Good job all around to Ryan the MacGiever, of rural France. Great job on the gear shift, but get it checked out anyway . And the cleaning up of floor, Billy taught you well. I can see clearly what's next to work on when the place is neat and in order. Great job, now you are ready for the next time you get to work on your place.😊

Here's a revised version of the text you provided: I wanted to suggest that with winter approaching, it would be beneficial to check if any of the fireplaces in your house are usable. If a fireplace is usable, you could burn the wood you are taking out, which would reduce the number of trips to the tip and save you money. Having heat in the house would also help with the overall comfort, and you would be able to work more efficiently in a warmer environment.
Can't burn the new Joist off cuts, and really shouldn't burn the lathe. There is a lot of nasty stuff in the wood that will off gas. Those may be coal fireplaces as well, as shallow as they are.
@Marcus-ki1en As I mentioned earlier, he should check his fireplace to see if it's usable. I have a stove myself, and before I started using it, I contacted our local council to inquire about burning wood in this area. They informed me that I could burn wood as long as it hasn't been chemically treated or painted. They also mentioned that it's easy to tell the difference with chemically treated wood. When I asked if I could burn old and new wood offcuts in my fire, they assured me there would be no problem as long as the wood wasn't treated. They also mentioned that old timers never got treated chemically. Additionally, the council explained that coal emits a lot more fumes than wood. I live in a smoke control area where I can only burn certain coals that are permitted for burning by the local council. Plus if Ryans new floor joists was treated. Ryans friend wouldn't of had to bag the end of the joists that went into the wall.
