TV RTRS, Interview, 28.11.2015 MILAN: GOOD INTERVIEW... EVERYTHING YOU DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT ME AND IT HAPPENED! THANK YOU ALL IN RTRS! He says he's stubborn, lazy, ''difficult to maintain'', but also sincere, funny, cheerful, spontaneous... He's mostly annoyed by stupid people. In his twenties he has experienced what many don't experience in a lifetime. He didn't win the music competition ''Zvezde Granda", but he certainly made the biggest career. He represented his country at Eurovision... He is surrounded by two ladies and they are his biggest support - mother and sister. He's Milan Stankovic! Milan Stankovic, Miki or ''Blond forelock" wept for the first time in 1987 in Belgrade and spent his childhood in Obrenovac with younger sister Nastasija. He went to medical school, department - medical technician. Asked what he would like to be when he grows up, Milan would answer "Prince or cowboy". Appearing in a music show "Zvezde Granda" he certainly won the hearts of many girls and became their prince charming. He has a huge number of fans firstly because of his performance, stage presence, charisma, but girls also like his looks, styling and sincerity. Milan: Since forever, the best feeling for me was being on the stage. In kindergarten, while other kids were playing in the sand, I was spending time with my teachers and eating donuts. I was their favourite. And I sang on director's desk. I wasn't just singing, as a kid. Everyone expected me to become an actor. I went to private acing classes and also recitation from my eighth to seventeenth year. Music occured late. Although I was singing my whole life, I didn't know if I would become a singer or an actor. But I definitely have a lot to say in music and that's not only talent for singing. Nowadays, everyone thinks that anyone with a good voice can become a singer. That wasn't my thinking, I don't think it's enough to have a good voice. Night before that audition I was thinking about my styling, had two combinations, dyed my hair. I wanted to be a different singer. That's how everything began. Rounds were passing, fan clubs were forming spontaneously... I think in that period I was a real little teenage star. That was actually my goal and I enjoyed it until the moment when I started to think a little bit deeper about this vocation and all its problems. I had the need to express myself in several directions, not just as a singer. Journalist: When Milan was only five months old, his father went to jail where he died. He says he didn't know him at all because he wasn't living with all of them. Soon his grandmother left him too. He remembers this period as very difficult one. In order to cheer him up, his mother bought him a baby rabbit, so that was his best friend for a while. Milan: I was only 4 when my father died. So I lived with my mother, later with stepfather also and of course my sister Nastasija. I remember collecting stary dogs, teaching my sister some inappropriate jokes, cursing haha. I had a lot of friends who were older than me. That was good, in one hand, I was protected, but in the other hand I missed some things that my coevals had. And not just when I was a kid, but also with this singing. My growing up ended right after high school. I had to mature hurriedly, so I have the feeling that some university days are missing there. Maybe I needed something like that, relieving with a dose of motivation... One period in my life is missing, definitely. At least one. ........................(1) ................... MILLION THANKS, KATARINA KRASIVA -admin at " Milan's translations" FB Page for all translations !
.............(2)..................... Journalist: After finishing high school, Milan wanted to go to university, but his mother told him she didn't have enough money for that. Then he got a job at the department for dialysis at Military Medical Academy in Belgrade. So he worked there until the moment when his sister applied him for the competition ''Zvezde Granda". Then his childhood was suddenly over. He got the fame but also big responsibiity. Although he didn't win, Milan was the moral winner for many people. Milan: In 12 out of 14 rounds in this competition, I was on the first place. So everyone saw me as a favorite, including me. I really don't know what happened in the final and I didn't win. But generally, victory is a set of circumstances that night. And career is something much longer, more complex and bigger than that night. But I realized that later. In that moment that was a huge defeat for me, because I expected something else, but for me, everything has to be the harder way, more thoroughly and slowly, although I'm very impatient for all big things. Journalist: After the competiton, a real craze for Milan was created. His first album ''Solo" was released in 2009, sold in 50 000 copies. Milan: Yes, my first album was "Solo". Back then I found those producers, "Atelje trag". I think they do production at the highest possible way. That was a challenge for me, to fit my appearance with my music. Because I wasn't a club singer. I couldn't sing plagiarized songs, or pure pop songs, for festivals. So I recorded music video for the song "Face" on my birthday. I worked with Marko Mitanovski, designer who later worked with Lady Gaga. I worked with many people who were on their beginnings and later they did some huge things. I like that. In that period of my life, I was playing with music the most. I could allow myself that in the 20th year of my life. So this album is a memory for me, sum of all occurrences in my youth. I didn't consider it a serious project back then. From the moment he appeared in "Zvezde Granda", interest in him doesn't wane. Although he didn't win, he became the biggest star of that generation, with his girlfriend Rada Manojlovic. For a very short time, his childhood dream came true. He represented his country at the Eurovision Song Contest. Milan: Yes, that was my dream. Only a year passed between my album and Eurovision. I realized that no matter how hard you try to achieve your goals, big things happen to you unexpectedly. So people from RTS organized a competition where three singers sang Goran Bregovic's songs. Then it was sms voting. He chose "Ovo je Balkan" for