    The X1DII is faster, better and now has some upgrades that turn it into a fully matured camera vs the 1st Gen. I LOVED the first one and yes, still LOVE the new one. Same sensor as the original (50MP Sony Sensor) and thank goodness for that as it's one amazing sensor!
    This is my video with image samples from the Hasselblad X1DII.

    Thank you for the honest a pinion regard the Sony and Hasselblad, I am totally agree 👍🏻 I feel that almost every UA-camr is forgetting the total quality in a picture, if the eye is sharp and in focus, and there’s a lot of background blur. Well then it’s insanely good!! 🙈😆 Correct color, nice skin tones, beautiful fall of, contrast and so on is not important! Glad to see that you know what you are talking about, thanks for your reviews 👍🏻

    Beautiful. One thing this camera has that the Sony A7riii or Fuji GFX doesn’t have is the leaf shutter. I can’t begin to tell you how useful it is to be able to x-sync all the way up to 1/2000sec when using strobes outdoors. My go to cameras are the X1D and the RX1RII for outdoor photography for this very reason. Wonderful review!

    In the menu options of the X1D you can choose between, real light conditions or simulated shooting light conditions you have to try both options and choose the best, but no mirrorless camera can simulate flashlight in the viewfinder as it is with an optical finder.
    You can also push the luminosity, of the finder to the maximum, when light conditions are bad.
    A usefull solution is to work with the flash pilot light to see face expressions. ( Profoto A1 speedlight with pilot works great on X1D)

    I was ready to get the X1d2 until I let the lens situation sink in... Overpriced and possibly less reliable? The 45mm just went up $300 for no apparent reason. A pancake would seal the deal for me, but so far the lens selection just isnt getting my interest for the price/performance compared to Fuji. I'm not a Gucci guy either...

    I'm thinking of upgrading my X1D mark I, but only if it has faster readout time when in electronic shutter mode. I can't find any specs on that. Have you tested this or have you got any information on this?
    It's important for me because I use some adapted vintage lenses like a Canon FD 85mm f1.2. These lenses are hard to use without a tripod as any movement makes the image unusable. But the new processor could change that. If it haven't changed the readout time I might want to up/downgrade (however you see it) to a Fujifilm GFX50R as this has a traditional shutter that work with any kind of lens.
    Hope you can answer this question as I would prefer to stay with Hasselblad. I have had Hasselblads since I was in my teens and now I'm 63, and it's a camera that inspires me to go shoot some more images due to its awesome design and UI.
    I love your channel and your reviews :-)

      I've owned both. GFX50S and X1D. Sold the GFX and kept the X1D. SOOC Image quality is very close, with edge going to X1D (my opinion of course). But the deciding factor really comes down to kit size (Body + Lenses). The X1D is simply a lighter and more compact system, which I why I kept it. Also, The X1D user experience and ergo set the bar. It's a joy to use, for landscapes at least.

    I considering going into medium format (Hasselblad, Fuji or even Film) because i need better image quality, tonal gradiation, color rendition etc. What i don't understand is why would a medium format sensor be better if the pixel size is not bigger. For example my a7iii has bigger pixels than this X1D ii. Is it only because of color depht and color rendition (manufacture based), or are there some other points (exept the lenses)?

    • @Pinsel486
      @Pinsel486 3 роки тому +1

      Pixel sizes is not everything, your images will be downsampled for almost any purpose. In most cases you wont look at your photos with their real resolution. So pixels will be „combined“ . So smaller pixels might have a similar effect as big pixels in the end in terms of noise. And as far as i know noise and dynamic range are to be seen in conjunction. What matters tho is sensor size because every point in your image will be made from more light input compared to a smaller sensor. But then on the contrary FF has more affordable and faster lenses so in the end you might be gaining more light on FF than with medium format, because with medium format lenses are more limited. Thats how i understand it. at dpreview is a good article about this.

    Do you have to use special trigger in order to sync at 1/2000 for flash photography? Thank you

    • @chadkawasaki1710
      @chadkawasaki1710 5 років тому +1

      Charles Kusi it’s not necessarily a special trigger per say but the flash duration of the strobes that’s more important. Most speedlights and strobes can sync up to 1/2000 under 1/4 - 1/8 power with leaf shutters. When using fast sync speeds you are able to use a very large aperture so usually 1/8 power is still more than enough to overcome the outdoor sun. Getting a flash or strobe with faster t.1 speeds will allow for the use of higher power settings. I have used both the Pocket Wizard and Godox Trigger systems and have yet to have any issues with syncing at 1/2000sec with both.

    Medium format has more dynamic range? How? It's just a bigger sensor size right, so it captures more light but this does not equal more dynamic range per se? A smartphone with HDR setting captures quite a lot of dynamic range for instance.

