Hi Dr. Hauser , I just had styloidectomy surgery and Dr. Trevor Hackman performed the surgery. I am in the recovering phase now. Thank you and Cathy and Jesse for suggesting that I get them removed. I hope it will help my symptoms . Caring Medical has helped us so much. Thanks Again.
How are your symptoms now?
Where did you do your surgery? Please help info
Hi aprilausdenmoore, how’s your symptoms now? I hope you’re doing great. Do you recommend to perform the surgery to remove the Styloid?
I wish we had an office like yours in PA. Everyone has a specialty and nothing meshes. I am figuring out everything on my own. How the arm, shoulder, neck, and jaw all connect and create pain in so many ways
I can relate to all of her symptoms, probably for the last 20 years! I got my right styloid (4.5cm) manually fractured by Dr. Hamlar here in Minneapolis. The styloid is left in there floating, and I guess fascia heals it in place. Doc said if after 6 months symptoms don't resolve, he'll go in and take it out. But he's done 600 surgeries and 85% success rate with the non-invasive route. I'm about 12 weeks post-op & things seem pretty good. I felt so much better at just 3-4 weeks. Back to working out & actually enjoying life again. The best part is, NO MORE MORNING OR EXERCISE-INDUCED HEADACHES!!! I'll get my left side (4cm) fractured next month. I tried prolotherapy twice first to help, and it did with some of the jaw and ear pain - but my symptoms were too severe to maintain with that.
Hi! We are so sorry to hear that you were experiencing this but so glad that your symptoms have relieved and you are feeling better after surgery.
Do you mind us asking how the procedure was done (manually fracture the styloid)?
Chicken or the egg....Does the styloid cause neck issues (C1/C2 and lower like C4/C5) or does the neck issues cause the styloid process to elongate (and/or calcify)?
Wondered what her status is now that she has had a couple months of to heal?
I've been suffering over 3 years excruciating headaches blurred vision severe neck pain confusion pressure and ringing in both ears no one in Mississippi has been able to help me I contacted the famous UAB in Birmingham Alabama they think it is called intracranial hypertension I have had no help with pain control after being 24 pain clinics what would you suggest from here
See Dr. Sunil Patel (MUSC) and get an Upright MRI with Flex/Ext studies. UAB is garbage.
If you live in Ohio, you'll need to find a CCI specializing neurosurgeon near your state, only these kinds of expert surgeons can figure out what's going on with your cervical spine.
Colton I am from Ohio right by Cleveland Clinic they don't seem to know much either Ben 24 pain clinics I have had no pain relief in over 3 years
Where is this surgeon located at, and what's his name? She said it kind of fast , and what type of surgeon is he in what state? It's hard to find ones who do ir.
🧐what is a styloid?
Hi Kristine, Thanks for the question. Here is a recent video of Dr. Hauser discussing how finding elongated styloids can alter treatment course: ua-cam.com/video/LXSVGdEBFZw/v-deo.html Hope it helps. Take care.
Hi there as the patient described that she had to sleep on a incline to improve her symptoms at 3:37
I’m not sure but when I sleep on a regular pillow I feel as If I’m going to fall inside of the pillow
Additionally, I have the symptoms of dizziness imbalance( feeling of as I’m falling forward like when an airplane descends down and everything is going forward while sitting but also standing still and sometimes es also feeling of falling backwards)
I also have feeling of choking near left side of neck near collarbone and Adam’s Apple region and have acidity, heart palpitations
Sometimes I even see my carotid artery area twitching up to shoulder
My arteries in neck is normal based on ultrasound of neck and imaging of brain is normal but I do get jaw pain too and ear fullness
I would like to know what could this be and what form of imaging should I get I’m in Australia and I’m not aware of any DMX facilities
Does anyone here have any symptoms like this and what can be done to fix it
Vertigo and the inner ear
Have your PCP do an adjustment using your head
If they don't know how
Find a new PCP 💯
I had styloidectomy surgery one year ago , but it hurts every day in throat
Hello! Thanks for the testimony and all other videos in relation to this. Super insightful. I just missed the nuance towards the end of the video regarding chiropractic resolutions. Should those be avoided?
That's why it hurts so bad behind my ears
Thank you guys!!
I am post surgery 12 days and have major swallowing and breathing problems and my voice is still hoarse. Is this normal? The doctor said the cut the muscels attached to processus. Is that right?
Estas bien ahora ?
How is the recovery from getting the surgery
I have had five sessions 3 years of my life lost I've lost everything is it possible to have surgery my neck is so far out of line excruciating headache vomiting blurred vision feeling confused to the point I don't know what day it is can you help me
Also falling backwards with head and neck trauma five times in 3 years damage to the neck they cannot even do DMX here in Mississippi I am very disgusted I am not from Mississippi I'm from Ohio
That would be five head concussions falling backwards hitting my head on concrete
Thank God you are now free
I got shoulder ,speech and tighteness etc problem after intra approach styloidtecomy 😔
Same problem
What's the CT imaging she is referring to @3 minutes in? Do you have new equipment/ testing as of the last couple of years?
We understand how important it is to have an accurate diagnosis to create an effective treatment plan! We now have DMX, DDR, cone beam CT, Trans and extracranial Doppler, and ultrasound!
@@CaringmedicalProlotherapyAre you now able to perform a CT venogram at your location?
Dr. Has eagles been more common post Covid?! Could Covid be causing more elongated styloids?
I’m a long hauler who just found mine. I have heard of a few long haulers who have found symptom relief post styloid removal. Two possible theories there. I wonder about the microclots identified in long haulers and if the real issue is now pre-existing vascular compressions become an issue. Or is the inflammation making things like CCI/AAI and styloids worse? I really hope we get some research on this.
What test can I do to see if it is compressing my carotids and limiting blood flow?!
We have great resources on our website about this if you’d like to take a look! www.caringmedical.com/prolotherapy-news/vagus-nerve-compression-cervical-spine/amp/
www.caringmedical.com/prolotherapy-news/internal-jugular-vein-stenosis-missing-diagnosis-headaches-tinnitus-vision-problems-neck-pain-insomnia/amp/
During your exam here at CM you would receive an ultrasound (among other tests) that would be able to determine and measure compression. Hope this helps answer your question!
