For years, I've been packing my shoes in the plastic bags that clothes are individually packaged in when I order them online. Each shoe (not pair) gets it's own bag so I can line the bottom sides of my suitcase with them. Works beautifully, they're free & I love having another use for these bags instead of just tossing them in the trash.
The most important accessory for me (I have very fair skin) is a sunhat. I have a fabulous hat that collapses into itself and packs flat. Best invention ever!
Hey Laurie, Instead of bandaids for spots on feet when shoes that rub, use rigid strapping tape. My dancer daughter gave me that tip. It sticks much better and you can make it as long as you need to keep it sticking too.
Laurie, I did the “shakey shakey” trick this morning once my backpack was filled. Gave me enough room at the top to put my husband’s rolled up windbreaker in there! Thanks for that tip!
I take moleskin for blister prevention (or when you have one). This was recommended to my daughter when she was entering boot camp, and it's served our family for years. Thanks for all the tips! This one was filled with them!
Thank you, Laurie🤗 After watching this I am getting warm weather fever. It’s 36° here😂 I ordered your sunglass case, Lambskin pocket bags, Waterproof wet bags. I have the cell phone thermal case, towel clips and cup holders saved for later. I do not think at 36° I will need them anytime soon. 🤣🤦♀️ Thank you… Enjoy your journey in life and please keep sharing your valuable travel tips.
Hi. For sunscreen, sticks are a great option to lessen the amount of liquids. Always take sunscreen with you. It’s always more expensive at the beach. Also a coco butter stick is a great alternative for “liquid” lotion.
Hey Laurie - another great video & SO timely, as tomorrow, we leave for TWO weeks to Playa del Carmen. Your tip for not having to pack shoes together is a TOTAL game changer, as both the hubs & I are sharing a large checked suitcase & his shoes are big. I separated them into different bags & shoved into the rounded corners of the suitcase & WHAT a difference! Also, wanted to mention how great your tip was - last year - when we went away for 2 weeks as well to Mexico & I used the "open up the ironing board to use as a secondary large shelf" trick to help me as there is not much room for storage in the hotel. I'll be using that again tomorrow when unpacking! ;) Thanks for such awesome tips, tricks & common sense advice. :)
Wonderful as always Laurie! I may not be going on a beach vacation any time soon but there are 2 products I’ll definitely be getting: the scalp SPF spray & the Trader Joe’s facial SPF cream. As a “woman of a certain age” I have super-short white hair & very fair skin so they’ll be invaluable on my daily power walks in the summer. Thanks so much for all of your of your travel tips!
Great tips! This Spring Break we'll be in the Pacific Northwest! 😅 Average high of 59° Farenheit!!! I'll use some of these tips for our next vacay to Grenada!
Hi Laurie. Just got back from a trip today. Bought that shampoo/soap bar bag based on your recommendation. It is amazing how well it works. Thanks for the tip!
Hi, Laurie! I have been watching your videos for a while and have always loved the shorts you share. I recently lost a good bit of weight and needed shorts for summer. I ordered all 5 available colors from Nordstrom Rack and I just got them today. I’m so excited for warmer weather so I can use them! Thanks for sharing your finds!
I love your videos!! The Matador soap/shampoo bar bag are magic! I bought all kit, but now, I just travel with this one too! And all my creams I put in old Contact Lenses cases! I do have also the Nomad Lane Tote, but I think is the first version. I am experiement this tote vor my travels and I think it will be my oficial Personal Bag from now on. And I am reducing my travel luggage with a lot of your tips. And, like you, I also travel with the caviat from Standby.
We loved Secrets (The Vine is newest that we stayed in) in Cancun and in Puerta Vallarta is a hotel all inclusive that was totally fine for a 3 day for us: Hotel Ziva.
Try the city of Merida it's in the Yucatan Peninsula. What a wonderful city to visit, one of the jewels of a serene safe city in the whole country of Mexico. Try a UA-cam video, you'll fall in love!
I have been thinking about that b/c I did that to Belgium. I did end up joining a group so that is a great place to start. What are the main fears or questions you would search for?
