Beautiful harmonies as the sun comes up to greet the day is what I hear from this delightful song. Anybody, who feels depression, lost in life everyday they wake-up feel the words of this great song. Love it!
The truth of Teenage Fanclub, as I see it, is that they scaled a mighty Himalayan peak with Bandwagonesque (K2 perhaps), after mucking around in the foothills with their first two albums. They came down from that rarefied atmosphere with the understated (but still excellent) Thirteen, only to make the successful ascent of Everest, with their, in my opinion, bona fide masterpiece, Grand Prix (one of the greatest power pop albums of all time). Songs … and Howdy maintained the elevated standards, if not quite reaching Grand Prix’s heights. After, that, like a renegade, Snow White, they drifted. Man-Made and Shadows had sublime glimpses of the old melodic magic but seemed patchy. Here, alas, again represented a decline. The new one? Jury’s out. Definite slow-burner, though. Thing is, with Grand Prix in particular, we were spoiled. I must’ve listened to that album, say, 500 times and to this day it’s as fresh and meaningful as the first listen. Not many albums do that for me.
Agree with this. But this track is a beauty. Grand Prix up there with Radio City, but the last few LPs have only had glimpses. Wonderful glimpses. Glad they are there though and LOVE Euros's nutty keys. Welcome Mr Childs.
Heard 4 songs from "Endless Arcade".... my favourite so far of the four and like all 4. Teenage Fanclub can heal people who listen to their music however, someone feels on any given day. They're such a special band ✨
For the first time I wont be buying the new Teenage Fanclub album, great band in their day , but the songs I have heard off Endless Arcade have all been very weak.
Like Belle & Sebastian they have lost what made them great....Everything Flows/Sparkys Dream/Don't Look Back/Radio/I Need Direction - that is Teenage Fanclub. Sorry, but this doesn't do it for me these days.
Oh, I couldn't disagree more! Where to start... I'd be worried if their music had never evolved as they are all older and wiser people now. Would you have wanted the Beatles to record variations of "She Loves You" forever? Of course not. Art evolves because artists evolve, grow and mature. As TF fans age and mellow out, so does their music but that is in no way a bad thing. It's been an utter joy growing older with TF as the soundtrack to my life!
@@angellacanfora Oh, I couldnt disagree more ! Where to start Theband are older, half the band are gone, new members completely different direction spending to much time in the studio, ripping the soul out of Rock n roll. It is possible for older people to do good music, look at Mogwai and Arab Strap both have released superb albums this year. The fannies havent done a good album this decade, they aint evolving they are regressing.
@@angellacanfora The difference is The Beatles got better! This mellow stuff isn't for me....but everyone else seems to be liking it from the comments on here. Such is life. Bands have an impossible task pleasing all the people, all the time.
@@TheGrandmasterMan It's totally OK to not like the direction their music has taken. It definitely doesn't have the verve & pep that defined their early years. But you & I fundamentally disagree on what constitutes "better." What is "better" in music? Technical expertise? Is it flashy solos you want? Are you disappointed they haven't attempted a jazz/fusion odyssey? For me, their music has absolutely improved. It has matured and evolved, like fine wine. The musicianship is tighter, the lyrics wry & wise. I'm not sure that there is "better" in art, period. There's only what you like and don't like. Your comment "they've lost what makes them great," should have included "...to me." Because to me (and many of us here!) they're just as great as ever.
It took over 30 years, but TFC have finally produced an album I won't be buying. Very poor, by their standards. Nothing I've heard so far has sparked the faintest glimmer of interest. What's gone wrong?!
Love the way Norman transforms a sad feeling into something extremely beautiful and positive
Beautiful, elemental and torrential like the rain
Or just plain wet.
beatles in heaven, fanclub on earth.
Brilliant... You can totally hear Eros' input in these melodies. Very Gorkys but still pure Fanclub.
Very true, clear gorky's tones coming through on this.
Yep, reminds me a bit of Christmas Eve - which TF also covered
Blimey, Mr Blake is writing some of the best tunes of his career.
Onwards TFC!
the most celtic sound I've heard them do x
That’s ironic, given their football preferences.
What an absolutely beautiful song. 👌
Superb!
I can't wait for the new full album.
Cheers from Sao Paulo City, Brazil!
Heartache never sounded so beautiful.

Goodness me, that's beautiful. 👌
Thank you from Brazil!!! Beautiful song - as always.
I just can't wait for the new album Boys
Linda canção. Me lembrou muito The Byrds. Thank you guys.
Yo tambien
I was going to say the same thing! I love the Byrds too.

Beautiful chord progression.
Wow a troubled mind so relevant to these days just now. Class again TF, looking forward to the album
2022 has only further kicked that sentiment up a multitude of notches.
Gorgeous.
Beautiful as always! The soundtrack to my life keeps giving
Aye... nice that.
Really, really nice.

Sweetness!
Hello from Portugal! 👍👋❤️
For the first time I wont be buying the new Teenage Fanclub album, great band in their day , but the songs I have heard off Endless Arcade have all been very weak.
Been weak for years....starting to think Gerry Love wrote all the bangers
@@TheGrandmasterMan True the last 3 albums have been very average, this one maybe below average judging by the 4 songs I have heard so far

Gerard can't be replaced.....they try their Best but it's just not enough.....everything finally comes to an End....sadly
think after 30 years your ears have ceased to function, I feel for you :)
