I commented on your last video, still level 0 (almost a month in)! 😂. I’m only 25 and I know why exactly what you mean by “makes you a better shaver.” At first I’m was so confused and puzzled, realized it was all about the angles (pause). But in all seriousness what helped me a lot though, was change how I was holding it. 6s made me take it personal and never been so eager to get better at it. Luckily being active duty a year prior my skin was still tough due to the daily shaving of the Gillette razors, so I was used to the little nicks and cuts. I really can’t thank this channel enough and support this as easily best channel for shaving, closely second is geofatboy, and Sinatra just for his whole personality!
Dave just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your channel and attention to detail which is top notch! I’m a former elementary teacher and I know an excellent presenter when I see one. I’m 39 and had given up shaving due to irritation and bumps on my kneck. I would trim to a low stubble and use a cartridge razor around my upper and lower lip area. After watching five or six of your videos, I jumped in to wet shaving and can’t believe the difference! I’m using a Rockwell 6C with Taylor of old bond with Astra SP or Nacet blades and getting great results! I’ve found mapping my face and having a two pass plan is key, as chasing a stay hair or two on my kneck can get me in trouble and irritated. I’m also loving Thayer’s facial toner! I’m hoping to upgrade to a Simpson T3 brush and possibly a SST safety razor in the future. Thanks for all the great advice and teaching me to shave the right way for the first time in my life!
That is a great compliment. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us. It will be very helpful for others when they read what a difference it has made in your life. Thanks for your support. It is greatly appreciated and not overlooked.
These are both great razors, so thanks for the comparison... I have used the 6S for years on plate 3 or 4. I added the Syntesi 6 weeks ago to my collection because it is more elegant and cnc machined, not mim. However, I think the Syntesi compares more to a Plate 4. The Plate 6 is definitely more aggressive. Why I am so sure, I would never use plate 6, but I use the Syntesi every one to two days 🙂

It’s funny that the last video I watched was about a razor I’ve been on the fence about. I currently have the Rockwell T2 SS, and I love it! But after watching this and all your other videos, I’m seriously considering the Rockwell 6S now. Thanks for all the knowledge you’ve shared-I’ve learned so much about that razor because of you!

I’ve use with great success persona comfort coats, bic chrome, shark super chrome, feather, Facon blades. And with any of them I get a beautiful super smooth and close shave with this razor. Thanks for the video mate. I'm yet to pull the trigger on stainless steel razors but I believe you couldn't go wrong with the adjustability of Rockwell. The syntesi does look a good razor though for the right person. I use the T2 on the 3 or 4 setting depending on growth and the blade I use. 4 for the 1st pass and 3 for the second pass with a lot of growth. 3 for both passes with an everyday shave. I've heard other reviewers saying that the shave soaps from Bundubeard are good quality but being in Australia I'd hate to think what the postage is for them. Thanks again for the video and for all you do for the wet shaving community.
David, great comparison shave as always. 🙂 I have the Rockwell 6C using plate 3 and that is my GoTo razor. The 6S would be great tey, but that Syntesi looks sweet. I would have to go with the Goodfellas to satisfy my curiosity😊

They are close but the syntesi is better for my difficult neck areas. Both are very good and the Rockwell is arguably the better value considering it is a gate way to finding what razors will work for you. Never would have found the goodfella with out the Rockwell as a guide.

The Rockwell 6 plate has a 0.79mm gap vs the syntesi has 0.62. How does the blade feel compare? You mentioned before the syntesi is lower blade feel? How’s about compared to the 6 plate?
blade gap is a starting point. It's the angle the Razor hits your face on how the manufacturer designed the Razor. Too many people get hung up on blade gap and that's not a good way to compare Razors. I think the six plate is compatible to the Syntesi. Blade feel is how much blade exposure the blade hangs over the razor and has nothing to do with the blade gap

@Твььв-ю1з The 6C is chromium-plated zinc alloy. The 6S is Stainless Steel. From a shaving point of view no difference (some people claim SS would drag more). If you can afford it I would always go for Stainless... while I am sure zink alloy can last for decades, it is the it is the inferior material. Here in Germany zink alloy was used traditionally. Probably this is the reason more of the old Gilletes made from brass are out there.... anyway also love my 34c which is made from zink.
I do like the Syntesi Velvet but my problem is I got it in aluminum. It was my second DE razor and I learned I prefer heavier razors. I pick it up every now and then. The low profile design does make it easy to detail with. I just don't like it enough to repurchase in steel.

It’s the most comfortable, medium, aggressive blade I have found in the marketplace. Made in the USA and I have not found a dud in all the shaves I have done with it. We have such a great quality control here in the United States and persona, which is Accutech makes instruments for the medical field where precision matters and they don’t hold back in their razor blades.
@@OhioShavescurrently the Mühle R89. The Syntesi is a good razor indeed. Problem for me it has a really thin guard(just a personal remark) and you need to get the right angle not to feel it too draggy. Also Syntesi is a bit less grippy and less efficient than the Masamune, but you can feel that grip or suction.

Well, said Jeff. Have a great week.
Great video Dave! I have another question; on a scale ofn1 thru 5 were do you place the Personna comfort coat razor blades? Thanks Dave
@@OhioShaves thanks Dave much appreciated

I don’t think I could buy a razor with a little o ‘ring I know would end up lost or worn out.
Just for shipping purposes. They go down the drain or on the floor in my case
First one to comment: I’d like a Rockwell.. unfortunately in Europe these are harder to get…
What razor are you currently using?
@@OhioShavescurrently the Mühle R89. Beside the relatively mild shaves and not so big blade gap for me still my go-to razor (only little overhang left and right and under the nose little bit struggling due to the bolbous head). Because of that I am considering to try a Syntesi like the one in your vid. Also looking for a henson but its a little on the expensive side😅.
Joined. I hope I can win the Rockwell.
Thanks for your support, brother. It is greatly appreciated and not overlooked
@@OhioShaves No problem, you make good content.
There is no answer in choicing razor.
there are a few at standup among the rest. At least in my mind, they do
I must admit that if I shall shave wearing a shirt I will need to change it. You didn't t drop a thing onto it dude. You are a mentalist..😂
😅
The Syntesi is a good razor indeed.
Problem for me it has a really thin guard(just a personal remark) and you need to get the right angle not to feel it too draggy.
Also Syntesi is a bit less grippy and less efficient than the Masamune, but you can feel that grip or suction.
Fair enough