My daughter uses Korean beauty products. She recommended Round Lab sunscreen for the face. It’s excellent, not sticky and doesn’t smell. I have very sensitive skin and allergies.
Hey Laurie! Just found your channel. These are some really great tips. We're not traveling far from home for Spring break but you did remind me of something I do need to remember for when we go to the beach or the lake. Also I noticed your in the Houston area to LOL Nice to meet a fellow Houstonian 😁👋
Hi Laurie! I have been watching your channel for some time.....And I watched one of your videos that spotlighted a mini travel first aid kit. For the life of me I can't locate a link to that Amazon find. Can you help me out with that link. MUCH appreciated. PS...Keep up the GREAT JOB of sharing with us.
I have that makeup bag from Scout. I love it. You use the side pockets more than you think. One side I put my brushes. The other side I put my brow items. So convenient. 👍
Hi Laurie, this isn’t about a beach, more about cables on a plane. I always have a power bank, a magnetic one and additional cables with me. If I need to use the plug in cable for my phone or tablet, it’s impossible to keep a US prong plug in place. Every one of the plane outlets cannot hold the prongs. They’re loose, the prongs fall out and it becomes a challenge trying to get power to a device. I always make certain all devices are fully charged prior to boarding. But on a long flight eventually I have to use the outlet. Do you have an idea or a hack that could work?
You could...pack blue tap to keep it in the socket. I have had some stripped outlets too. I always have my charger just in case. Mine has enough juice to charge twice: amzn.to/3OH2oec
I may have said this in this video or the previous one, but I think I may be a tote bag gal. I am loving this bag! I thought I would never be turned from backpacks. I think I can fit more in the gray backpack? The fabric, the smushy-ness, the light fabric...and how it feels easy to throw over my arm...I love it.
My husband has used this for years b/c the flapping thing easily magnetizes when drinking so it doesn't flap back down on your face if that makes sense: bit.ly/49cZeXA
Hi, Laurie. In the U.S., and in other countries, prescribed narcotics, prescribed controlled drugs of any kind MUST be in their own prescription bottles. We've addressed this before. Most places will detain first, question later. In fact, my bestie and I were leaving Mexico, and she was detained at customs. Her Vicodin was, thankfully, in the bottle. If they weren't, she'd have been in serious trouble. They detained her for a long time. VERY scary. She was suddenly gone. Not a risk worth taking. Most ethical doctors and pharmacists will inform people accordingly.
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie Oops, I thought I was commenting on your short clip “Tips for hats on vacation” but somehow landed here on your full video “Spring break 2024”. Anyway, curious if you had a packing tip or hack (besides just wearing it) for a hat that is not foldable, has a stiff rim. No worries if none. Thanks always!
Hey! On these videos I can put links but not the vertical ones. Okay so pack the hat upside down and fill it with things that would fit that shape like a dress, a bra and socks.@@jrs2024
Hi Debbie and welcome. I have a Lush store near me-not online. You could call them; there are some brands on Amazon but I have drier scalp so I went in and boy oh boy do they know their stuff.
Hi! Thanks for responding! Unfortunately we don't have a Lush store nearby. Do you know of any other bar shampoo and conditioner that your followers buy that is great for airplane travel and that they are happy with?@@TravelTipsbyLaurie
Hi Laurie, been watching your videos for some time now and, have learned so much. Thank you I was wondering if you or any followers know anything about traveling to Mexico with your pet. I'm a bit confused on returning home with my dog. Do I need to get a health certificate from a Mexican vet before I go home with my dog? I know that going to Mexico you no longer have to have one but, not sure on coming home. Thank you for any information you can give. Fran
Hi Fran. It may be in your airline's info. I would search their rules. But in Mexico, if you are on an American airline, they should have contracted employees there. But research that airline + in-cabin pets.
So an oversized purse is about the size airlines allow now? If I add the height, width, and length and it equals (or smaller than) the airlines height, width, length is that safe? My point/question is it can be a little hard to find a personal carry on in the *exact dimension* the airlines allows.
I’ve never had an issue with packing individual lens wipes in my personal item bag as they don’t count as liquids. A tip is if it retains its shape out of its tube or pkg, it’s not classified as a liquid.
