- A change in demand is when the whole curve shifts and a change in quantity demanded is movement along the demand curve due to a change in price. Price Doesn't shift the curve.

The movement along the curve from A to C is an *expansion in quantity demanded* ( as Q increases) while the movement along the curve from A to a point above A is a *contraction in quantity demanded* ( as Q decreases)

Simply,To distinguish, Just look if even at higher prices if demand is increasing in a graph, it means it is change in demand. Because in change of demand, price of commodity does not matter. What matters is the other determinants of demand like preference, taste etc. Even in higher prices consumer will buy that commodity if its his preference.
Focus to the part where he says people are somehow buying even at 5$. Thats change in demand.
Price matters in change in quantity demanded not in change in demand.
