I remember him and I watched "Alias Smith and Jones" Both guys SO handsome! And Pete Duel had a twinkle and a wry sense of fun in the show. So shocked at his death. Thanks for bringing back some memories.

I think I watched Alias Smith and Jones for the first time in the late 70's or the early 80's. I was so shocked when I found out he was dead. Such a gorgeous guy and a good actor too. It is no wonder the show kinda died too when Duel was gone.
Pete's bad luck was that he got into TV, but he wanted to be in movies. He lived in the era when actors just did not make the jump from small screen to the large screen. Pete did a number of guest appearances in different series before Alias Smith and Jones. They are worth finding and watching. R.I.P., Pete.

I adored Pete Duel back in my early teenage years. I was hooked on Alias Smith and Jones. I was devastated when he died. I did continue watching the show with his replacement, Roger Davis, but it wasn't the same.
He was one of my first heroes… I was 7 my Dad said I’ve got sad news before you read the paper. It was New Year’s Day but we always watched Alias Smith and Jones together. I was heartbroken. May he rest in peace xxxxx

Pete was my first crush in 1971 ,to later be followed by David Soul , I am an old woman of 64 now , and though I should have long ago have left crushes behind , now it is Sam Heughan , Seems you’re never too old to carry a crush , but Pete being my first has a special place in my heart , ah , those were the days,. young and only twelve, how time passes us by so quickly , I am dying but I will take those desires to my grave , apart from David Soul , they remain forever young .
Pete's demise was such a shock. Life does not imitate art. Show up on the set, and know your lines. Behind the scenes at home? Pete's real-life struggles were not seen by us. They were only known to him. I just watched the episode The McGreedy Bust. A good one! Pete would film two more episodes, and that was it. He and Ben had terrific chemistry. What could have been.
Peter Duel was far too hard on himself, gave himself little or no credit, and forgot the reasons he sought for a career in acting. He also seemed internalized therefore few of his friends were aware of his tortured frame of mind. Sad.
I was only 9 yrs old when he died. But I remember being so sad and upset. I had such a crush on him. I no longer wanted to watch Alis Smith and Jones anymore.. Even to this day in 2024 . I still love him and miss him and wonder what greatness he could of achieved if he had lived 💔💔😢😢🙏🙏🔥🔥😭😭😭🌹🌹👼👼🕊️🕊️