Laurie - can you advise about sunscreen? We normally use one that is an aerosol because my family is allergic to many sunscreens. Normally drive. Flying this time and concerned about it exploding. Doesn’t make sense to have it delivered bc we are literally gone for 2 days. Will it explode if checked?
Ha! You must not wear progressives! I would need a triple glasses case! Neutrogena Faces is my favorite sunscreen! Also, wear your tennies for walking and pack a pair of flip flops for the beach!
Embarrassing female question for you. If I am bringing carry-on only, but need Replens moisture applications, how can I bring enough without going over the maximum for liquids? I would buy at my destination, but am unsure if I can buy this in S. Korea. 😢
Cut the shampoo bars. You don't need to take the whole thing. Same if you like bar soap. You can also use a badge holder clip for hats. As long as you don't mind the clip.
My mother just flew from West Virginia to Florida and they made her check her backpack or carry on the flight attendant told her it was a new rules. She flew allegiant airline.
Hi Laurie 👋 tfs ❤ Wonderful tips as always 🎉 the phone protective case, what a great idea. My phone gets hot 🔥 all the time. I love the Dr. Scholls shoe padding tape (that comes in a dispenser). I just use super glue to make sure it lasts.
Shower caps to cover my shoes has been a game changer! I get a group of 10 from Dollar Tree and just toss them or reuse them for my next trip.

Ooh, I forgot about that one. Need to share it again. Have a blast!
I really like the towel bands instead of towel clips. Less space usage in the luggage.
For me I returned them surprisingly. They also seemed rubbery.
I was convinced to switch to the towel band. It takes up zero room and arguably works even better. 😀
I did not care for the ones I bought-they seemed too rubbery.
I love the tip where you put make up removal on cotton!!!!! I will do that in my next trip. Thanks

Korea. 😢
I think you can get a prescription version, sorry don't remember the name. Rx liquids do not follow 311 rule.
I just do not know. Would it be worth checking a bag? Did you see the comment below?
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie My doctor wrote a prescription for the otc meds. Contemplating checking a bag to avoid any problems though.
@@KAT00035oh that should work.
When is spring break? I want to avoid that mess. I need to travel first part of April
It’s usually around Easter.
Cut the shampoo bars. You don't need to take the whole thing. Same if you like bar soap.
You can also use a badge holder clip for hats. As long as you don't mind the clip.
I have also tried shaving them. But cutting is a great option.
my wife loves her mineral sunscreen, it goes on like face powder, and of course, I don't remember the name, but I remember I was able to google it.
Q: Laurie, how many weeks a year do you travel?
Ha since my son is college age, we have flown so often the past 6 months! But some trips are 2 days lol.
You went to Mexico???? Very brave
Hi, it was our second time in less than a year. I made a video for those who are nervous: ua-cam.com/video/KtEKFHPb9WE/v-deo.html
Aruba Suncreen is very expensive and you Need Reef safe stuff
Laurie, just to let you know the discount code for Amazon dresses doesn’t work. Says “invalid code.”
Thank you so very much!
My mother just flew from West Virginia to Florida and they made her check her backpack or carry on the flight attendant told her it was a new rules. She flew allegiant airline.
Hmmm that sounds awful.
I just want to mention that mineral sunscreens are reef-safe.
Hi Laurie 👋 tfs ❤
Wonderful tips as always 🎉 the phone protective case, what a great idea. My phone gets hot 🔥 all the time.
The sunscreen spray for scalp is great 👍 i need to pick that up for my cancer head... my head and hair get sooooo hot that i dont always like to wear a hat or cover it. Love tbe idea of scalp spray. Beats the goopy sunscreen cream ive been using. Lol 😀
It works great on your scalp! Yes, it's really that my phone shuts off when it gets hot-so annoying. That is why it is a must have for the beach.
❤❤❤❤
I just came back from iraq🙂I got bulled like 5 times
Sudafed can be used to make meth so they probably don't want more in the country 😂
Great video Laurie!
Do you bring your own beach towel?
I have before but cannot find a link. It is a microfiber type one that my brother in Savannah has had for years. It repels sand too.
