My Dad bought brand new in 1970 a Kingswood HG station wagon which was ordered and delivered with a 308 V8 trimatic transmission, rear LSD and front disc brakes. Drove it around when I got my Licence , loved it. My mate had a 202 LJ torana 2 door, He turbo'd , had a four speed manual tranny, we had to fit a holden one tonner clutch in so the it wouldn't slip when accelerating.
I believe the term originated from the GMH engineers who used FX on the title of drawings for the update Air ride model components. It caught on with used car salesmen later on and pretty much was used ever since.
1966 HR Panel VAN. Apart from working my girlfriend, my efforts went into radicalising it in paint, motor, carbs, Splatt Dragway rims, arch, curtains, headers and disc brake front that came from a later Holden.
My dad had a HR Holden Premier with a 186S bolted to a Toyota Celica 5 speed manual. Power drum brakes and a big Holley 385cmf I believe. His mate took it out drag racing and came back and he said it's the fastest HR in Ballarat and Stawell. Got written off in 79 apparently by a taxi in Melbourne. He then got a 68 HK Monaro GTS 186s.
I had an ek and fb Ute. The ek was so straight. 95% Complete not running, I paid $600! From bubbs holden spares, Everton pal, 1995. I nearly finished it, but I moved 3000kms n had to sell them. One of my only regrets in life. Which is pretty good!👍🎯🍻🇦🇺
Fun facts the Holden red motors were around as late as the late 70’s, making it to the VB Commodore. Great motor but upgraded to the blue motor in the VC and then black motor in the 84 VK. Then replaced by RB 30 in the VL. I thought the LC only came out in the GTR (186 bored out 60 though to 192) then the GTR XU1 came out in the LJ (202 bored out 60 thou to 208); any Holden heads able to clarify this one for me as I’m a blue oval bloke?
had a hq ss monaro sedan red and black in 1981, cost 2900, and a 73 lj gtr xu1 in yellow and black in 1983, cost, 3800, the xu1 is the car i miss, sold it in late 83 as i wrapped my mates lc xu1 around a pole in brisbane, and had to sell mine to pay for rebuild of my mates xu1....
Good episode man, great to see some old holden shit being loved. For those who speak of i had or my mate had or dad had, well, you know what you can do. You can wish all you like and that you never sold it stories are history. Cheers.
People are funny like that, everyone says “I should have kept that car” yet in reality they either had to trade it for the next one or didn’t have the space to keep it! And if they had these cars would be everywhere and not worth nearly as much! 😂😂
@@lachlanwoods3940 True mate. If you really want to you can have again. I own a 1973 Holden ute, it's shit, but i love it, coming from a Ford enthusiast, i'm not racial toward any classic car.

I know what you mean but his videos are lightly entertaining and sometimes interesting. I think he said he was born in 2000 so it’s not unusual for the young whipper snappers. We just gotta lighten up a bit sometimes and let it slide
😂😂😂 kinda hard to research when I didn’t even know what cars were gonna be there but I did say at the start of the video that I’m not well versed in old holdens
@Dropkicked-antics I was just saying mate, calm ya farm bruh. And I just upload so mates can watch lol. I couldn't give two shits if you don't like my content 🤣

Love these junkyard videos but I cant wait for the return of the bilo EF
The bilo mobile will be back soon don’t worry!
Holden never called it the FX, That's what people called it after the the FJ was released. The model was called the 48-215
I believe the term originated from the GMH engineers who used FX on the title of drawings for the update Air ride model components. It caught on with used car salesmen later on and pretty much was used ever since.
I did see 48-215 thrown around when I was researching them. FX is just easier to say and I think people recognise it better
It’s a workshop. Not a junkyard.

I know I am dating myself, but I remember as a kid a lot of these cars being common and have ridden in many of them. Good to see some being preserved.
If you're not sure what it is, look at the compliance plate. If it hasn't been played with that will tell you what model it is.
Chris and Barry are good blokes👍🏻

My first car was a HQ Kingswood in the same colour as that XU1.
If it's a true LC gtr xu1 it would be a 192, triple carbs I'm pretty sure LJ was a 202

This could go AUS wide... Kind of like Spanian "Into the hood" but "Into the wreckers" 😅😆
Legit what I thaught
That is the plan for sure! Would be a dream
Hopefully without the junkie gronks acting like children
I'll be giving Chris a call 👍👍

I bought a 49 Fx in 1970, had been garaged for 7 years, for $ 200. Wish I still had it😂
Sorry it was a 179HP not a 173 HP
As a Gen X'er. I grew up loving these old Holdens. I've owned FB, HR, HQ, HX and WB varieties... But now I'm into Aussie Fords.
Great video! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Great watch.
Can’t go past a good old Holden
The older Fords aren’t to bad either but a good old Holden are the shit mate
