HAMBURG: "Take away their illegal assets!" Customs make record cocaine discovery in Hamburg port!
The biggest blow to date by German investigators against organized cocaine trafficking was the result of a tip from the Colombian authorities. Contact officers in Colombia pointed out a company network belonging to a 43-year-old German businessman in Wachtberg in the Rhein-Sieg district near Cologne, representatives of the public prosecutor's office, customs and police reported in Düsseldorf on Monday. A total of 35.5 tons of cocaine with a street value of 2.6 billion euros were seized as a result.
The businessman is said to have set up 100 bogus companies to give drug imports a legal facade. Investigators from the Central Office for Organized Crime at the Düsseldorf Public Prosecutor's Office launched the investigation "OP Plexus," named after the medical term for network.
