Honestly, I've only had experience with the 250 from oase, but I found it lost flow too quickly. The fluval fx6, which is what I've always used, is one of the best on the market, in my opinion. It has some cons, but it's very good.
Hello my friend!!! You usually start to see that even when the filter is clean, it starts to lose flow. In my case, it was more of a precaution, because it had been working uninterruptedly for more than 4 years and I changed it before there was a problem.
Hello my friend!!! In my case I only changed it because I'd already had the filter working 24/7 for many years. I changed it for safety and to avoid a possible problem in the short term. I don't know if anything would happen, but I played it safe. In your case, I don't know what might be going on... it switches off 1-2 times a day to release the air that accumulates in the filter, but that's normal, that's how it works. But if you say it spends more time switched off, try to find out what's going on from the shop where you bought it.
Are you still having that issue? Sounds similar to the problem I’ve had from day one. After unplugging for a water change and plugging back in, it does it’s little cycle of powering right up and after a couple of minutes powering itself off. Then powering on again. But sometimes it doesn’t power back on and just sits idly for a few hours, or sometimes don’t come back on at all. I’m wondering if it could be salvageable if the motor is replaced.
Hello my friend!!! I don't know what could be going on. Normally, when you turn it off, it turns off to purge the air for a short time and then comes back on. If you say it takes a while to turn on, that's not normal. Do you usually fill the filter bucket completely with aquarium water before closing it? It needs to be full so it doesn't trap air.
@@PSKaqua yes, I make sure to fill it and can actually hear the water filling it. But when I plug it up, it cycles by immediately turning on for those couple of minutes and shutting off. Turning back on after the initial cycling process is when I’m having the issue. Sometimes it takes a long while, sometimes it doesn’t turn back on at all.
@ARod-br2ui I used to fill it directly with a hose with water coming out of the aquarium. I didn't expect it to fill directly through the inflow tube. I don't know if that's how you do it. But if it takes so long to start or doesn't start at all, it must be a problem with the engine.
Awesome video. Easy to follow and very concise. Thank you.
Thank you very much for your words, my friend.
They mean a lot to me. ❤️☺️
I'm so glad you liked it and that the video could help. 🤜🏻🤛🏻
Informative. Between the Fluval and Oase biomaster 850 canister filter models which one do you think is more reliable?

Thanks for making this. After how many years will it start showing wear and tear ?
Hello my friend.
This filter was working until I started hearing some noises about 5 years ago.
Thank you for your comment.
How do you know when it’s time to replace the impeller?
