I grew up using mainly Sonlight and always loved history and found it totally fascinating--probably the two facts are somewhat connected, haha!

Could you link the my diaries/my story books you are referring to? Thank you so much for all the tips!!!

I hated history as a student in school, but as a homeschool mom I love it because I can present history through real stories. We focus on learning from the the past, debating things and don't put an emphasis on memorizing dates. I have memories of going through flashcards in college to memorize dates in history! Such pointless "learning".

Yes! I feel like the dates tend to stick when you have a vested interested in the story itself. Otherwise it's just dry and boring.

We have yet to start using Story of the World but further to your comments, it is engaging and written like a living book which also makes it suitable for Charlotte Mason homeschoolers ❤

This was great. I love teaching history now too. Hated it growing up. Just subscribed. I feel like I’ve been watching a lot of your videos even through your birth experiences and was excited to find that you homeschool too! I also have a channel and have tons of homeschooling content. It would be fun to be friends and connect here 😊 looking forward to watching more!

My older kids hate history and my oldest is doing church history and loving church history!!! I’ve bought some Jim wess history books!!! We love them!!! My older daughter asks why there is so many wars in history? That’s put her off history!!! I put kingdom of heaven on for my older kids when we studied the crusades!!! I’m reading the well trained mind and it encourages narration and Charlotte Mason’s ways!!! I love hearing my kids ask me to read more!!!
