Sandy, the only thing she is missing is a big, red maple leaf!! That is a really good job for a deep woods paint job. But you have to watch out. Get her too pretty and she'll get the big head and refuse to work when it's cold. 😊
The excavator got a little TLC. Nice work with skill holding that spray bottle. Noticed a squirrel ran and hid from the man holding the spray can. Wise move. Nice work of art equal to many boxcars and works of art in well travelled places. The excavator looks much younger and was quite entertaining as the years dropped off. Thanks and great video.
Looking good Sandy. Old equipment is no reason to have it looking run down. I find that when my equipment is well maintained - including paint, I treat it differently and feel differently - all in a good way.
SANDY... I'm proud of you, buddy. Too many people in this world would say... "It's old. When it quits running I'll drop it in the ravine and that'll be the end of it." You are so much like me, it scares me. People walk out in my shop and gasp. "I've never seen such an old metal lathe. Does it still run?" Well, the fact is, it was given to me because it DIDN'T run any more. Brought it home, took it apart, rebuilt it, and now... 25 years since I got it, it still turns metal as good as a new one. I told you about rebuilding the motor on my table saw. Could have bought a new motor for $xxx.xx. Instead, I took it apart, found the old bushing that was worn beyond tolerance, got some bronze bushing material and after a few hours of machining (that I enjoyed doing), the motor works like new - actually better than new. Don't paint the blade or bucket, it'll wear the paint off the first time you use it. Finally, your efforts say one more thing... you take care of your equipment. If we were neighbors, you can be assured that you could borrow anything of mine. WHY? Because I know you would take care of it, and return it when finished with it in the same condition you received it. Only comment, I used to use Rustoleum primer and paint on race car frames when I restored them. I'd sandblast them to bare metal so I could inspect all the welds, then primer and paint. I've not seen the brand of paint you used - maybe its a Canadian brand not sold in the US, but I'm sure it's good. Take care, and we'll see you on the next one...............
I appreciate the words Carl! I sure do like the old iron. Except when it's sitting out in the back 40 rusting away haha. I do take extra good care of other people's stuff. My stuff I get carried away some times but not others. The Tremclad is a Canadian brand if I"m not mistaken. They do have Rustoleum here if I"m not mistaken but I think the brand they sell in the stores is Tremclad made by Rustoleum. Have a great rest of your week Carl!
I absolutely love how you handle the keyboard warriors that are probably living in their mama's basement by going over what you maybe shoulda or coulda done to make the job perfect. I just subscribed to your channel and love it.
Just a thought, you probably could of bought 2 quarts of paint (one primer and one top coat) plus a cheapo sprayer for your compressor for what you paid for those cans of spray paint. All in all you did a great job, it looks nice.
Dood, a cheap HVLP sprayer can deliver a better paint job than the best rattle can, and at a much cheaper cost. I even stopped using my old cup gun once I bought an HVLP gun because it's better. For all of my outdoor stuff I use Rustoleum paint because I don't want to have to paint it again in a couple of years.
The little mini excavator got a facelift and looks better and will be protected better from the elements. That's the main thing is to keep it to where you can continue to use it with no problems. Great video Sandy.
Yeah I would have gotten too elaborate either. I would have pressure washed it first and instead of rattle cans I would have gone to Princess Auto and bought a cheap spray gun. Then used canned paint and a thinner. It would have been cheaper but a sprayer is easier to use than a spray bomb. Looks 100% better anyway Sandy. Kind of a Terex theme.
Looking at my '94 Case 1840 skid steer this season I new it was getting a paint job this winter. Great inspiration with this video. Take care of the good stuff and it lasts to do what we need it to. ❤
Good afternoon Sandy hope you are doing well the little tracko look better it will slow the rust to form so fast it will mske last a lot longer but it won't stay clean long but that is the beauty of it have a great day
MM77 Approved 👍🏼👍🏼……………………………………………………..Ahhhhh…………….the old rattle can paint job, been there, done that. At a distance and when working, it looks good! BTW, it’s good to see your dad.
Nice upgrade to your excavator, glad your Dad could lend a hand. Fun video to watch, another well done video. Corn and beans harvest is about to commence down here in Iowa, a busy time. Take care Sandy, keep those videos coming.
Good afternoon, Sandy! Fine painting job there bud. There is an old saying, "if it don't go, chrome it", in your case, paint it. I know your machine goes and does a great job, but I couldn't resist the old moniker, lmao! Greetings from Peterborough.
Damn! That turned out great! A little tip for protecting areas you don’t want overspray use tin foil. Will work great when you get to some areas that don’t work well with tape. Great job!
Hi Sandy. It looks just fine. I was going to say that you did a good job of hiding the number of bottles that you used until the cat found its way out of the bag. The rust has been stopped for what there was, and I don't know of any shows for mini excavators. If it stays outside come winter, it will blend in just fine. Have good days!
Looks really nice and clean. I do see a bit of a problem for you however. You will only be able to use it half of the year. The other half it will be lost in the snow... Really enjoy your videos. Be safe. Till next time...
Hello Sandy. The paint job looks great. Lifting the ROPS with the Wallenstien was clever. I loved the music playing while you painted. I was waiting for you to break into a jig. Who was playing and what was the tune?
Not sure I'd bother with painting either the bucket or the front of the blade - seem like places where the paint would be worn off the first time they're used much. When it comes to things that run through the dirt or otherwise have soil moving across the surface I just leave bare metal once the factory paint has been worn off --- unless it's not going to be used for quite a while (i.e. years). As fast as the clay/loam I have in my area will abrade away surface finishes (and rust) it seems using the equipment is an easier rust removal/preventative measure than adding a surface coating. For example, the single-bottom moldboard plow I use for my garden gets a near mirror-like polish by the time I'm done with it in the garden (usually pretty shiny after the first 100ft pass actually).
White is an unusual choice for a machine that gonna get it share of dirty. Any particular reason for choosing white? Sure will help with the winters you get. 😊😊😊
Hey Sandy. Your excavator is looking good. The new coat of pain will stop the rust. But how will you find it in the snow? Lol. Just a thought you might want to swing by Harbor Freight tool and pick up a cheap auto paint gun. It would save you some money given the cost of those spray cans. Thanks for the new video.
it's a new game I"m creating for myself, find the missing equipment haha . It used to be find the missing tool but now I"ve upped my game to heavy equipment
Hi Sandy, Paint job looks great, just don't loose it when it snows LOL I liked the music (Scottish?) playing while you did the work. I'm with you I hate to paint also, I've thought about getting a pump type spray machine I liked those better than Brush and Roller when I absolutely have to paint. You did a good job, Mini EX sounds like it was happy too! John Toccoa GA
I'll venture somebody's index finger is cramping up pretty good right now! Looks much better, should probably have painted the roof uprights black so you can find the mini-x come winter time!
Fine if it makes ya smile. I would of not done a thing as not selling and its only visitor would of been me. I am very lazy as its just what I sound like
It’s not your machine until you spray paint her name on it. Name options: squirt, Karen, Captain Hook, Or maybe you can ask your views for name ideas. Something to think about. 🤷♂️
Nice job Sandy... Now you need some stickers /decals for it.. Ive still got my vinyl plotter and most all the colours...
Absolutely!
Notice the price of spray paint has gone from $8 in 2019 to $14.49 today. Rona has been the best price here on Vancouver island.
I know what ya mean there. I nearly choked when I saw that increase
Turned out super. Nice to see a young man who appreciates what he has and taking care of it! Take care of your equipment, and it wont let you down! 👍
Thanks Payne!

