Man, I can’t get over how good Derrick White’s defense was. Every time he’s on the lesser end of these plays, it’s always “well you literally could not have expected a human to do anything more than he just did there” … which makes Curry night all the more legendary.
This Finals felt very fair reffed, fair played, and fairly executed. There’s always some flops, missed calls (that Tatum no-foul on the Curry 30 footer was disgusting), and all that. But looking back on the series, they let them play, I think we all like that, blatant flops weren’t rewarded, they let them battle it out, if a rim protector was mostly vertical you had to finish your layups (no bailout fouls), and it felt like the two teams also had immense respect for each other, not much unsportsmanlike conduct. I really enjoyed it, and as a Bron Stan, it was nice to take a year off of playoff stress (no it wasn’t).
Which proves he is a true team player. He also was willing to come off the bench for part of the regular season this year. A lot of big egos in the NBA trying to protect images would not be willing to do that
