    How confident you are in your views. seeing such a woman for the first time. I understood the focus & then recompose better than other's explanation. Thank you very much madam.

    Using back button focus and then you can use continous focus mode and burst mode. Great for sports !

    You are so right, I am making that change. I did put myself out there, and people were taking advantage of me due to my weight. I am now working on losing weight, because people do thank since your overweight they can mistreat you. That is how society is, I have always felt less than with the extra weight. You are so right though thanks for sharing. I thought the way your friend recomposed was funny, I did the same thing at first !

    Best explanation of focus recompose which I just tried and it worked, however I'm a Nikon shooter. I am use to just moving my focus points around thus I am more comfortable doing that. Always good to do another way to do something and continue to learn and grow. Tried back button I have a friend who loves it for sports but I don't care for it. To each his own. Thanks

    2 years ago I wondered what people were going on about...? Now I do this on without thinking and probably on 99% of photos! Even when I should using continuous focus lol...

    What is the advantage of having more focus points?
    According to you how many focus points are enough for doing still or food photography?

    Can you focus and recompose while using an aperture of f2.9 or 3.6? What is lowest f stop number yous would use when focus and recomposing ?

    Focus and recompose is a common technique but especially in portaits or candids with shallow depth of field can lead to eyes that are not in focus. Check out this thread about why you may want to avoid focus and recompose. www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1553129/0?nc=1#14529189

    AF-C back button and never go back!

  • @adamplays6830

    Hi Heather, did you try to use AF-C with 3D tracking for recomposing? I am wondering if this is a "safer" solution because when we focus on a object and even if we pan the camera unintentionally, AF should follow the object and fix the focus if needed. So far I used AF-S and recomposed like you explained.

      @HeatherLahtinen  3 роки тому

      I haven't tried that Adam because it scares me. 😂 In theory, I guess the 3D tracking should keep focus on the subject, but I don't think we could rely on that.

    Or you could compose your shot, press the shutter half way while the eye of the already selected face highlights for a split second as you take your shot with the a7r3.

    Quick question, I'm a beginner and I'm wondering where you focus before you focus and recompose? I was told the eye closest to the camera, but another photographer said the nose. What?!

    • @HeatherLahtinen
      @HeatherLahtinen  6 років тому

      Always the eyes! And yes, I focus on the one closest to the camera.

    can you recompose on a vertical plane?

  • @keelaboosa

    Why is the video mirrored? I'm curious about this because I've seen it in other videos as well. Is it a compositional thing?

    • @HeatherLahtinen
      @HeatherLahtinen  7 років тому +1

      I recorded this with the front facing camera on my iPhone during a live FB video. Mirroring is the only option.

    What’s the difference between pan and pivot???

    • @HeatherLahtinen
      @HeatherLahtinen  5 років тому

      Panning is moving across an axis. Pivoting is remaining stationary on the axis, but turning one way or the other.

    Ooo, you have got special left side hold camera, or no, you just sitting in front mirror and looking on your self. By the way, thank you for this video.
