If retailers and merchandisers lose money on credit card transactions by having to pay a fee to the credit card company, and if credit cards are as prevalent as cash (perhaps even more so than), then why don't retailers and merchandisers mark up all their prices to cover the credit card fees? By the way, credit cards are the most ingenious business concept since stock. Think about it. The credit card company collects fee revenues from the stores where their card holders use their cards while collecting interest on the card holder's balance. Talk about having your cake and eating it too!
