REAL STORY 1. His father Vlad II got his throne (of Wallachia) from the OTTOMANS.. without the Turks Vlad III Tepes (aka dracula) would NEVER have a claim to begin with! 2. He was given as political prisoner to the Ottomans (like Theon was given to the Starks in Game of Thrones) together with his younger brother Radu 3. The ONLY reason he was any good in battle was because he had training in the royal schools from the best Ottoman Turkish warriors. 4. The Ottomans never "feared" him, they were disgusted by the stench etc of the thousands he had impaled (most of the Christians btw) their supply lines were cut off, and Vlad kept skirmishing and using guerrilla tactics. 5. You know why Vlad hated the Turks so much? The crown Prince (Shezade) became really good friends with Radu but disliked Vlad because Vlad was twisted very early on. Vlad HATED his little brother and the prince (later Sultan) for that reason. 6. When his father was killed by John Hunyadi and the Boyars.. (his father was murdered and his eldest brother was blinded and buried alive) the TURKS, suppressed the rebellion and put Vlad on the throne 7. The prince became Sultan, and when it was time to pay taxes Vlad had the messengers hats/turbans nailed to their heads because he claimed he was offended that they hadn't taken them off (it was an excuse to torture them and say I'm not paying shit) 8. He held off for a while with the help of Hunyadi whom he later worked for after being defeated (YES THE GUY THAT MURDERED HIS FATHER AND BURIED HIS BROTHER ALIVE) 9. His little brother Radu (Had converted to Islam and was a loyal Subject of his child hood friend the Sulta) defeated him, he fled to his ally, his ally was scared of the Ottomans so he imprisoned him for over a decade. Then 13 years or so later Radu suddenly died and Vlad was let out of prison. 10. Vlad tried take wallachia again, 2 months after he started his attack, he was captured, his head was put on a pike and sent to Istanbul lol. Vlad was a psycho bitch, who's biggest success was destroying small ottoman encampments by infiltrating them dressed as an Ottoman Knight (Sipahi) using his fluent Turkish. He also raided and murderd thousands of Christians in Ottoman territory ..
kyleduhskater They never threatened to take the throne .. and it wasn't HIS kingdom, it belonged to the Sultan and he was allowed to reign over that land in return for tax etc. Fact is, the Ottomans gave him the throne, much like they gave his father before him the throne. But when it was time to pay taxes. Vlad decided to torture and murder the innocent messengers/tax collectors. This was a really pathetic thing to do, as messengers etc never got killed not even among enemies. This was vlad putting up a middle finger saying thanks for the throne but I'm not paying. Which is why the Ottomans defeated him and gave Wallachia to his little brother Radu. And when Radu died and Vlad tried to take Wallachia again, this time they captured and killed him in less than 2 months.
3choBlast3r Wallachia wasnt at that time under ottoman occupation... you need to conquer and also keep a massive army in a country to be under occupation, even the sultan cant aford to occupy all his greed wishes to. Wallachia was a vasal state to the ottomans.. if you even know what that means. Meaning they were under the "protection" and influence of the ottoman empire but they were free like before. The sultan would have wanned to put Radu as leader first before Vlad, but he couldnt do so because Radu was a betrayer to the christian (orthodox) land as he converted to islam (and was molested as child by Mehmed's father Murad2 the previous sultan, or so does a greek chronicle mention ). So the sultan Mehmed had no choice but to let Vlad who was orthodox on the Throne of Wallachia. Stop talking bullshiet dude the ottomans may have been a strong empire but they cant occupy all balkans at same time, get educated please . thank you.
No....not the damn Twilight references. Please, for the sake of good, non-wussified vampire movies, don't ever compare them to Twilight. Any men who were forced to watch those horrid films, as a female I send my condolences and sympathy. Haha! For real.
Finally its about time someone told his real story of who he was that hav being mislead in culture and movies for so long,at last the warrior that became a mortal god like icon in history.
they're not in mainstream pop culture anymore lol if anything it's because of comments like yours that people are still reminded of those god awful books and movies.
No such thing as a real Vampire. Vampires don't exist, and quit comparing every Vampire movie to The Twilight Saga. Just watch Dracula Untold and enjoy it for what it is. And give the lead actor, Luke Evans, a break. Last comment more directed at people who make a fuss about his sexuality.
You all still don't understand, they are telling the story of Vlad Tepes before he became Dracula. And how he was friendly and loyal to everyone to save them.
Lol Dracula is after the historical king Vlad the Impaler. He would decorate his castle with the heads of his enemies, and grew up a prisoner. This is practically a Disney version on, Vlad "the king". Still looks like a great moive :P cant wait.
i think she's saying it as ''like samurai movies, (like) Princess Bride, (like) LOTR.'' and not ''like (the) samurai movies: Princess Bride (and) LOTR.''
i dont understand why so many people are bashing this film already, when people were flocking to see twilight? quit yer bitchin, a vampire is finally becoming badass again! CANT WAIT!
I'm not going to hate on the movie because I have not seen it yet. However I couldn't help but noticing from what I saw in the trailer, it looks like a film fashion enthusiasts would love. I'm more into vampire films that has a darker tone. The last good vampire film I seen was Shadow of The Vampire. After that it all went down hill. This doesn't piss me off nor does it make me want to go see it.
IMO it looks good. I'm definitely bent on seeing it. To the Commenters b#*&%ing about the real historical facts, just give the movie a shot. There has never been nor will there ever be a movie based on real events that is 100 percent accurate and true to the source material. A page in a book doesn't successfully translate to a page in a screenplay.
Well, they might have a movie about the real story of Vlad Tepes after this. They did that with Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Shortly after that movie, they came out with Lincoln, lol. So, who knows? Though I personally like this so much better than the real story. I'm a vampire fanatic. :)
When both of them took ideas from Francis Ford Coppola's Bram Stoker's Dracula....Dave Cox (head developer of LOS) and Kouta Hirano (creator of hellsing) both claimed to have used plot points from Coppola's movie. Which was the first piece of media to combine both the fictional count with the historical prince.
If you played Castlevania; Lords Of Shadow, you're familiar with this Dracula. Let me assure you, I'm not calling this a Lords Of Shadow ripoff. I don't think it will be, but they are both Dracula origin stories. If they're similar that's okay, because they'll both be awesome.
People if ye want to see a real Dracula/Vlad Tepe's story just buy it from eBay UK (International) movie called 'Vlad Țepeș' from Romania, it's an old movie an it explains the real life of Dracula/Vlad III, not this super effects bullshit. Just saying, and where is his mustaches? Lol.
No. ThePizzadude93 Did you see his real portrait? At least have some mustache, instead of that stubble! Ha. Not speaking about his little so called "extra" there.. With his arm summoning all those bats. Did i just saw the Nosferatu guy?(F. W. Murnau's work).. This movie is full of comedy, well compared to the real history, this is a comedy. Kids will love this guy after these series.
Vlad was one of the worst mass murderers in history... I don't like how they're making him out to be a heroic figure. Then again this is a movie about vampires haha.
Harsh but just leader eh? Loved by his people? This movie is going to be such a disservice to both the lore of Dracula the Vampire as well as Vlad Tepes, who was a bloodthirsty psychopath who liked to IMPALE people on spikes and dine in the midst of the spikes. The same nut who impaled 20,000 of his own people on poles and but them around the border of his country to ward of the Ottoman Empire. This is cherrypicking to make what in history, as they throw around the words "inspired by this historic figure", is a frightening psycopath into a "gentle, family loving soul who will just do whatever it takes to save his people because his heart is so full of love", Vlad Tepes wasn't a hero, he was a tyrant. What's next, a moving biopic about Hitler and how he actually was a peaceloving soul who endured personal sacrifice to help Germany?
Now THAT is what a vampire should be!!!
F*ck Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!