me. That was a beautiful experience. Working with Goran, our biggest star was amazing. I got many advices from him, regarding composing. It was very stressful period, but I like it. First, here in Belgrade, people chose me with 50 or 70 % of votes. Then it started a huge work for me. I can't compare it to any other period. I had 3 or 4 interviews per day on different languages, then many appearances in every television, place, rehearsals... Those 3 months were very stressful, so after all that I got fever, I was weary. But it is an unforgettable experience, a very important mark in my biography. Regardless of the problems which occured later, Eurovision is a very positive thing for me. Journalist: Everything was great till the moment when Milan git into conflict with people from "Grand production". Milan: Some bad things happened with one interview. And of that small conflict it was created huge negative energy directed to me, prohibitions and blackmails also. One can't just disconnect you and than expect you to come back later. I couldn't do that. I coudn't let those people have influence on my career and therefore on my life. Media was, of course, on their side. They created a very bad image about me. In 2015 I won in court. And I sued them in 2010. So justice is very, very slow. So it was logical to stop our collaboration. In the end, I had to pay for my freedom a value of one apartment in Belgrade. I'm very proud of that decision. So we are now in correct terms, of course I'm grateful to them for creating that competition where I appeared, but also I think it's not enough just to show up somewhere. Many things depend on ourselves and affect our success. Sincerely, I don't think Grand made a bigger star. Maybe because that's a massive production, they have huge number of singers. Maybe time is fast nowadays. These are not nineties where music icons were made. That didn't happen in this region in the last 20 years, because time is fast, music has changed, people don't have time to listen carefully to new songs, to follow someone's work. But they definitely made a pause in my career. Took from me those 2, 3 years when I could enjoy and work. That decision I made caused a lot of problems, but I don't regret it, because that was my only way. Journalist: He doesn't tolerate mediocrity and superficiality. That's the reason why he was delaying his album release for a long time and he recently delighted his fans. Milan: Every song has its own story and it's a part of my growing up. ''Perje" is my first composition, it's a bonus song on this album, then "Faktor rizika"... "Gadure" is totally unusual connection, because I don't like to record expected duets and so on. What's also important here? Yes, "Luda zeno", the winning song on Pink festival. But people recognized an artist and serious musician in me after song "Faktor rizika". Up to now I had songs that I felt and liked, but this is something completely created by me. Journalist: Popular singer never met his father, so his mother was working hard to give Milan everything he needed. Wherever he appears, he became people's favourite in a very short time. In his family, he's in charge of money. Milan: I'm constantly tired and on the road. Unfortunately, I don't have a free weekend. Or fortunately, I don't know. I'm now dedicated to that, performing with my band. Especially in Bosnia. I'm extremely well accepted there. I enjoy a lot my gigs, seeing public's reactions. I'm very satisfied with that. As you can see, I'm not modest. Sometimes people think I'm rude because I don't have that modesty. We all have some imperfections. Journalist: Milan says it's hard to be a star nowadays. Besides singing qualities, he thinks a star should have many more things. He considers Severina the biggest star in the Balkans because she has X factor. Milan: That's why I put her in the song ''Masina". Actually Marina Tucakovic did that. She has everything one real superstar should have. And she generally supports me, from Eurovision till now. - I was learning to sing by listening to Zdravko Colic. My mother bought me his CDs, and maybe I imitated his voice, I don't know. His singing is very sumptuous, meaningful, emotional, dynamic... He's simply my teacher. I also like ''Bijelo dugme''. They are the peak in music, for me. Although I listen more to foreign music and I give myself to people "by spoon", in small amounts. Because if you give them big amounts of something, they won't swallow it haha. That's how I play. Journalist: His fans call themselves Krasive. Milan says they are his biggest support and they mean so much to him. He added they are the best, unrepeatable and he thanks God for having them. Milan: I like to take photos, record videos and being in contact with them all the time. I like to read their messages, comments, to follow their profiles, see their gestures. I get a ot of presents from them. Recently I was in Germany, in Pforzheim where I got a lot of drawings. I have many bags full of their presents, teddy bears, letters... Actually letters were destroyed during the floods in Obrenovac but the rest of it I keep there. And one day I'll take a photo of it to show others all their love directed to me. Jounalist: Participating in a show ''Pinkove zvezdice", young singer admits it's much harder to be in jury than one of the candidates because they should choose new teenage star who will satisfy high public's criteria. Milan: At the beginning of the show, I didn't know how to judge. Now I just enjoy their huge talent. I see myself doing some inappropriate, funny things there. It's like I'm in a reality show. I can't be serious all the time. Milan's conclusion about happiness: If someone is really happy, that means they live in a very small yard and don't pay attention to all the things outside. The less you know, the happier you are. In order to achieve happiness, we should relieve our minds, annul what other people say and devote ourselves to our existence. These are philosophical topics and it would be necessary another show for that. This is in connection with meditation, parallel world we should create in order to achieve felicity. Because in this fast time, when we all chase material things, we are too far from happiness. ...........................
