As we Brits used to say, that headlight is definitely "the dogs' bollocks!" It sounds like a great price too, for something which will be used all the time for night hunting. Video enjoyed and thank you once again!
I might buy one of these eRodgenous as I need another head torch. The price vs features is very reasonable. I can say the gesture on/off could be handy in my line of work. If you say it's good then that's good enough for me! As I've probably mentioned before I'm in the blood collection business. The other night I left my $400 Led Lenser (LL) head torch at home, realized on the road, panicked and called into Bunnings (in a B-Double at 10 to 9) to get another head torch. I paid $178 as when you need a head torch in my line of work you really need it and it must not fail, meaning I don't have time for budget gear. The new torch is another LL and is excellent, however it is so good for fixing cars I've found (I'm a mechanic in a former life turned truckie) that it has a feature I can't ever do without when mechanic-ing and that is it doesn't have a battery pack on the back meaning you can put your head on the ground and turn it to pick up spanners etc and not be impeded by a battery pack. The other thing it has is a focus ring that hardly needs turning from spot to wide angle. Anyway, I'm thinking I'll buy one of these for trucking since the battery pack is a complete non issue at work, keep the new one for my cars and keep the $400 one for everything else. I live off grid so reliable head torches are a big part self sufficiency at home. At work I'm basically a vampire it's all night work - must get home before dawn otherwise I'll turn to dust....
@@RJMHuntingAustralia one thing I find is that the lowest red light setting is too bright I. Some situations. I have an armytech head torch that I’m reviewing atm and I feel like a traitor to Olight to say this but I prefer it😂
@intothenight1993 not need to feel bad about it mate. It boils down to using the best unit for the job at hand. Nothing is perfect for every situation. Probably why I have such a collection now. 😉
@@RJMHuntingAustralia haha me too. And getting sent more for reviews is good because I get to try different lights to see what works and what doesn’t but certainly makes the collection grow. But can give them away and make other people happy too👌
Waiting for the next pig hunting video . We were on a first name basis 2 or 3 vids ago remember ?? You said HEY Fatty 😂. Keep them coming love your content
There is a huge design flaw with this torch, the charging port is only held in place by the solder connection. Mine came right off the pcb just from unplugging it, got a replacement and same thing happened again. It's a shame because it's a great torch just really bad design to have the charging port not reinforced in any way at all, it's just attached to the pcb so you're putting stress on the solder connection every time you unplug it. If you use it every day like I did, it won't last long.
Sorry guys.. Video is back up now. UA-cam demonetised the video so I appealed it and was waiting for a review. All sorted now Extremely frustrating 🤦♂️
@RJMHuntingAustralia got it, thanks. That's weird, actually. So to get to red I'll have to cycle through white which will blind me and make red fearure useless.
Just ordered this but you’ve got me worried about the motion control.. I climb cell towers for work and I’m worried the ladders are going to turn me into a strobe light 🤣
I’m sure Walther air rifle products are available in Australia. The firm proper name is Walther/Umarex. They do make air rifles from .177 to .50. Not sure what types of air rifles are permitted in Australia. But they may be of interest to you and your channel.
What's the battery life like? Looks like it's a standard 18650 in the battery pack. Can you drop in a new battery when it's flat or do you lose the use of the torch while it's charging?
Is there a way to turn the hand wave feature off or lock it out, I’m an appliance service tech and it drives me crazy when I’m trying to work on something and it keeps changing modes on me?

Good work as usual mate, very informative and unbiased.
Thanks buddy 👊
I've had one of these for a while now, it's bloody great.
Good gear for sure mate 👌
The red lights on the battery pack are the indicator. Great review!
Thanks mate 👊
As former Infantry my light must have red light and last.
This looks very good.
Just ordered one.
Gunna get one of them mate. My last olight head torch just gave up the ghost. Good tight review Rodney. Thanks.
Sounds like good timing mate 👍
I bought one of them a few weeks back highly recommend one I use mine for fishing and hiking
Nice 👌
How has it been for fishing? The reason why I’m here reviewing this headlamp.
@@SaltLifeGeo hi mate it actually is amazing for fishing makes life easy being able to turn it on and off and it’s out having to touch it

Good stuff mate. Sweet price too. 👍

Handy little torch, especially at the sale price. 👌
Thanks Rod, I class myself as a big OLight fan, and as yet have not purchased the new Array. I will have to get my A into gear and buy one. Cheers

I'm not sure about the IPX 4 rating. Where I live on Dartmoor, England the rain takes no prisoners.

Most important. You didn’t mention run time. How long do they last on the different brightness’s ?

do they make a non sensor version of the same? I have had sensor lights and thye are a pain when fishing, always changing as hands move in front
They do make other non sensor headtorches. This model only comes with the hand gesture feature though
What's the battery life like? Looks like it's a standard 18650 in the battery pack. Can you drop in a new battery when it's flat or do you lose the use of the torch while it's charging?
The battery is a sealed unit. Not usable while it's charging.
Run times are on the product link in the video description
Does it get hot on your head after extended use?
No mate. Didn't notice anything like that.
Is there a way to turn the hand wave feature off or lock it out, I’m an appliance service tech and it drives me crazy when I’m trying to work on something and it keeps changing modes on me?
Tape over the sensor 🤷♂️