      @camaxide 5 років тому +1

      @@Funktrainer 50MP full frame vs 50MP medium format, the medium format has larger 'pixels' and thus capture more light.. it's physics. it's why a 61MP full frame has a worse low light performance than a say 24MP full frame camera of the same tech. each pixel gets smaller and thus captures less light..

    • @Funktrainer
      @Funktrainer 5 років тому +1

      camaxide they don‘t capture more light. Bigger pixels have just better signal to noise ratio. If they would capture more light you would have to close the aperture more or shorten the shutter speed on a sensor with less megapixels to get the same exposure. Dead wrong. A pixel can‘t capture more than what is available.

      Silvestro Crino, Have you actually used both of them? If you have, you wouldn’t ask this question. The Mark II is less buggy but the AF is still really sloooow. And don’t forget about the eco-system. Fujinon lenses are a lot cheaper, sharper, better bokeh, and are more to choose from. The choice is a no-brainer.

    • @crinosil

      PhotoViking ... I’ve actually used all three... the GFX lenses are cheaper....that is about it... with the possible exception of the 110mm f2...which is a great lens....one on one I’d say the Hassy lenses are sharper and are built better... as to AF ...I have to laugh ...all the 50mpix bodies use contrast detect AF... and so they are ALL slow and hunt around in poor light or low contrast situations.... firmware improve the original X1D.... I expect with additional detection points and a faster processor the mark 2 will be better still....but neither the Fuji’s nor Hassy will ever be anything but slow auto focusing....in many situations.... in bright light they will be indistinguishable....

      @@evaeriksson9950 ... by the last firmware update, my X1D had become pretty nice to use...all the bugs squashed and just start it up and shoot...fantastic IQ and i agree on the colors.... but it was definitely no speed demon...operating performance was sluggish especially startup... still for me it was great for travel, architecture, landscape and portraits... all in a nice relatively portable, tough and yes...pretty package. I sold my 4116 (black model) when the rumors of the Mark 2 being registered came out... ordered the new model from B&H and hope to get it soon.... I will be ecstatic if IQ stays the same. Its quite alright (even exciting) that all that changes is the operating performance, EVF, LCD, Card Slots, USB-C (charging) and better processor.... to me this is a nice evolutionary upgrade... and like your Fuji, Hassy has proven very skilled at, and dedicated to, fixing, improving and adding functionality through firmware updates...but now on a camera with better underlying electronics... Kaizen Viking style!

      a 24Mpix, manual focus only, Leica M10 is about $7K ...$500 more if you want an EVF.... This camera is easier to use, just as well built, much more weather/dust resistant, has arguably the same kind of historic pedigree, and most importantly has much, much, much better Image Quality... its a deal in comparison to the M10... or even the SL...

      @@Guairenito Sorry the HSS mode you are referring to has nothing to do with the quality of the pictures. My own studio has both - I always take the Hass when its my shout. We specialise in Fashion and portraits and for that the Hass wins every freaking time - and we do sue Elinchrom ELB 1200's on location. The issue with other cameras - including the GFX50R is that half of the time it does not work. The flash drags, or sometimes the sync is off - but regardless of that the colour rendition of a leaf shutter lens is just better - it always has been and always will be - the only terrible thing of the Hass is the electronic shutter - its useless - many people buy adaptors for 3rd party lenses and find out the hard way -Fuji is better for this - we have some of my old Contax 645 lenses and it handles them well. No AF though - but for portraits, people and architecture the Hass is the king - but of course that is just my opinion - also should say I used to lecture for Fuji and was a Fuji ambassador in the UK - but still better is better - have a super day

    It's an extremely overpriced so-so camera with a good sensor. The same Leica feeling for this everyday kind of photography you can get from a Fuji XT-3 or even an x-100f.

      Comparing Fuji to Leica is like comparing a Honda to a Lamborghini. The GFX 50s is ok but not as good. The Hasselblad has a better sensor, EVF, LCD, leaf shutter is a massive advantage, better ISO range, much higher build quality etc...Plus, the XCD lenses are a TON better than any GF lens.

      @@michaelbell75 As a matter of fact I do agree with you. A lambo is better than a Honda. But no one drives a Lambo to work or to the supermarket, unless one wants to show off.

      Falando de Amenidades It’s built for rich photographer, but we can see that Hasselblad is trying to lower its body price. Maybe they will become more affordable in the future, because DJI now controls the company.

    Keep polishing the camera body and forget you just paid all that cash on a slow camera limited to F2.2, and less lens choices than a cannibal at a vegan lunch.
    Plus that big brand name limits where you can travel, you might as well have a big sign on your back that says "MUG ME".
