I understand this is separate game. And I absolutely love it. But I hope factorio 2.0 will have some capabilities of 'cosmoteer like' ships: complex weapons, accelerators, frame structures etc. And maybe cosmoteer will/can expand into more complicated resource tree further, making some ultimate components even more expensive and require factory scaling to produce them. Gosh, I love sandbox games )
I hope for my well being they make i hate complex factories otherwise im gonna get even more addicted to this game x). I didnt touch factorio for this reason.
Thats really cool how you made a dove tail to connect the ships. Just like in wood working class. I've been experimenting with this very concept in my play through. First it started a a need for train cars to hold my extra materials then it turned into I bet i could give my hauler ship jaws that have tractor beams to push ships away from my main ship. My locking method is similar to yours but more 👉👌 and the male end of the connectors are just a bit longer and thicker 🤏. But I also have more jiggle throughout my mega ship. You sir have a solid connection with very little wiggle room using your method. But it does sound hard to dock.
Hi thank you so much for your feedback, actually I started kinda like you, before I found this method :D And yes: it can be quite hard to dock your ships together, but as long as your ships are symetric, you can automize it very efficently! Dont worry, I know it sounds complicated now, but I will showcase this in the 3rd part of my series (its going online thursday) ;) Cheers!
My favorite form of this is the nesting doll. You have one pure thruster ship and two semi circle ships that together with the thruster ship free floating inside of it, like a bird in a cage. Add a few small thrusters to make the outer ring constantly spin while the inner core pushes against the ring to move, like a hamster pushing a ball around. Put railguns evenly distributed along the entire outer perimeter of the ring. And you get a Gatling gun as the ring spins, with every shot rapid firing a single point. Best ship I’ve ever made.

A problem I thought of with mega ships is that when you ftl you need to reassemble the ship