kyleduhskater

Luke Evans is just the perfect guy for the role. Brilliant casting
seriously, this movie is the movie to bring back vampires in their prime!
Good guy Vlad.. Fist bumping his enemies to show respect.
#respekt
Good feeling about this movie😃
Seriously, he better not sparkle in the light
Twilight ruined your perspective on Vampires.
No....not the damn Twilight references. Please, for the sake of good, non-wussified vampire movies, don't ever compare them to Twilight. Any men who were forced to watch those horrid films, as a female I send my condolences and sympathy. Haha! For real.
I'm just wondering what the publisher of those books was smoking that he actually published those books.
***** she said she got the idea from a dream, but I think she was just on crack
Again, Stephanie Meyer had an idea just like Bram Stoker and Anne Rice and whoever else did who writes Vampire novels.
Dat Giant bat fist tough :0
True...
Lol like Mark Wahlberg's in Transformers 4!
Finally its about time someone told his real story of who he was that hav being mislead in culture and movies for so long,at last the warrior that became a mortal god like icon in history.
Trailers are always fucking great :)
Yes. Something we desperately need. We need to wash out twilight vampires out of pop culture.
they're not in mainstream pop culture anymore lol if anything it's because of comments like yours that people are still reminded of those god awful books and movies.
Damn straight!
Real vampires do NOT sparkle.

