  • If you have more than a few succulents in your collection you may have noticed that some of them are covered in powdery coating Farina is a protective coating that helps the plant stay healthy when exposed to extreme conditions and even insects. You have to be extremely Careful while handling succulents covered in farina as it’s incredibly easy to wipe it away.
    If you want to clean your succulent,then try to use a soft make up brush with a gentle touch. Farina is waterproof which means that it repels water.
    Some , fungicides, pesticides may also remove the coating so use these types of products with care.

    You are so helpful. I just started collecting succulents and I have learned so much from watching your various videos. I've owned many houseplants and orchids but succulents are a different game all together! I've come to love succulents so much that I'm moving away from my houseplants! Thank you very much and please keep making more videos. Also, I am leaf propagating some of my succulents and there are many contradicting videos so, once I have the leaf cuttings calloused and laid onto the soil, can I put it under my grow light? How long do I have to wait to start misting the cuttings? Thank you again!

      I completely agree on that yes a lot of confusing info… but I guess that’s because everyone has a very different environment and yes I have watched those videos too unfortunately most of times I haven’t seen an update video on those 🤣🤣
      But what I usually suggest is to be on safer side I have had my share of failures And then learnt from those mistakes I used to initially mist the leaves and they were unsuccessful.
      Coming to your propagation yes keep them under grow lights but not too close or directly under it just offer bright light the new pup will be sensitive this is a tricky part it’s need light but not strong ….
      Secondly don’t mist the mother leaf at any given point ….
      That’s brings us to when. To water …. Start to moisten the soil when you start noticing roots on your mother leaf that’s it…don’t keep the soil dry for too long as you will be conducting the propagation indoor watering should be less as the soil will dry much slowly compared to outdoor
      Maintain very slight moisture in soil when u see roots 😊
      Once I get back from holidays will make a full video on leaf propagation under diff growing conditions as an example

    I just cleaned my plants farina off 😩. Does anyone know how I can still protect it? Or tell me what will happen without it?

    • @LushGardener
      @LushGardener  Рік тому

      oh no …the leaves which you cleaned the farina it won’t come back …but don’t worry as the new leave will grow they will have farina on them …well there won’t be very adverse effects but now the succulent can’t handle very strong sun and those leaves without farina won’t be waterproof but don’t worry wait until
      the new leaves appear as the succulent grows

    • @sushmitag8463
      @sushmitag8463 3 роки тому

      Especially because the dust is super chipku. Will a make up brush be enough because what I gather after watching the video, wiping with a cloth is an absolute no.

    • @LushGardener
      @LushGardener  3 роки тому

      yes wiping with cloth is absolutely no ….again not alll succulents have farina ….but it best not to rub …..if the soft make up brush is not effect use a ballon blower…..I too get a lot of dust the balloon blower will just blow it all
