- Today I visit the Famous grave of Paddington Bear creator Michael Bond. Paddington Bear famously sat with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II during her 70th jubilee anniversary celebrations, and once again won the heart of the world.
Thomas Michael Bond CBE (13 January 1926 - 27 June 2017) was a British author. He is best known for a series of fictional stories for children, featuring the character of Paddington Bear. More than 35 million Paddington books have been sold around the world, and the characters have also appeared in a popular film series (featuring Paddington and Paddington 2 to date) and on television.

The Queen and Paddington, this year’s TV magic, we didn’t realise just how special that would be just a few months later
That particular film will remain iconic for all time, it’s the last time we all saw the queen speaking with clarity just 3 months before her demise
💯% ...👍🏻
Can’t help but love Paddington. I did read that the Queen was approached about filming Paddington and actually using an actress to play her. However she insisted on doing it herself and leaving the younger generation a lovely memory of her. Yet the nation all loved this clip.
Michael Bond is a great children’s author. 📚
I’m so thrilled even now, that the Queen was happy to be in the sketch herself, and to do it so well!! Her facial expressions with Paddingtons carry on are wonderful, especially when you realise she wasn’t actually with him! I don’t know how they managed it, but for us, her family, especially grandchildren and generations to come, her fun and sense of humour have been encapsulated forever with Paddington Bear
And marmalade sandwiches! ( and everyone always wondered what the Queen kept in her handbags lol) 🙋♀️💐
Yes it’s true, Paddington and the Queen will live on forever. Thank you so much for giving us Paddington Bear, Michael Bond may you rest in eternal peace ✨🌹 I loved that on his stone. Please look after this Bear 🐻.
Awww I absolutely love Paddington Bear & I'm so glad that Michael Bond created the character ❤️ I still have a homemade Paddington Bear which my paternal grandma had made for my 8th birthday (42 years ago) Rest in peace Michael & thank you ❤
Who could not love Paddington Bear with his big hat and wellie boots. The clip with The Queen will always have a special in our hearts that was brill. Parsley the lion was my favourite children's program when younger (not revealing age lol)
Brilliant video Paul. Respect given as always x
My cousin worked at the Paddington bear factory. Thank you Michael for giving us this little bear. R.I.P Michael 🙏🙏💖
I adored Paddington when my children were young .Continued to adore him when my grandchildren were born now still adore him with great granchildren. I now just love him for me.................
I loved Paddington and still pass on the lovely stories and books Michael Bond had written. My grandchildren love him. Love please look after this bear. Michael the legend. Thank you so much Paul x🧸lovely memories as a child 😊
What a lovely video...we all love Paddington Bear...he's become even more special since he met the Queen...so glad you put that part in your video, very touching. My mother in law has an original paddington bear ❤

Wow lovely , someone who will be remembered forever 🐻rest in eternal peace forever Michael thank you for bringing Paddington Bear 🐻 to life for the whole world to enjoy 🌎❤️
I think we will always cherish in our hearts the joy Michael Bond brought to children and adults alike. Such a poignant vid. Cheers again, Paul 👍
I had the honour of visiting Micheal Bonds place of rest today with my daughter to pay our respects. I was read paddington to as a child and was given a bear at the age of 8, I read paddington to my daughter when she was little and one day will pass on my bear to her. Bless you Micheal and thank you for the memories.
Another lovely tribute, thanks Paul. It is perhaps worth remembering that it was Jeremy Clarkson’s parents who made the first toy Paddington Bear’s for Jeremy and his sister and Michael Bond was so impressed with them that he awarded the Clarkson’s the sole rights to producing them. The money the Clarkson’s business made paid for Jeremy’s education so I suppose we have Michael Bond and Paddington to thank for launching Jeremy Clarkson on the world! 😂
I grew up with Paddington Bear, loved Paddington Bear with Queen Elizabeth II. May her Majesty R. I.P
Another great find Paul . Who doesn't love little Paddington xxxx

Beautiful words on his headstone. I loved Paddington as a child. He has always been there. I was in tears seeing Paddington with our amazing Queen. Just perfect .. Just a side note if this comes up in a quiz you do Ben Wishaw is the voice of Paddington in the new films plus tv show and Ben is Q in James Bond films
I loved Paddington and The Herbs as a child, I still think they’re both lovely to watch now too.

I absolutely adore Paddington bear since I was a small child Micheal Bond was amazing thanks Paul for visiting Micheal’s resting place .❤. X
Love Paddington Bear thank you Michael thank you Paul
I wasn't actually aware of who the creator of Paddington Bear was, I was watching DNA Journey on TV a few weeks ago and it was really special, Kate Garraway found out she is actually related to this family and when younger , always use to eat marmalade sandwiches, which is absolutely mind-blowing given the fact she is a relative of the actual creator of one of the most famous bears in the world.
The Queen really did have a sense of humour when she starred alongside Paddington in a sketch, and she actually shown there really was a fun side to her.
As always Paul your narration of these videos is both respectful and compassionate, thank you.
Queen and Paddington lasting memory of Queen . Thanks Paul

Nice one. I live in Reading, and Presentation College is near my house. So good to know someone special to past an present generations lived here and walked the same streets. Other celebrities are Ricky Gervais,
Kate Winslet, Billy Ocean, one of the members of Bony M, and Oscar Wilde spent time in Reading jail. Thanks Paul.
Bit late watching this... just had to say that although I have fond memories of Paddington I have even fonder ones of The Herbs....me and my little sister used to sing all the songs....'I'm a rather fat feathery owl called sage' and 'I'm a very friendly lion called parsley' still stick in my mind now...thankyou Michael for being such a special part of my childhood...Rest in Perfect Peace...
The queen's jubilee was brilliant
Thank you for bringing this video of a wonderful man and a cute bear.
Sadly nobody has kept the grave in order.
Hi Paul,
Thank you.
Never new the authors name.
The English have a unique ability to produce author's who write outstanding children's book's, the legacy lives on through Michael Bonds, Paddington Bear.
That church was huge, once the restoration is finished you must return and give us a tour.

Always loved Paddington bear 🐻 as a child, my birthday/Christmas wish was to hope for a actual bear with those little red wellingtons! Thankyou Paul for another great vlog 👍
Micheal bond narrowly escaped with his life. In Reading Berkshire when the town centre was bombed by a German bomber in February 1943 if I remember right. I'm from Reading he came up with Paddington idea while in Reading.
As others have commented, Paddington will always make me think of the Queen. My boys absolutely loved the Queen talking to Paddington, incredible clip. As always a respectful and informative video 😊
I also love Paddington in fact I own a Paddington bear 🐻 and will always look after him. Thanks once again Paul for another great video ❤
Lovely video. The world without Paddington is not one I care to dwell on. Not many know it was Jeremy Clarkson's mother who made the first Paddington Bear toy.
There'll only be one person worthy of narrating Paddington, Sir Michael Hordern

Used to love Paddington Bear as a kid another great video as always Paul 👍
Jeremy Clarkson’s mother, Shirley Clarkson was the lady who designed the Paddington Bear soft toy.
I had to look it up as I thought she’d wrote the books. Silly me.
I wasn’t really into Paddington Bear when I was young. It was nearly the last cartoon before the children’s tv finished for the night. That’s probably why.
Thank you
