    I think that watching Japanese people cooking is one of my favourite things in the world. I love how she cares about nutrition and the origin of the ingredients but also about colour and composition. It is well-ballanced, beautiful and meaningful. Arigatou gozaimasu.

    That is such a respectful and beautiful way to address a homemaker... 40 years experience in homemaking!
    In my country, homemakers are casually refereed to as housewives. As if they do nothing. Their entire life, maintaining a home, ensuring everyone is fed, is healthy, things are organized, means nothing.

      In our language the concept of housewife would literally sound like mistress, less often also - mother of the house. In our language these words include both work and motherly care.

    • @okuu5091
      @okuu5091 7 місяців тому +3

      What is bad about the word "housewife"? It's work around the house performed by the wife. Nowhere in the word is anything about doing nothing, I suspect you might've connected it to the term "lazing around the house" but that's got nothing to do with the word. It has no negative connotations.

    • @etherealecstasy
      @etherealecstasy 7 місяців тому +7

      @@okuu5091 Do you belong to the same country as me? Have you met and talked to the same people as I did? Did you see all the couples I observed since childhood? Have you been a part of all discussions around gender roles that I've had with friends, relatives, colleagues over the years?
      I clearly stated 'in my country'. I didn't say I find this a negative or degrading word.

      @@etherealecstasygo work and let your husband be stay at home dad, then you'll see what it means to have a real work. I'm a woman and I can confirm that working 9-5 is more difficult than being a housewife

      America has a money-making culture. If you stay home, you're not making money. That is why "housewife" carries such a stigma.

    How respectful you are when you say forty years of homemaking experience! I have never noticed somebody saying years of experience on housemaking job. So, people say, I have this much experience in blah blah blah field but not housemaking. This gentleman totally changed the concept of stereotypical housemaking. I also love the tradition of Japanese people praying before eating. It felt so good to see this topic this way. More power to you and your mom!

    I am a retired chef. I am classically trained in traditional French cooking, which I learned from culinary school followed by an apprenticeship. And I have to say, your Mother's mastery of cooking techniques, and attention even to very fine details would put her on par with a professional chef's cooking skills. I was expecting her to be good, but even with my high expectations I was impressed.

    Thank you for showing a real homemade Japanese mom dishes. As I was born in Ukraine and lived in America for 30 and being a mom for many years my culinary basics are more like European and American. I also experiment with cuisine from other cultures. Japanese cuisine was a big passion for me for a few years. I learned a lot but still I wasn't sure if the recipes that I learned are really as authentic as Japanese moms cooking for families. I am so glad you decided to film your moms recipes. Please, make more of these videos!

    I absolutely love these kind of videos. It is always so remarkable for me to see how healthy the japanese diet is compared to the standard diets in most countries. I am german and live in france for over a decade and in both countries people way overconsume saturated fats (butter, cheese, cream, meat etc) and white flour products (bread, pasta etc. ) and eat too much overall. On the other hand they do not consume nearly enough fruit and veg. The saying "overfed and undernourished" is what comes to mind. I would love to transition towards japanese meals for my family (even including breakfasts), but from where i am now i find it very overwhelming and i do not know where and how to start. I would be grateful if anyone would have any suggestions. Thank you for this lovely video❤

    I’m from Croatia. My mom taught me how to cook traditionally but she also taught me Japanese way and macrobiotic cooking. Even though she never left Croatia, she took real effort to learn how to cook Japanese cuisine, and mind you, back in the 80s, 90s, when the information wasn’t so accessible. I was lucky to visit Japan two times, and each time I must admit, I prefer to eat at my friends homes because their mothers cooked soooo good! This was a lovely masterclass, I think I’m gonna browse all of your channel for more and more authentic tips. Thank you and your mom 💜 とても感謝しています

    And I’m a subscriber instantly
    I really love the way your mother explains things and that you leave the English subtitles on the bottom of the screen long enough so that I can read what is going on and I can also see in the picture what she’s doing
    So many times these type of videos throw the words up on the screen so fast that you don’t get a chance to read what’s going on and look at the video at the same time
    So thank you for that
    I look forward to seeing all the videos you can possibly produce

    Thank you so much, Aki-san! This is, in my very humble opinion, your best video to date. I LOVED watching your Mother cook so many amazing dishes. I wish you could make more videos like this with her. Maybe you could have her make a dish of food and then do a kitchen tour, talk about the fish grill (sadly, in US, we don't have that here, but we do have larger counter-top ovens), the utensils she has like the little round miso scoop-whisk, and the mesh bowl for the rice and the mesh tray. I am always on the look out for practical kitchen items like that (also not readily found here in US). I bet you could do dozens of these little combo videos with her. I really enjoyed watching you eat her food too. Truly, a wonderful meal made from our Mothers are always the very best. 🙏💖🙏
    Again, thank you so much for the video and for all that you do! Take care and be safe! 😊💖🙏
