I hope this doesn’t make me sound like a hater lmao - we all have to play the game to succeed on this platform, I just question the honesty of SOME of these creators, not all of ‘em. Y’all have a great Tuesday!
I have done the same so many times - like you when I do reviews, I am honest about them and only review what I use myself ...... couldn't agree more spending more time trying to get better skills I do love my R6 & R3 - hope you are well Tristan
Being honest is the best we can do man. It's so easy to get sucked into the hype train - but we all have to step back and make sure gear matches our needs, specifically. That's why, again, we both do our best to give our viewers information, while not pushing products on them.
The hype is real out here and will drive you into poverty trying to keep up with creators that get the stuff for free lol
THAT PART! It's time to stop trying to keep up with these creators and go at our own pace, on our own journey.
@@TristanErvin facts everyone’s creative journey is different and these are all just tools. I’ve actually been blown away with the new iPhone and its video capabilities
Great video. I've certainly fell victim to the hype at one point or another. I've slowed down since on buying gear and watching the reviews. I see them in my feed and ignore them most of the time. The R6 Mark II doesn't have anything that a novice like me would benefit from. I'm very happy with my R6 Mark I.
Thanks man!. We all have, unfortunately - but I feel like more of us are wising up and making better decisions about the gear we purchase. I've also stopped watching less gear reviews, because it's much of the same every single time. The R6 Mark I is still a superb camera that I use almost daily. The only reason I'd consider getting the Mark II is because it's future proof - and even then, I can wait a while longer.
Yessir. I bought a lot of gear based off of hype, and very limited knowledge. Nowadays, I know I am making a good purchase when I’m not really that excited about the specs and hype, but knowing that it gets out of the way in order for me to create more efficiently. An expensive lesson.
Exactly! It's a lesson that most of us have to learn the hard way, but once we do, things get a lot easier for us, and we can hold on to a lot more of our money for the things we actually need.
I'll be getting myself the Canon R6, I don't need the latest, but I do want to upgrade from my nearly 10 year old Nikon D7100, another reason for switching brands is that I like the feel of Canon Cameras much better.
Big facts
So you went to thumbnail school
Lol, get outta here man 😂
I LOL’d 😂

Word!
Couldn’t agree more with this - I’ve done it myself and have also been on the other side of making videos on gear. Appreciate this video!
It's a dangerous game we play man, haha. Thanks for watching bro!
Very well said man! 100% agree. I appreciate how these youtubers share their experiences with new gear, but most of the time it is just distracting us from putting in the practice with what we already have. Love how you mentioned presets as well - great way to save time and replicate a look, but knowing how to do it is knowledge for life. Thanks for the video! Hope life is good 🙂
Exactly! If we truly understood the gear we already have, we'd know there's no need to upgrade right as something new comes out. The cameras that have come out these last few years can still hold us over for a long time. And as far as the presets - I've been guilty of purchasing a few in the past, but I've saved so much money buying more by learning to color grade, myself. Thanks for watching man!
This comes at a good time. I am going through a purge and getting rid of and selling gear that I was "influenced" into buying. Sold a couple of lenses, realized I need only 1 camera to learn on and one good lens. Now it is learning technique and how to frame my subjects, etc. etc. Thanks for saying this!!
That's what I'm talking about man! Get some of your money back and invest more time into learning the gear you have, to save more money in the future! Thanks for watching bro!
I 100% agree. I just upgraded from a panasonic g7 to a Sony a7iii and now all these UA-camrs are telling me to get the Sony a7IV when it’s not in my budget.
The A7III is still solid man! You'll be good for at least a few more years. Don't let them get to you!
Excellent advice, as always!
Thanks Eric!
Since falling off the hype train I stopped keeping up so much with what gets announced. I peek here an there but I’m so in tune with the gear I have and learning the ins and outs of it that I don’t care what’s on the market. Now it’s just something to talk about 🤷🏾♂️ like u said they are tools to help craft the story we are trying to tell
Well said bro! It's so easy to get caught up in it, and then start to feel like your gear is inferior. But if you REALLY know your gear, and know what it's truly capable of, there's really no need to upgrade just because there's something new that's out. People just talk about gear now to talk about it.
You put this out there and worded it perfectly my dude ! I appreciate you and your words so much ❤
Thank you Chris! Now as far as that R5....😂
True (One can go broke keeping up with the Jones's )
Our wallets aren't set up for that!
