And this time we will go way back to the legendary GTA: San Andreas!
Lamar and Franklin were young homies when the "San Andreas" saga takes off... in a time when pixels were the size of a box, this game would become the game of a generation and pave the way for the famous GTA:V.
Slink and Shawn will go to the roots and give us insight into the "hood", drugs, guns and the Po-po... as we follow CJ, Sweet, Big Smoke and Ryder get caught up in the war between Grove and Ballas while the map turns red.
And watch Tenpenny make life hell for CJ.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is a 2004 action-adventure game developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. It is the seventh title in the Grand Theft Auto series, and the follow-up to the 2002 game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. It was released in October 2004 for PlayStation 2, and in June 2005 for Microsoft Windows and Xbox. The game is set within an open world environment that players can explore and interact with at their leisure. The story follows former gangster Carl "CJ" Johnson, who returns home after the death of his mother and is drawn back into his former gang and a life of crime while clashing with corrupt authorities, rival criminal syndicates, and other enemies. Carl's journey takes him across the fictional U.S. state of San Andreas, which is heavily based on California and Nevada.

hey man, the 90s happened. every night we'd turn the news on and wait for the daily body count. and half of em were less than 14 years old. accidental ricochets at best and wanton negligence just to get one guy at worst. it's actually frightening how accurate the game is. obviously minus the tanks and jetpacks.
Thats why this game is awesome. We need a new game with the "villa" context.

I love that not only have these two VAs played San Andreas before, they're talking about how it was when they lived that life, too. With all the memes about San Andreas over the years and how long it's been since I played it, I forget that the game is often said to be very accurate in portraying gang life in the time and place it's set in.

I love that this time around the voice actors can get more attention and essentially work to get paid. Yeah, I'm sure GTA V paid actors more than ever especially compared to the older days. But seeing them do funny videos, get involved with memes and do interviews... it's just dope.
Yeah I'm glad GTA 5's actors got better deals than their predeccessors, we missed on Tommy appearing in San Andreas because of Rockstar's bullshit.

@idkAlan Thank you for this! This makes a lot of sense and is essentially what I figured happened. Emotions aside its always fucked when people get fucked out of contracts and sucks even more bc they didn't know enough about the game at the time. Thats where the gratitude should/would (imo) come in (from both sides) but a company is a company. I hope he finds solstice in the fact that he MADE the game. He probably has learned from it and his experiences shouldn't just be written off as playing victim tho.

Now, it was "allegedly said" that MC Eiht left early on the production stage of GTA SA. Either it was because of the previously stated poorly paying management, bad treatments, or perhaps other reasons. That's why *Spoiler alert for a 15 YEAR OLD GAME* Ryder's approach in joining the Ballas was a bit abrupt and improvised.

Right? That story of the cops fucking with him and sticking a gun in his mouth was crazy. Then they throw him out knowing he's in rival territory. That's some real evil shit.
Didn't grow up in as rough a neighborhood as them. But we had a few murders and drive by happen nearby. Lot of other crap and some corrupt cops too. Looking back it was just "normal" for us.
I remember one time my friend and I were playing madden and then we heard gunshots go off the next block over. Shut the lights off in my room and we got below the window. We just kept playing with only the TV on while laying on the floor. After we finally heard the sirens and saw that the cops were there we went and got taco bell at like 1 in the morning lol. Took em like 45 mins to get there cause we got a couple games in waiting for them.
Yeah that’s how it is but it ain’t all bad, believe it or not there’s more good times than bad, but you do gotta prepare for bad shit to happen unless you stay inside all the time, In that case you’ll be fine.

Both of them are former gang bangers and drug dealers and If i remember correctly at one point during recording of their lines they told rockstar that the lines they were given sound nothing like how actual gang bangers talked. To which rockstar responded by allowing them to ad lib their lines more to get a more authentic feel.

It’s interesting to me to know that Shawn Fonteno and Slink grew up in this kind of environment. I have a teacher at my school who went through this kind of life, and he told me how rough it was.

Yeah the three protaganists kind of took away from the story in my opinion. I'm hoping we get a prequel or a sequel of CJ going back to liberty city at some point.

Would want Franklin there too but not sure how that would tie in since Franklin clearly doesn't wanna live that life anymore.

I hope some day, you guys at Gamology, can make an "interview" like these, with the principal actors of GTA4 (Niko, Roman, etc). After all this time, would be very interesting to see what and how they remember "their" game.
GTA SA, great story, great VA cast, customization was ahead of it’s time , exploration was fun af. That game will outlive all of us. 🙏🏼🌹🙏🏼

GTA V would’ve been another San Andreas if Franklin was the only playable character in story mode.
@Blank Mane not at all, if gta v was focused on just Franklin, that’s just more game time to get to know Franklin and his story, similar to how people like you said Arthur would be a downgrade from John marston but we spent so much more time with Arthur that he ended up being better in the end.
