Because being tall and heavy you have a bigger louder and stronger vocal box. I am about 191cm at 100kgs and I have a loud strong voice. Thomas was 198cm at 114kgs and he has the advantage at his disposal.

From there black metal evolved further, especially with the influence of the Norwegian second wave. And i think we can all agree that the album titled 'black metal' by Venom sounds very different from the black metal genre we all know today. i believe if you consider that album as 'black metal' is a subjective opinion. But from a modern perspective i would call Venoms album 'blackened heavy metal.' Since they helped set the bar 😉
