When catastrophe strikes, we can’t help asking, “why did this happen?” The question keeps us awake at night and relentlessly follows us through our day.

Maybe we hope that if we could only find the answer to “why” something happened we could restore order again by making sense out of the senseless disorder of our pain. The instinct to ask “why” runs deep and seems to have an energy all its own.

But tidy answers to life’s painful questions are few and far between, and even when we do get them they rarely bring the relief or healing we hoped they would.

I think of Job sitting in the wreckage of his life wrestling with his friends over the question of why it all happened, trying to make sense of it. When God shows up, he says plenty but never offers answers to their questions. Instead, He offers Himself.

At the end of the story, Job says, “my ears had heard of you, but now my eyes have seen you…” And that seems to have been enough.

God’s presence so often quiets our questions, which must mean that this is what we desire most-more than an answer, more than reasons, we want to know and feel that God is present with us.

I am tempted to put my hope in answers, but in and of themselves they don’t satisfy my deepest need the way the sense of God being intimately here with me does. The place where God meets with me is where healing happens.

“Remind Me You’re Here” explores the wrestling, the questions, and the abandoning of my need for answers in favor of the assurance that, whether an answer comes or not, God is with me.

Amen. I lost my dad in August 2019 and 6 months later my mom passed from cancer. I miss them dearly but I'm grateful and have hope that I will see them again because they're both with our Lord Jesus Christ.
And only believers can truly say this because the Lord is our hope. ❤

Beautiful song. It is exactly what I have been through. My wife died on active duty in the Navy in 2014. She had a brain tumor that unfortunately had no cure. She was buried in Arlington National Cemetery with full honors. I miss her but the Lord has shown me many tangible miracles before, during and after her death. I have a Christian spiritual book coming out in late 2020. May the Lord bless all of you.

It's hard to fully appreciate this song without going through a deep trial. But wow, all the feelings and emotions are captivated in the lyrics. Those moments of full surrender... of complete trust amid chaos. Beautiful song.

Amen! Sometimes I play this 3-4 times in a row and simply cry. To finally get to the place in your life that no matter the size of the storm you can honestly say thy will be done. To finally know what it means to say Jesus is enough. No more questioning.
This song reminds that my God is an awesome God and He IS HERE! King David asked the hard questions, he said the quite parts out loud and God was his comfort, his peace, and shelter. God can take it when we lament. He can relate to our pain and heartache, understands our anger, Isn’t afraid of our doubt. He is the one true God of all.

My husband Jeff died of covid-19 on April 6, 2020. This song has ministered to me so much. Especially the part where it says that reasons don’t wipe away tears. Jeff and I were together 36 years. He
got covid and two weeks later we thought he was getting better. Just had a telemedicine appointment with the doctor, 2 hours later he died of a massive heart attack caused by the covid. Be encouraged for He is always here by our side, as He saidin Deuteronomy 31:6 and Matthew 28:20 : " And lo, I am with you always, even at the end of the age". You might feel down for many reasons, but God hasn't left your side, He is still walking with you, protecting you. If you want a proof, just see that you're still breathing :)

You have such a strong calling Jason. I thank God that you have listened, heard it, and wrestle with self to continually answer it. After many years of dysfunctional and tumultuous relationship with my father, who really was a wonderful god fearing man, we both learned to seek reconciliation boundaries and love in 2016. In Oct 2019 I moved him into my home. After a long day of hanging out and cooking with him I went to the store to get ice cream before watching a movie... when I returned I thought he was stretching/praying on the couch with his knees on the floor (he did this often due to a severely broken back)... when I spoke he didn't answer. He was cold and non-responsive. In a mere moment, everything shifted. It went from me being present in my house with my father... to him being present with HIS in his Father's house! That was on Jan 25, 2020. Anyways, Jason your music has been a vehicle for God's tender loving kindness and mercies for me for years as I have struggled with Life's terms as a person in recovery from drug addiction since Oct of 05. Blessings on your music of ministry and the sacrifices you make to stay focused on your calling. That is no small victory.

I heard this song differently than most. I am 58 years old and my parents separated twice ending in a chaotic divorce. Our family exploded in front of our eyes - the two people we loved the most HATED each other. There were weddings that were private for my sister and me because my parents couldn’t “handle it” together. Separate locations for holidays….the divorce never ends for children. It was a death without a funeral…😢
Yesterday, I celebrated 31 years of marriage. I am grateful.

A few months ago, our church studied the book of Job. My main takeaway has been that what Job really wanted was to know God was still with him, and that we as believers need to first be there for those who are suffering rather than judging them. Of course Jason Gray has that message in a song.

I had no idea where my life was going and I have severe depression and anxiety and I just felt like I couldn’t go on because God was not answering I was praying and praying for months, but because I made a mistake God told me not to take and I knew what He wanted me to but actively ignored it and did the mistake intentionally because I thought it would help me more than what he wanted me to do. And He just showed me He hasn’t abandoned me yet. Thank you God, I’m sorry I didn’t listen. Thank you for letting me know you’re here.

The second verse is one of the best in all music. Hearing everything happens for a reason is not comforting because God did not will you to get hurt. His passive will and gift of free will to us is why we end up hurting each other, and we may never know the reasoning behind another's actions. What we do know is God still works miracles and can bring good from any situation. The other part talks about how we can choose to view God in the midst of suffering. "Cruel if you planned it" is viewing God as a tyrant instead of omni-benevolent and "weak if you allowed it to be" is a thought that can cause some to stop believing. No matter how angry and confused we get, we must cling to Him because He has a lot of good planned for us.
