In this week's video, we're embarking on an exciting adventure with a twist - a crazy 11-hour layover in the vibrant city of Santiago, Chile! 🇨🇱
We're not going to sugarcoat it; this layover was a bit of a train wreck, but we decided to make the most of it and explore as much as we could in a limited time. And boy, did we pack a lot into those hours! 🕒

Muy bonito video. Me encantó todo, inclusive cuando se acaba la batería. Fue gracioso, no lo esperaba.
Bueno, Santiago es una gran ciudad, pero en realidad es la entrada y punto de partida para conocer las maravillas naturales de este singular país.
Al norte, el desierto más seco del mundo, con sus paisajes lunares, geisers, altiplano y mucha historia....
...al sur, la Patagonia chilena, con una fauna y flora de no olvidar. Encontrar los hielos milenares, pasar por fiordes hasta lo más austral del mundo y antes de llegar a la Antártida. Encontrarse por el camino con pumas, guanacos, pingüinos, cóndores,...por el mar, ballenas, delfines....
O quizás en la zona centro sur, probar sus vinos y gastronomía y la vida rural,....o más radical, subir un volcán nevado activo cerca de un maravilloso lago, bosques y vistas de quitar el aliento...
Como usted puede ver, Chile es un país singular.... Puedes subir las altas montañas y esquiar en invierno o ir al mar y ver el Pacífico en pocas horas....
Como se dice,... Los cuatro puntos cardinales en Chile son tres: norte y sur..... Pero en realidad es mucho más que eso....
Además, puedes visitar la isla de Robinson Crusoe,
O ir más lejos aún y visitar nuestra amada Rapa Nui (Easter Island) y admirar sus moais 🗿 y respirar un poco de la cultura de la polinesia.
Santiago es solo la partida de una gran aventura.
Ojalá pueda regresar con un poquito más de tiempo.

Estoy muy interesado en la Patagonia chilena. Suena muy interesante y muy hermoso. Muchas gracias por escribir una descripción tan hermosa de lo que se puede encontrar en Chile. Nos inspiró mucho pasar un corto período de tiempo allí. Como dije, soy demasiado mayor para eso, necesito regresar y realmente dedicar tiempo. Así es. De hecho Chile significa "El Confín del Mundo" en aymara aunque algunos lo confundan con el "ají o chile" condimiento. Desde la época del Imperio Español Chile era denominado como "Chile Plus Ultra" (Lo más extremo al Sur) llegaba hasta las islas Falklands o "Malvinas" que antiguamente se llamaban Sebaldas y pertenecían a Chile también la Antártica aparece en los mapas antiguos del "Reino de Chile". Chile tiene 500 años y el Imperio Inca también se refería a nuestro territorio como "los confines del mundo" actualmente somos el país más austral y la entrada al Continente Blanco desde Puerto Williams.

Me encantò tu video. Un tour express por Santiago. Debo decir, la ciudad tiene aún mas que ofrecer. Espero que algún dia regreses, y conozcas mas, también viajes alrededor de Santiago, a la costa de Viña del Mar, Valparaiso, a solo 2 horas. La cordillera a dos horas, el sur y el norte de Chile. Te faltó una batería portatil para celulares, algunas duran hasta 2 cargas
Estoy totalmente de acuerdo en que la ciudad tiene más que ofrecer. No puedo esperar a volver, parece que hay mucho que ver en un corto trayecto en coche. La batería portátil fue lo primero que compramos al llegar a casa. ¡JAJAJA! Gracias, eso es exactamente lo que necesitábamos. Gracias por mirar. ¡Esperamos que vengan más de Chile pronto!

7:14. Not a church. That's the mausoleum of Benjamín Vicuña McKenna. He was the mayor of Santiago when the Santa Lucía hill was refashioned.
Interesting... I had read that it was Ermita del Cerro Santa Lucía a Catholic Church not open to the public. Again though I'm a tourist and I could have misread something. Thanks so much for watching and bringing that to my attention.

@@JuliaGonzalesTravels Great, whenever you come back take a wine and traditional food tour through some of our beautiful valleys as Del Maipo nearby Santiago or Cachapoal or Colchagua a couple of hours south of the Capital, as well I recommend to you Torres del Paine in Chilean Patagonia or San Pedro de Atacama at the desert, you can Google this tips for more information.

Thank you! Good point. When we looked it up initially we couldn’t find them. Then when we came back to the airport we saw a sign. So it was a miss on our part. That airport is really nice so it was hard to believe they didn’t have lockers but they do.

We are actually going back in the fall. Can't wait! Same as anywhere we travel, we try to blend in as much as possible. I don't wear watches or jewelry, and my phone is always hidden if I take it at all. We try to stay aware to be less of a target. You are going to have a great time!! Enjoy!
