heartbeat. The mom had been a nurse and dad a physical therapist. The kids were 4, 2 and mom had been pregnant with a boy. They were the perfect family and here I was a single mom doing whatever I fancied. I was a Christian, went to church, went through the motions...but it was this tragedy that made me realize that God spared me. He had a purpose for me. This song, "The Prayer" means so much. It really helped me realize my worth as a child of God and changed the way I saw my life. When I hear it, it literally brings me to tears every time. That night I felt the hands of God wrapped around me.

Sadly George Floyd was high on drugs, had health problems and a severe criminal record. Breaking into homes with other men and holding a gun to a pregnant woman belly asking if she and her baby wanted to die, etc. George Floyd also had Coronavirus 19. He died from all those things. This Song played at my Dad's funeral it got me crying to the floor 😭
When young people ask me why my taste in music is so sophisticated, I play them this song. I then explain that this is the caliber of music I listened to as a kid into my teen years and what I still prefer listening to as an adult. It's a huge honor and privilege to have grown up in the era I grew up in. Being exposed to a plethora of beautiful songs as a young child inspired me to become a classically trained musician myself. Sadly the majority of today's youth aren't exposed to this quality of music anymore. Most young ones don't even know what high quality music consists of. What's worse is I've personally heard comments from certain millennial-aged individuals where they referred to this music as "cheesy" or a "snoozefest". I, on the other hand, view this as extraordinarily gorgeous. You just can't go wrong with the combination of Céline Dion and Andrea Bocelli!
I'm far fom being a millennial, im 23 so that makes me a Gen Z but I appreciate this kind of music, my buddies says im weird but i dont mind, to each his own i guess, my parents both have great taste musically, so that explains it.

The advice I gave to her years ago is to never let anyone change that. It doesn't matter what anyone thinks about your taste in music, movies, books, etc. If you enjoy a specific genre, then continue to enjoy it.
As a Gen X'er, I grew up in an era where heavy rock music was THE in thing. Absolutely everyone was into it at the time. Meanwhile I was listening to classical/orchestral music on a daily basis. Heavy metal and grunge never really interested me, despite their immense popularity. Did my friends tease me? Of course. Did I care? No! I really didn't and still don't. Own your interests. If anyone ever tells you you're weird because your interests don't align with theirs, say thank you for the compliment. It's better to be weird than to conform to society. Never be afraid to be yourself. 🙂
