I think it is awesome that you did all of that work so your mother in law wouldn’t feel put out. And doing this and taking it to her house to celebrate her birthday. Wow. She is very blessed to have a daughter in law like you. 💝
How lovely that you made such beautiful food to bring along to your mother in law’s birthday celebration, and you could contribute your talents in such a loving way. Sometimes little things can make such a big difference, so your time and the love that goes into everything you do shines through Sonya! Your in laws hit the jackpot with you!
I agree with everything Sonya is amazing and so is her beautiful family: I am a Roman Catholic Italian and have never used so many different spices she uses but I do now: if your new to Sonya’s channel you will get hooked ❤️ I’ve learned so much her cooking and baking are off the charts
When we visit Jewish friends I usually bring scented candles for the hostess to use another time, or some flowers ( already arranged and in water). For other friends I bring a salad or some cupcakes. I hope it was a wonderful celebration for you and your mother in law.
SHALOM DEAR Sonya, thanks for sharing with us all those delicious recipes, I hope you had a wonderful time by your in-laws, may HASHEM bless your mother in law, give her health and happiness ,but I'm sure she's so very thankful to have you in her life!As always, MAY HASHEM BLESS AND PROTECT YOU AND ALL YOUR LOVED ONES, ALL THE TIME AMEN ve AMEN!!!ISHTABACH SHEMO leADDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!❤❤❤
Hi all. I hope your mother in law had a wonderful birthday and Shabbat having all her family round to celebrate. What wonderful food you took along with you too - so nice to think of mother in law not having to cook too much when all the family round - nice to share it all around. Shabbat Shalom.
Same here, I love brownies with walnuts🥰To me it just tastes better🥳Happy birthday to your Mother n law🎂Always enjoy all of your videos. Thank You so much for sharing all of your great recipes. Love them all. God Bless🦋🩷
To ciężka praca.
Sonya, I love 💕 how you don’t have to measure anything when making your bread. Lol! You have been making your sourdough bread for so long that you just eyeball it 😱 & it comes out perfect. I think you could do it in your sleep. Lol! Thank you for sharing all your great recipes with the rest of us. Sending you & your family much 💕
Sonya, I've only come to your channel in the last few days and can't tell you how grateful I am. So much respect! You are an absolutely gifted chef- just amazing in your kitchen and you tee all of this up to record and put on UA-cam! Your children are so beautiful and the clip here with your husband is precious-you both obviously deeply love and respect each other. What a gift to your children, to your family, to all of us. And all of this, your cooking, your Shabbat preparations, the children, your marriage, your faith are a lot of work-yet they are all clearly rooted in and emanate from your spirit, your love. I am a Catholic and have always had deep affection and respect for the traditions and practices, especially around family, that are part of the Jewish faith. Thank you so much for sharing these with us- for the work and the love which you do for us here in letting us into your home-so much. спасибо-
You need to get some of those collapsible crates at Costco for when you take food out to another Shabbat dinner. They are fantastic - so sturdy and easy to pack, and they then collapse and fold flat. Amazon sells them, too, but they are much more expensive there (shipping costs since they are rather large.) At Costco they are about $8 each.
What a beautiful blessing for your mother in law's birthday, to have her family around the table for Shabbat ❤it is a dream of mine. Your videos always make me smile, thank you for sharing
Living in Montreal, where bagels are sacred I have grown up loving them in all ways possible. Simply with just butter or cream cheese and smoked salmon is delicious. I also love them with peanut butter and jam or all sorts of sandwiches like tuna or with various types of cold cuts. Sesame and poppy seed are my favourite.
I am Muslim and like your videos, We have the same tradition. I am from Turkiye, if we go just for a dinner or lunch we take some dessert or chocolate , if we stay over we help for cooking , washing the dishes , cleaning , bring some groceries not to give the hosts burden ( of course they are upset with that :) . These days are good excuses to be with beloved ones. Thanks for the lovely videos.
Such a beautiful family! I am going to do the chicken recipe on this video. You did inspire me with a earlier purple cabbage recipe. I added "chipolte ranch dressing" ( kick 👢! ) , mayo, applecider vinegar, pepper & salt ( touch of lemon juice). Frank will be home anytime now. So I shall see if he will try it!
Hi Sonya, I’m so happy I found your UA-cam channel. I live in Israel and I enjoy watching your videos, especially at this unsettling time and as the jets fly over our house on the way to their missions. You are very calming and I will be making many of your recipes. You have a beautiful family and I wish you much hatzlacha. Vivien, Elazar, Israel.
