I have been looking for more ambient drone albums to add to my sleep playlist. I keep scrobbling Stars of the Lid and Eluvium albums to the point where last.fm thinks they're some of my most actively listened to albums when I'm actually sleeping to them.
Literally the same as me. And Their Refinement of the Decline is one of my top albums with Tired Sounds, even though it feels like I don’t actively listen to Tired Sounds much, should probably change that
Bro, just watched your QBurns Abstract Message review and am glad to see youre still doing it. I have a request: Boomish! - The play at home version Its a really interesting concept album about 70s game show kind of vibe with DnB and stuff: note, they do have real jazz chops and some segments for them (which you dont seem to review) but they are spiced up too. I would love to see you review it one day, the whole album is on youtube and i have a rip if you want it
I think Sleep Deprivation is another decent Black Dog album. Pretty pleasant, have to admit. I think it works best in the context of background music, though SD06 and SD21 are really good, enough to make me reconsider that opinion. Everything else though is more like a lucid experience that doesn't really make an impact (at least personally), something like Somnium by Robert Rich but more reminiscent of other artists like Boards of Canada and Autechre's Amber in some areas (and WAY shorter than that album) Overall I enjoyed it but not to the point of me considering checking out again, also wish I could find the album more relatable as someone going through a rough sleep schedule atm. I'd give about a 7/10 as well.
planning to cover his latest project in the next SSIM, but in the meantime I did once cover his album "Addle" and thought it was pretty decent ua-cam.com/video/caAyk-tXZ-g/v-deo.html
I enjoyed this album, pretty fun listen for studying. Would you review must d!e's newest album, I know briddm can be based and stupid in general, but for bass music goes I think its somewhat interesting project. Must D!e as a artist I think makes somewhat interesting music and I think you're interpretation would be insightful. Artists I would like to see you review in the future: Varg2tm Chloe lula Tham airod Rezz 2Hollis Zomboy Eva 808 Marcel dettman Charlotte de witte Liturgy*ark work Korine Kaela Death grips*bottomless pit Bjork* vesperatine
Damn these guys are still on top of it even in their older years
great review, im a new sub, looking forward to more reviews!
Every time I see the artist name The Black Dog, my brain instantly jumps to The Other Black Dog by Genesis Owusu (incredible song btw)

Even at their worst they are still up near, if not the top choice of my listening habits

Nice review Wonky! Have you ever considered reviewing anything by Bogdan Raczynski? I’d love to hear your thoughts on his work
