I think Tom has updated/increased his opinion of this game from when this was posted. On his website, he now rates the game a 9.0/10 and gives it a Seal of Excellence (rather that Approval noted in this video). I hope to play it!
This was probably my most anticipated Kickstarter fulfillment of the year and it hasn't disappointed. In addition, the solo mode is one of the most interesting I've encountered in a long time.
I think I saw this when Suzanne talked about it and it intrigued me then enough to watch it on BGG. Backed it when I had the opportunity and it came out pretty well. I also like the Roll n Write/Train theme.
Can we get a top ten Roll and Write/Draw a tile and Write games list? I've played Qwixx, Qwinto, and Rolling America but never one that had you making paths. For instance, is this better than Kokoro: Avenue of the Kodama?
DPDLC Steamrollers and qwixx are my favorite roll writes. Qwixx is just lighter and quicker. Rolling America & Kokoro are ok. Roll to the Top is coming soon and I've played online. I think it will be really good.
I saw this on KS and was really interested in backing it, since Railways of the world is one of my favorite games... But I already just backed Habitats from cwali games :( Hope to get this via an other route...
Actually the exhaust coming from a locomotive through the "chimney" is both steam and smoke from the fire. The exhaust from the cylinders driving the locomotive forward is ejected up inte the chimney to create better draft over the fire. So the more steam you consume, the greater the draft and thus more steam production :-) Clever I 'd say... You also have a safety valve on top of the boiler, that also sometimes eject some steam straight out...
On deliveries, the die must match the city you are delivering "FROM".... unless you have the power that lets you change that. I think that tile is OP.

i have been getting my butt kicked in the solo variant.
Gotta try it today, by first look not sure how good it is.

In my opinion this is better than Kokoro. Kokoro does have dry erase boards and markers. I wish this game had these components instead of the pad.
All you need is a laminator. (It's so worth the purchase)
This very good solo mode. I can’t wait to bring it to my game board group.
One of these times that hammer is gonna go straight through the table. "Approved!" BAM!

@namrevo84 Supposedly Stronghold will be publishing this in the US. It's a summer release I believe.
Why does he keep saying Roland Wright's name funny? He has been on fire recently.
If it's a steamroller, then why is there black smoke.... Hmmmmmm
steam engines have two chimneys, one for the fire (coal, black smoke)) and a safety steam exhaust (white) ;-)
Eric Hanuise thanks for the info :)