Wow. So now he's some kind of superhero.
Hey Rickon Stark,BTW this movie looks good.
Lol Dracula is after the historical king Vlad the Impaler. He would decorate his castle with the heads of his enemies, and grew up a prisoner. This is practically a Disney version on, Vlad "the king". Still looks like a great moive :P cant wait.
...Did she just say the Princess Bride and LOTR were Samurai movies... Oh sweet Jesus * face palm*
no
i think she's saying it as ''like samurai movies, (like) Princess Bride, (like) LOTR.'' and not ''like (the) samurai movies: Princess Bride (and) LOTR.''
i dont understand why so many people are bashing this film already, when people were flocking to see twilight? quit yer bitchin, a vampire is finally becoming badass again! CANT WAIT!
PLEASE! bring back the real Dracula, the badass blood sucking monster! He'll be ashamed of what happened to his bloodline in this generation...
They should get some inspiration from hellsing ultimate
He is no Bela Lugosi! Which I'm thankful for.
so cool
I'm not going to hate on the movie because I have not seen it yet. However I couldn't help but noticing from what I saw in the trailer, it looks like a film fashion enthusiasts would love. I'm more into vampire films that has a darker tone. The last good vampire film I seen was Shadow of The Vampire. After that it all went down hill. This doesn't piss me off nor does it make me want to go see it.
Well, Rickon Starks in it, so that seals the deal for me.
IMO it looks good. I'm definitely bent on seeing it. To the Commenters b#*&%ing about the real historical facts, just give the movie a shot. 2:23 Rickon has been found!
that last scene looks suspiciously familiar to a clip from the lords of shadow 2 trailer
Reminds me of Castlevania Lords of Shadow
Better then #Sparkling
This movie looks fuckin sweeeeeeeet!!!!!!!
Hold on.. Is that the assassin's creed unity soundtrack??
I would have preferred to hear Gabriel Belmont from Castlevania's story but this looks promising.
Hope it turns out a good movie.
Remaking?? You mean not being original and getting the ideas from lords of shadow and hellsing ultimate sorta
No just no.
Love Lords of Shadows and Hellsing Ultimate!
When both of them took ideas from Francis Ford Coppola's Bram Stoker's Dracula....Dave Cox (head developer of LOS) and Kouta Hirano (creator of hellsing) both claimed to have used plot points from Coppola's movie. looks a lot like a Castlevania LOS game... XDDD
Can anyone tell me the name of the song playing during the trailer? Can't find it anywhere lol

But enough talk, have at you!
I wonder if they'll show Vlads' impalement "forests" in this movie. How far will they take it? Hmm.
am i the only one who cant tell between the Fast furious bad guy and Howard Stark?
If you played Castlevania; Lords Of Shadow, you're familiar with this Dracula. Let me assure you, I'm not calling this a Lords Of Shadow ripoff. I don't think it will be, but they are both Dracula origin stories. If they're similar that's okay, because they'll both be awesome.
Will there be Alucard?
I rather read a book.
Lol.
Lol right! And where are all the impalings? There should be many logs up asses, seeing as how Vlad impaled sooo many people.
King Keefy Yea, and didn't he also have dinner sorrounded by the victims.
kevi1813 Ya he also cut off his brother or his fathers head and boiled it then placed it on the dinner table...he wasn't fucked up at all lol
He does have a mustache. Its just in the form of a stubble.
They shouldve casted a turkish actor to play mehmet.

Vlad was one of the worst mass murderers in history... I don't like how they're making him out to be a heroic figure. Then again this is a movie about vampires haha.

Ha. Ned starks son is in this.

What's next, a moving biopic about Hitler and how he actually was a peaceloving soul who endured personal sacrifice to help Germany?
This is the reason why movies about games are so bad, I hope this one they do not destroy it just like re movie franchise.
But this is not based on a video game it's based on history.
It's history. Not based off any video game.
Last

First
Hopefully its not another stupid chick vampire movie.
Doubt it will.