What a feast! Your MIL must have been very happy with the foods you brought her. I actually like my bagels plain. I plan on trying to make some this winter when the weather is more amiable to running an oven. As for efficient packing, one thing I find that helps is to put the heavier/bulky items at the bottom, and then fill in the space with the smaller items before topping with the more fragile items; kinda like how they bag groceries at the store (or used to, when paper bags were more common). When it comes to open-top items like the tray with the chickens, you'll want to create as level a surface as you can in the bag for it to rest on. You're right-it's like Tetris in real life!
Good morning Sonya. I enjoyed your video so much. I bring dessert and wine when we are guests. My favorite bagels are plain and sesame seed with cream cheese or butter. Every time I watch your videos I get so hungry. I also am inspired and instructed by you. I hope your family had a wonderful time and Happy Birthday wishes to your Mother-in-law! 🎉🎉🎉
My husband, six kids and myself went away for this past Shabbos. I do the same thing. It was my sister in law's birthday and my nephews upsherin (cutting of the boy's hair at the age of three). I baked six large Challahs and made chocolate and apricot babkas. It always feels good to bring a busy host something made from the heart. One should appreciate when family hosts a large family (as BH my sister in law has six children as well). I wish I could make your sourdough bread, but I have tried many times and just have NO TALENT at making that type of bread.
I learned a great trick from food wishes. One only needs a mortar and pestle, all the garlic one would like, and just enough salt to turn the garlic into paste.
Hi , mmm the chicken looks great, when we going visite sometimes I take a big glas jar and put in layers the dry ingredients for some sort of cake or cookies (you can at raisans-nuts enz) put the lid on, and then I bind a wooden spoon with the recepy written on a thick paper, with.a nice naturel cord. For a men I take wine with som nibbles big hug
I'm definitely the Tetris packer in my house, hubby stays far away when food needs to be packaged up. I'm of Soviet Jewish background, so we usually bring cold cuts, salad or two and a dessert with us. When I'm hosting, I request my guests bring whatever they like to drink. Thanks for the video, I might try your pesto marinade recipe next week, maybe on chicken instead of Cornish hens.
Sonya, It was the mayonnaise that made your Cornish Hens so tender. I use Mayonnaise alot as a marinade with just paprika added. And put it in a zip lock baggy with poultry and let it marinate for alittle bit. And then put it on the grill. It turns out Very juicy.
Hi Sonya. Love your vlogs.. always watching. Beautiful kinderlach. ✋️ yes I go a families home I do ask what to bring or a wine is good.. I never sit and wait for them to serve ! Chuzpah to me. So I help put salads on the table clear off even dishes..cleaning.. the wife is tired and Shabbos should be relaxing
It all looks soooo good !! Your bread and how you decorate it on top ? ❤Since you asked, I prefer poppy seeds on my bagels. Loved it when you said your husband does Tetris in his sleep. Lucky! Have a nice week !💚
Thank you again Sonya for sharing your family traditions and your meals they are the most delicious. Will try the hens this week. Your an amazing MOM. When I go to a house that someone is hosting, I usually like to bring a bottle of wine maybe flowers or a baked pie or cookies or donuts, depending on what they are serving.👍❤️😊
Shavua Tov hope you had a meaningful Tisha B'Av,for us when we go to someone for Shabbat if its for a meal,we usually bring some wine or dessert,if we sleeping at someone for Shabbat,we usually bring some food to contribute towards the meals, like schintzel and some kugels,or chicken or meat anything that can be made in advance...so I make it and freeze it and then bring it with to the host for Shabbat
Wow Sonya, those breads look phenomenal!!! The brownies looks so good! (It all looks good) I hope you had a wonderful time with your in-laws, and a very lovely Shabbat! 🩵🙌🏻
Thank you so much and thanks for sharing the brownie recipe. I’m going to make those today I love your channel in your family. It’s funny but it’s almost like I know y’all personally we all love the same God and I was so happy for you in your new home, the kids are growing so fast tell them to slow down some.😂
Firstly, i think it's a tetris thing. I can pack so well, as well. I also don't like to go empty handed. I usually ask what i can bring; pudding, salads, a side dish etc. The one couple who i stayed with most, became like my other family, seldom let me bring something, so i used to bring gifts for her or her hubbie, knowing what they love to eat but don't often buy for themselves. When she had other guests beside myself, then she used to ask me to bring a pudding and a salad. I have a fudgy parev choc brownie microwave dish, which i love to use as a cake layer for ice cream dishes etc as well. I add cinnamon in winter to the brownies, just to up the flavour and add an extra boost to us. I often use a wholewheat flour to give it a different texture. 😋 Shavua tov
When I am a guest at someone for a meal on Shabbat/YT, I, as a single person, that I receive a stipend from BL for Disability, I will bring a pareve chocolate bar which is easy enough to add to any array of desserts that will be served. It is my go-to gift and no one has ever complained about it. I like when Shai is in the video; he has a great sense of humor. It would be nice to have him in more often. I still sometimes go back to the video when Shai needed to cook for Shabbat when the virus that went around the home, met up w U, Sonya, and u were stuck in bed to recuperate....I also enjoyed your video about shidduchim and how u two met. Blessings, love and prayers for all, from Tzfat Israel 🇮🇱.
