Nietzsche's point was that before his time religion played a major role in how Humanity viewed the universe and our place in it. It gave us comfort and structure. Around Nietzsche's time it was obvious that so many stories in ancient texts are silly and don't align with reality, that you can't take them seriously anymore. Therefore we will need some ethical system that's not "because the God says so", otherwise we will drown in nihilism.

I've been playing this on repeat for the last half hour trying to memorize it. It's so difficult Red HOW did you do it??? Either way I am determined to get it eventually. Amazing work 💜
HUGE SHOUT OUT TO YOU GUYS! You guys deserve so many more than 5000 subs! I remember when you guys just made the Dantes Inferno video, you've both come so far! 😊 Can't want for journey to the west part 3.
3:00 Ok either Blue is huge here or Red is tiny, is that how they're supposed to be?.....I'm analyzing the heights of satirical Chibis, what the heck am I doing?
2:20 - "No no, see, this song, it's not suppose to be sung perfectly, you're suppose to be a little, kinda, all over the place, like, that's part of it's charm." Like many philosophers, a little all over the place, with many contradictions and fallacies.
Having just finished a class where I had to read a bunch of different philosophers the animations are hilarious. Kant in particular is painfully accurate.
I think that picture of Rousseau is my favorite portrait of anyone ever. He just looks so sweet and fatherly in it. Something about the kind smile. Also, while we have Descartes to thank for Cartesian plots, he was a logician, and logic is considered philosophy. He and Francis Bacon also rooted the fundamental logic behind the scientific method in epistemology and rationalism, therefore, he’s a philosopher. Plus, back in his time, he would have been called a “natural philosopher.”
Wait, given the chaotic rhythm of the song and how it keeps going everywhere could Red & Blue's conversation at the end there be considered part of the song?
Interested to hear what madness they do for 2M subs, especially considering their count is 362 times higher now than it was just a couple short years ago.
"I've read the words of countless ancient grumpy dudes who thought too much!" Thats how I feel with pretty much all philosophy.... yet I still love it... fml

Friedrich Nietzsche: God is dead and we killed him./(God: quit telling everyone I’m dead!)/Sometimes I can still hear his voice.
Rene Descartes: No, but why does everybody call me a philosopher? I did so much math.
Confucius: Apparently, “stating the obvious” is now grounds for deification.
Laozi: Apparently “being the chillest dude” is now grounds for deification.
+Olivia M Thank You, you're doing god's work
+Olivia M Thank you!
The lyrics are so spot on. Well done Red.
I just love the how perfect this channel was from the beginning.
Congrats on 1.2 Million subs.
I'm so glad I subscribed to this channel
As a vocalist and a music theater nerd, I have to say you did an amazing job, Red!!!
*claps loudly*
It's amazing to think you had 5k subs when you made this and now seven years later it is standing the test of time and you have 2.15 million subs.
Awww
"Can't you use a song that you can, you know, sing?"
"Shut Up!"
-Couple Goals-
**Ahem**
_Friend Goals_
FireriderAX aaaaaaaw~! I really wished they were a couple tho! They're so cute! Let me edit my comment then
_That_ is something everyone should definitely stay out of. Personal life stuff is none of our business, forget about relationship stuff.
Dragon Power How did you put that line in?
Best platonic couple ever
They’re siblings i thought XD
This was the video that first brought me to your chanel. I was looking for the Monty Python Philosopher Song, but frankly, yours is better. I’m sure the algorithm would have suggested you to me by now even if I hadn’t come across this one, but I’m still glad a found you. Congratulations on 10 years, and keep it up!
Random person: What's your favourite song?
Me: *laughing nervously* It's complicated
Fun to come back to this. Happy 2 Million!
Pure longitudinal joy to perceive this excellently performed, accurately composed, and amazingly arranged lovely ditty
"Technically, I'm supposed to be doing my homework" I literally clicked out of my essay that is due at midnight to watch this 😂😂😂
This may be my #1 favorite channel.
Showed this to my philosophy professor. He thought it was hilarious. Love this song!
Good to rewatch anytime
I know some of the lyrics of 'model of a modern major general' and i kid you not, this made me remember more of the lyrics by trying to sing along side THIS version
I would buy a whole album from you, Red! Seriously!
Already memorized 1st and 3rd stanzas of "Major-General's Song"; now time to devote a month of my life to this song as well.
