I will always have a special place in my heart for The Statler Brothers! My grandma was their secretary all the way up until they retired. I remember sitting in their "meeting" room eating oranges, while Harold made my little brother and I laugh hysterically 🤣 we still keep in touch with Jimmy once in a while. These guys were the kindest men I've ever met. They definitely kick-started my passion for singing. Man so many awesome memories!
@elizabethhiers Awesome! My grandparents live in spotswood, between Greenville and Lexington, Va. I love Staunton. I always make sure to stop in at the old Dairy Wrights drive-in restaurant!
@deekrivers1 Thanks! I'm only 30. Not many kids my age would know who they are. The only people I could ever brag about it to were always older than me 🤣 Definitely had a blessed childhood.
Tempted to say one of the greatest country songs ever written, and performed. But it really transcends country. The comic but achingly painful verses by the tenors were just brilliant. And Harold hitting the beautifully deep "Kaaa-ngaroo" a half beat before the others was always one of the most fun two seconds I could ever enjoy in a song. RIP Harold, and Lew.
