- At the mention of the predominant idea that today’s generation is a bunch of culturally void beings, Kaushiki Chakraborty rushes to defend the youth. She vehemently disagrees with the idea that young generation has lost interest in classical music. Furthermore, she also feels that the responsibility is with the older generation to ensure that the youngsters learn to appreciate finer sensibilities instead to playing blame games.

I'm 24 and she is my favorite !! I don't think young generation is not listening to classical though our number is less as only few can afford luxury !!
She has such a valid and solid point. Any rational person shall comprehend. It is important to understand the patterns of change for striking the balance and surviving the tradition along with the appreciation of fresh, creative innovation.
Firstly, Kaushiki di is pretty popular among younger generations. Her efforts to connect with them through Coke Studio has been huge hit. And through this, they can get more exposure into her more serious body of work, namely pure classical.
Her intelligence matches her formidable musical abilities. Every generation is very proud of her. Its not just about generations however - its the mindset that's more important. There can be old people with open minds and young people with closed minds too! Intelligence and the right mindset can make age irrelevant.

Exactly, im 24 and my generation never got time to relax. Its a rat race on the fast lane, or death. Thats why extreme music is so famous now, like death metal, drum n bass, hardstyle. I also find myself seeking drut bandishes all the time, and I've had to teach myself to listen to alaps with patience.

I'm a fan from Himachal. You can really appreciate her passion for her art form. I completely agree with her views on how life affects our musical sensibilities, I've grown up listening to metal and classic rock cause Bollywood or pop music was just too hard to relate to. That was until i discovered the world of Indian classical music.
