@@InsaneCarville Yeah, either this or Level Five. Still, as a long time KC fan, this album, Thrak and The Power to Believe are their best albums. In The Court and Red is kind of overrated.
@@almightyhotdoglady5383 hell nah red and court aren't overrated in any means, they were groundbreaking and influenced everything that came after (mostly court). That's why they are perfectly rated
King Crimson represents the pinnacle of musical achievement in a band format and this period of King Crimson, for me at least, represents the pinnacle of the band. Sublime is the only descriptor I have that comes close.
We can really picture a dystopian world/aftermath of some apocalyptic event with the last trilogy (THRAK, ConstruKction and Power to Believe) THRAK - Solitude, Fear of darkness, isolation. ConstruKction - Insanity, emotional distress, pressure. Power to Believe - The utter brutality of the reality and how things seems to be going.
This is how I interpret this era of King Crimson. It makes even more sense given the dawn of the millennium and the Power to Believe's post-9/11 release.
I feel it is like a diamond. So precise, pure, intricate, many angles. It lives up to its name. It is one of those tracks like Starless that combines every element of the previous KC phases, but in such a fluid way it distinguishes itself as something apparently totally new. The emotive quality is distinct from their previous works, and even the rest of the catalogue. Like slipping into an arcane dream state. Some of the ProjeKcts convey similar feelings (ProjeKct 3 in particular), but there the structure is chaotic, and here it seems mathematically precise.
This is a Super Unsettling Song to me, And it Only Gets More And More Uncomfortable as The Lyrics Begin, But I Like That, I Love it When Pieces of Art Make me Feel Something, Whether it be Unintentional or Intentional, Negative or Positive, it's an Enriching Experience For me
I like the lyrics. They are bizarre but thats kind of cool imo. It paints almost a psychedelic picture. The lyrics is just as wierd as the rest of the song.

One of the most astonishing basslines I've ever heard
Warr guitar*
Tony Levin once called it one of the best touch guitar bass parts ever written.

HEHEHE I AM A MASKED WARRIA Tony on bass reminds me of Jimi on guitar. Humble enough to disregard the acolades.

"Coda: I Have a Dream" really reflects that theme of hope in a diseased world.
A really hopeful song

Hypnotic track.
this is King Crimson's best piece of work (not particularly this recording, but japan and Bonn recordings are astonishingly good). Fight me
this KC iteration has huuugely grown on me. darkest, most technical....kind of the penultimate form

This album is such a masterpiece
Honesrtly, if you replace this album with the live versions of the songs from the Japan dvd, it's in with a shout of being King Crimson's best album
Check out The Reconstrukction of Light - it sounds far, far better than the original and very close to the live versions.

I wish there was a version with the extra lines from the KC50 series, but with the original drum track (that version is from ReconstruKction).

Pat Mastelotto is the only drummer that knows how to make electronic drums sound great. Even Bruford can't pull that off.
Yes he can, and yes he did.
But he did tons of times... They're both really good drummers, and I think the Double Trio is proof of both their skills.