In my opinion, any type of food gift is the best choice -- they can serve it, leave it to eat later or when they have other guests or they can gift it -- rarely goes to waste ..
Hi sonya , yes i love a family outing or getaway, i love and enjoy everything that you have done,, lve got to try the mayo and basil combo on chicken ,, i love chocolate brownies with walnuts keep it up and keep it coming God's blessings and love ❤️ 😍 💖
Sonja, you always have such pleasant, enjoyable and informative videos. Thank you for sharing your lovely recipes. Would you do (or do you already have) a video on your sourdough starter? Yours looks so vibrant and healthy... I can't get mine to proof... it always goes flat and gets that liquid 'hooch' on top... you make sourdough bread look WAY TOO EASY! Your family is wonderful and your children are such blessings. ❤
Sonya, thank you for another beautiful video. I enjoy seeing the happiness in your kiddos as they gather around you to help or watch you cook. I especially loved the sneak peak of the family leaving for Grandma's. Great memories for the kids, as I still think of mine and my children visiting their Grandparents. I am going to try yet another recipe of yours, this time chicken with may/pesto marinade. Thank you.
What a great idea to use mayonnaise in the chicken! I’m making this! That sourdough looks delicious! Especially right out of the oven with butter and a cup of coffee! One of my favorite scents is a bakery!
Happy Shabbat! I hope you all had a lovely time celebrating! It's 2am now and I want to cook all your recipes, because the food look so delicious! TYFS! 😊🧡😊⭐👏💯
A few years back, B.P. ( before pandemic) there was a coffee shop I used to go to everyday to get coffee of course and their, Bagel Supreme. It was an everything bagel toasted, with cream cheese, lox, tomato, red onion, and capers. It was delicious. Unfortunately, it closed. I try to make my own version but it doesn't taste the same. I guess there's something to be said about mom and pop shops and something so simple but so well done.
I take a bottle of Kosher wine, because everyone’s level of observance is different. I am not Cholov Yisrael, I hold by OU. Bringing wine, or a vege tray is safe, for those who are.
Sonia, please can you make a video on how you make bagels??? I see that you don't put them into boiling water - I want to make them your way ! Thank you! 🥰🥰🥰🥰

What a great idea to use mayonnaise in the chicken! I’m making this! That sourdough looks delicious! Especially right out of the oven with butter and a cup of coffee! One of my favorite scents is a bakery!
Hope it was a great weekend! It must have been fun with so many at the table. Hola from Cuernavaca, Mexico
Thank you for another great video!!
Thanks for watching!
Happy Shabbat! I hope you all had a lovely time celebrating! It's 2am now and I want to cook all your recipes, because the food look so delicious! TYFS! 😊🧡😊⭐👏💯
Excellent it all looks delicious 😊 congratulations 🌼
Very nice l love to see your dinner
A few years back, B.P. ( before pandemic) there was a coffee shop I used to go to everyday to get coffee of course and their, Bagel Supreme. It was an everything bagel toasted, with cream cheese, lox, tomato, red onion, and capers. It was delicious. Unfortunately, it closed. I try to make my own version but it doesn't taste the same. I guess there's something to be said about mom and pop shops and something so simple but so well done.
So sad that so many businesses shut down at that time
Your sourdough breads are just beautiful! I love both “everything but the bagel“ topping and also sesame.
So good!
I take a bottle of Kosher wine, because everyone’s level of observance is different. I am not Cholov Yisrael, I hold by OU. Bringing wine, or a vege tray is safe, for those who are.

Where are the pictures from that weekend? Love watching your channel and your family.
the pictures are in their mind -- they most likely would not take pictures on the Sabbath
I usually bring dessert or bottle of wine when invited for dinner ❤
Have you ever put instant coffee in your Brownies? It’s supposed to bring out the coffee flavor.
Yes!! Thanks for reminding me. I used to do it and it really was such a nice addition
Sonia, please can you make a video on how you make bagels??? I see that you don't put them into boiling water - I want to make them your way ! Thank you! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
