I’m a massive foreman fan. But Schultz won this. George just couldn’t handle Schultz pace the whole fight. George was gifted this fight but was robbed himself against Shannon briggs. A peak Shannon briggs who George battered for 12 rounds and lost a disgraceful decision in George’s last ever fight.

Foreman landed more punches and hit harder. And was more aggressive. The only argument for Schulz winning is the state of Foreman's face. It was a draw for me.

Watched this live back in the day. Couldn't agree more. Schultz won this fight. I'll give Foreman this...I couldn't believe he never went down once after getting some of those shots. The decision was what was best for business, not straight down the line call it like I see it. But that's real life I suppose

      Foreman was 46.
The fact that he's got the balls to fight 20 year olds in their prime, SPEAKS VOLUMES

Foreman was scared of this kid after this fight. I watched this match live when I was a teenager and I thought Foreman lost. This fight alone could make a person lose their faith in professional sports, it's almost like the outcome was predetermined like professional wrestling. Foreman wasn't confident that he won this fight that's why he never gave Schulz a rematch. He only had confidence in facing tomato cans for the rest of his career and he dodged true contenders. I'm not trying to degrade George Foreman honestly I know he was older, and he didn't have the stamina he used to have, I get it. He wanted to get the world title back, that was his goal and that was it. You know he could have just retired as world champion and left it at that.

    Schade!
Aber er ist trotzdem ein netter Kerl.

Yeah this was a pretty bad decision! Schulz deserved this one!
I read somewhere-and where I can’t remember-that Foreman basically…..”gifted”…a person or persons of importance a fairly large sum of money in order to help ensure that he’d be on the winning end of this decision. I don’t know if it’s true or not; I’m sure Foreman would say it’s not. Regardless of who says what, I will say that the scorecards were a bit fishy.

Age had caught up to him. Look at the state of his face. Guy was pushing 50. He was like the Terminator most of his career (especially when he came back) but the last few fights his face started to swell up badly. And around the eyes makes it impossible to fight properly.

It's a myth. In no way shape or form did Schulz deserve the win. I viewed a high-quality tape of the entire fight in the slowest motion setting with the volume turned off. That way I didn't have to listen to commentators Gil Clancy and Jim Lampley rave in awe for all those shots by Schulz that did not find their target. For the record, I had Foreman clearly winning rounds 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, and 11. 115/113 just as two of the three judges scored it. Even Larry Merchant, who had poked fun at George in the past, especially in the Holyfield and Alex Stewart fights, the former of which he called a "massacre" by Holyfield and the latter a "one point" win for Stewart had George winning here. Just because Schulz, an unknown, given little to no chance of winning and exceeded expectations does not mean he deserved to win. All that grappling and grunting by Schulz in close does not make his offense more effective. Foreman frequently drove Axel back with those jabs. Schulz spent much of the fight circling and back-peddling. He was largely ineffective having to throw from a distance so when he did manage to land his punches lacked effect as they barely made contact. Foreman landed the more authoritative punches with solid jabs, body shots, and the occasional but very effective uppercut.
