...I jst ordered and received a basswood strat body ...the yellow one he uses now ...warmoth rosewood neck....imma try and trick it out Jeff Beck style ...will it make me play like JB ?...no...but it'll make me feel cooler ....cheers
I always wondered what had happened to that actual "Seafoam" green Strat rather than the Surf Green one he ended up using later. I also think it's great that he uses a basswood body (like the MIJ reissues) and actually can't stand the Fender Custom Shop guitars that were made for him. Interesting.
I think the 1st run Jeff Beck signatures might be worth a few quid in 40 years, and the first run SRV signatures, as they both had really fat necks, then they were changed to a thinner neck, not sure why the SRV was changed, but SRV did get to play it before he passed, so maybe he did not like it. I like early 60s necks, they are not as fat as 50s strat necks, and not as thin as modern starts, just right, hate really thin necks, 60-62 strat necks varied a lot, all good though
A BASSWOOD BODY ... But, there is a reinforcement for the bridge pins and for the springs tree ( like wood plugs made of dense wood ) ... no doubt about that !!! Basswood is way too soft to handle the way Jeff Beck "mangles" his tremolo. ;-))
I don't understand all the big deal about these Chinese fakes. I never really liked Les Pauls, I played quite a lot of them, and always the same feel : too heavy, just like carrying a dead horse with a strap over the shoulder. There is a huge amount of real fine guitars made in Southern Asia and made of real fine tonewoods. Why buying the worst fake ? Just to have "Gibson" written on the headstock and wind up with a cheap instrument that you'll hate sooner than later ! Now, that's really stupid.
I always romanticized Gibsons and Fenders... until I finally PLAYED them. I couldn't understand why I hated BOTH brands. Then I tried Ibanezes and other guitars and love them a LOT more.
Man, listening to a guy talk about Jeff's guitars without seeing them is more boring than I thought it would be. Hope JB does a Premier Guitars Rig Rundown someday.
He toured with carlos from july to October 1995, stevie died august 27 1990. Jeff and stevie toured together from Oct to Dec 1989, jeffs guitar shop tour started sometime in 1989 (probably on the third leg of the in step tour in oct 89 with srv) and went into 1990.

11K pups! No wonder his bridge pickup has so much bottomend!
I've got an MIJ Strat,1989. It's nice.

Id love to hear more about that les paul he used with Jimmy Page during their Yardbirds time. It has a black pickguard.
He used a fender esquire mainly with the Yardbirds. A really great guitar with only one pickup.
Ahhhh..."Recording The Beatles" very rare and $$$$ book and "Beatles Gear"...great books! Cool documentary.
"I have got 7 or 8 Custom shop copies of that guitar and he hates all of them!" Note the pickups are Suhr... NOT Fender.

If it was early 90s, it must've been the Santana tour because SRV died in 1989

@@knightfall9394 I stand corrected.