I've been playing this on repeat for the last half hour trying to memorize it. It's so difficult Red HOW did you do it??? Either way I am determined to get it eventually. Amazing work 💜
“HOLY MOLY THERE ARE FIVE THOUSAND OF YOU” oh how the time flies
Red, do your homework... >.< Or at least work on the Origin Stories that I sent you last semester! :P
Also, you should've made yourself Natsu-Flame up at the end
+Overly Sarcastic Productions Did you at least eat food?
+Overly Sarcastic Productions Ramen and stupid amount of frosting does not constitute as real food :P
+Sarah Hecht I have a feeling Red also forgot to take a shower.
This is the best set of commentd ever.
the is the BEST summary of philosophy I've ever come across, you are wonderful
Philosophy and Gilbert and Sullivan? I dig. Also, are you guys currently in college? If so, how do you find the time to make these videos?
Having no lives, probably
there are advantages to hiding yourself from society.
1: you dont have to deal with people
2: number one summed it up
Ella Martin :D
Ella Martin I like the way you think.
Ti My well, Red is asexual, which does certainly free up time.
it's amazing how far they came
5k special vs now when they're nearing 2 million
my goodness congratulations
You know it's a glorious moment when Blue's the one trolling Red
The moment I heard the opening notes, I knew I was on for a good time, may the model major general be with you.
HUGE SHOUT OUT TO YOU GUYS! You guys deserve so many more than 5000 subs! I remember when you guys just made the Dantes Inferno video, you've both come so far! 😊 Can't want for journey to the west part 3.
Outstanding! Thank you, Red!
3:00 Ok either Blue is huge here or Red is tiny, is that how they're supposed to be?.....I'm analyzing the heights of satirical Chibis, what the heck am I doing?
How have I missed this 💎 in the 4 years I’ve be a subscriber 😍😍😍😍
2:20 - "No no, see, this song, it's not suppose to be sung perfectly, you're suppose to be a little, kinda, all over the place, like, that's part of it's charm." Like many philosophers, a little all over the place, with many contradictions and fallacies.
Visiting this again at 1.45m subs is amazing.
3:10 "Hey Blue, want more of my amontillado?" --red (probably)
Having just finished a class where I had to read a bunch of different philosophers the animations are hilarious. Kant in particular is painfully accurate.
Description: HOLY MOLY THERE ARE FIVE THOUSAND OF YOU!
The Date: 15/9/19
Subscriber count: 1 Million
Over 1,5 million now!
I AM THE VERY MODEL OF A MODERN MAJOR-GENERAL!
this made me shed a manly tear...
Oh, dry the glistening tear (that dews that martial cheek)
5k? HOW ABOUT 62k!!!
How about 105k
Lizzy Coy we got 122K
Molly Butler how about 58526982688889988521235558864774112211004554000880085877412k
Mmmk.
Mikail van Dartel 238 ;)
Ancient grumpy dudes who thought too much is the best way of describing them
This is beauty.
And this was 5k subs? Damn. You've come a long way.
i started watching in 2015 and it’s so fun to go back and watch videos that i loved so much!
I'm so damn proud of this channel for growing so fast
As a former college student, I salute you, as you have reminded me of days gone being locked in class with WAY too many dudes who thought too much.
Interested to hear what madness they do for 2M subs, especially considering their count is 362 times higher now than it was just a couple short years ago.
Every now and then I come back to watch this.
"I've read the words of countless ancient grumpy dudes who thought too much!"
Thats how I feel with pretty much all philosophy.... yet I still love it... fml
This is excellent!
Why hasn't UA-cam recommended it to me before?
Any one else comeback to visit this after they reached a million?
Yep!
Yo!
youtube recommended rly said show the 5k special but only after they hit 1.5 MILLION
Thankfully you didn't even mention Freud
It's kind of inspiring to watch this video from three years ago when you were celebrating 5k subscribers and now have 929k. Go Red and Blue :D
2:43 I though history never repeats because starting position and...butterflys.
Why isn't this on UA-cam music??? It really deserves to be there.
For those of you who are curious, this is the Major General song from Gilbert & Sullivan’s 1879 operetta “The Pirates of Penzance”
It’s basically a Victorian rap song
I've read the words of countless ancient grumpy dudes who thought too much
"I've read the words of countless ancient grumpy dudes who thought too much"
Bruh that's *d e e p*
Simply superb!
