- The De Tomaso Pantera is a hybrid, or at least it is in the old sense of the word.
Nowadays, the term “hybrid” refers to a car that uses an internal combustion engine in conjunction with an electric motor. This hasn’t always been the case, though. During the 60s and early 70s, enthusiasts applied that label to sports cars that had European styling and American power. Machines such as the Sunbeam Tiger, Monteverdi 375S, and Shelby Cobra successfully blended the very best that those regions had to offer. Another hybrid that made waves during this period was the De Tomaso Pantera. The emerging Italian automaker teamed up with Ford with he aim of creating a relatively affordable exotic sports car. Instead of using a finicky, hand-built engine, the Pantera was powered by a mass-produced 5.8L Cleveland engine that made close to 300 horsepower. Styling, meanwhile, was handled by Ghia. More specifically, it was handled by an American working at Ghia. It entered the market just before the oil crisis wreaked havoc on the sports car world. While many of its contemporaries either faded away or changed for the worse, the Pantera found a way to endure.

Always loved the Pantera. The body shape of that and the Jalpa always struck a chord with me for some reason.
I now own 2 of these cars one in perfect showroom condition. The other has a 5 2 Voodoo swap and is a mix of new Mustang and Corvette parts underneath
These would be great for you to upload videos for. A voodoo swapped Pantera has long been a dream of mine.
Awesome videos. Keep them coming.
Such a fabulous machine with the Heart of a Ford ❤️ Always loved these.
Orgullo de ser argentino, como De Tomaso y Pagani que grandes diseñadores a dado mi pais .
What are you proud of. The cars are made in Italy by Italians, not argentines
Big fan! I already asked Bigcar but I would love to see a video on the Honda Prelude, I'm sure it would make a very interesting story! Glad to see your channel picking up steam!
A beauty... with an intriguing story. Thank you!
The shape of that car just screams "speed and power"
Long time fan of your videos. I think I've commented this before, but the Lexus GS would make for a great video, particularly the 2nd and 4th gen, but all are extremely interesting in their own right.
I agree! Or Honda Prelude!
Awesome video❤
I love your videos, amazing job!
I would love a video about the Cizeta Moroder V16T
A Pantera restomod with a voodoo would be sooooo fucking amazing!! Did someone in the comments say they have one?
OH HELL YEAH I’M HYPED 👏
As a suggestion: Peter Brock and the Daytona? As always, great informative and insightful video. Thank you!
DeTomaso baby!!
Please make a video about the LFA or Noble cars.
YEAAAAH!
Try throwing in some engine noises once in a while
Gandini is a genius
Gandini es un genio pero NO diseño el pantera , lo diseño Alejandro De Tomaso que era un ingeniero argentino y no italiano ,busca información y lo verás
@@felipealfredodeblasiramire7091 The designer was Tom Tjaarda from America. De Tomaso owned the company with a little help form his American wife.
How about one on the almost unknown Mitsubishi, Chrysler and or Plymouth 2.6liter Nissan Starion, Conquest Tsi twins. Until
The wedge and flared version came out no one knew about them, and the wedge model like 1987, 1989 are unique as shit and we’re virtually unknown back then. Everyone was in IROC world, or Fox Body world. You know what IROC stands for right? Probably not politically correct these days but screw it, Italian Ret-rd Out Crusin. Gold chain and track suit with white tank top
Wife beater on. Red or white Adidas superstar shoes. See, us Armenians were in our 1989 Trans Am GTA or Trans Am sport coupe (main color like blue or red with silver ground effects) same as GTA minus badges, white gold chain on, maybe a rat tail hair due (mullet), Nike Air Jordan or Air Force, BOSS sweatshirt and acid
Washed jeans. Ha ha ha anyone from 1990s knows what I mean.
Yanks tryna take credit for everything smh 🤦♂️😑
Hybrid... Toyota is now crying in the corner...
Looked cool but fell apart.
Almost as bad as Chevy Corvaire
