NAL Upgrade Work Train

- As part of the North Auckland Line upgrade project, covering Swanson to Whangarei, a number of work trains have been operating over weekends from Westfield to a number of locations. Here, we see one such train, which spent the weekend offloading sleepers before returning to Westfield empty. DFB 7077 and DFB 7049 provided the power for this weekend's train, with only DFB 7077 in power on the trip home.
As a bonus, DL 9072 and DCP 4790 are seen descending into Ellerslie with the port shunt, running via Newmarket instead of the usual route via Panmure due to track work on the North Island Main Trunk.
Great collection of shots
Notice that 7077 has a very high pitch horn, lol
@@n.f.railphotography7185 I got 7077 on Train 221 on friday, it's in my latest video
So glad they are fixing that line up. Means freight trains will continue to go out west, as thats where i live
Thanks to winston Peter's tbh in the rail side of things... i hope the triangle gets fixed too so that can run steam locos up and down and use the triangle to turn around
Just how bad that line has got is evidenced by the shake, rattle and roll over the crossing at 00:48.
Haha great seeing you yesterday
On the bridge
Yes it was great seeing you Alex
Nice video. Wonder why they keep using a DC and a DL for the port shunts. Also did you film the driver training run with DFB 7199 and DC 4260?
Nathan Fern the dl is to help with the grades round parnell and Ellerslie if you come up to auckland we could try film it this weekend as 4467 is back
@@nzr.explorer4660 That sounds great
