It's so funny coming back to these videos (excellent first reactions btw--this is my favorite channel for that) and seeing how EVERYTHING at the table was already set leading up to Drake's misstep with Family Matters. I’ve been watching a lot of reactions since the song came out and one thing I just thought of now is this song is like when you say a prayer before going out to battle. Like this is his battle cry before he goes psycho on Drake.
This type of rapping is what made me a fan of Kendrick as well. You were so right about this one. Drake should have bowed out or not gotten personal like Kendrick warned him. What's crazy is, I've seen people say Kendrick baited Drake _into_ getting personal because he told him to NOT get personal multiple times. Removing all accountability from Drake, as if he isn't a grown a** man. This battle showed me that some of the people who have been in hip-hop for a while: Gillie, Cam, Ma$e, Funk Master Flex, etc. weren't gatekeeping like they should have been doing, because they couldn't see past the money they were making/could make off of "the Drakes of the industry" who are backed by big money record labels. Gillie and Flex stated in interviews that ghostwriting didn't matter and that they saw Drake winning. I saw photos of Cam and Ma$e sporting their OVO jackets prior to the beef and they were also steadily behind Drake. They were all *extremely* compromised.

It's so funny coming back to these videos (excellent first reactions btw--this is my favorite channel for that) and seeing how EVERYTHING at the table was already set leading up to Drake's misstep with Family Matters. The effect is to make not only Kendrick, but even those paying close attention like yourself, seem prophetic. And like your breakdown of the song, the set up was two-fold: I know what you've got going on because people from your side are colluding; but also, I know who you are spiritually, so it's easy to see how this is going to go down in the eyes of others ("Hey Drake, they're not slow"). What's crazy is, I've seen people say Kendrick baited Drake _into_ getting personal because he told him to NOT get personal multiple times. Removing all accountability from Drake, as if he isn't a grown a** man.
This battle showed me that some of the people who have been in hip-hop for a while: Gillie, Cam, Ma$e, Funk Master Flex, etc. weren't gatekeeping like they should have been doing, because they couldn't see past the money they were making/could make off of "the Drakes of the industry" who are backed by big money record labels.
Gillie and Flex stated in interviews that ghostwriting didn't matter and that they saw Drake winning. I saw photos of Cam and Ma$e sporting their OVO jackets prior to the beef and they were also steadily behind Drake. They were all *extremely* compromised.

Damn, listening to this song after rumors came out about Drake's connection to that dutch pdf file weirdo, Kendrick says- " conspiracies about cash ? Dawg, thats not even the leak...... "I just need you to think " am i reaching? Later on he says - " your reality cant hide behind wi-fi." The person leaked Drake's belongings had a laptop claiming its Drake's. I'm convinced Kendrick saw something that made him go from disliking drake to downright despising him.