Turned out nice! Good work.
It would look great if the name on the rear of the machine was painted black. Nice job!
That would look pretty clean!
Derek says dont leave it out in winter…. You wont find it!! 😊 ❤
hahah isn't that the truth!
Looks good, and the white will show any leaks you get easier.
I didn't think of that but you're right there Wallace

Spruced the old rascal up. Makes it look clean again. Should make it run better don't you think.
I'm hoping that it'll keep running good now that I"Ve showed it some attention haha
Nice paint job Sandy, great Video.
Thanks TJ

Was going to likely put it a bit out a budget for me as things are quite expensive where I live
HorribleFright is yer friend, may be like a PrincessAuto up there...
Did you ever find out what the lower lever did or does on that machine?
I believe it’s to switch controls between the two standard controls types
A fella better remember where he parked it in the snowstorm..🤣🤣
Might need a new beacon on the lid..🚨
Looks great Sandy..👍👍
Thanks very much!
Lookin good ! Friend of mine gave me a tip for masking hydraulic hoses he uses aluminum foil lol.
Take care , looks great
Casper, the friendly excavator! Well done! 👏👏👏
New nickname for it haha
The little mini excavator got a facelift and looks better and will be protected better from the elements. That's the main thing is to keep it to where you can continue to use it with no problems. Great video Sandy.
For sure Jeff. Keeping it out of the elements to keep it going strong

Yeah, I love using a spray painting gun...the paint is cheap and you can put down multiple coats without breaking the bank.
Thanks for coming along for the video
Nice Exca Sandy.... looking good. Keep the project comming. Regard from Denmark....
Thank you for coming along for the spruce up
Thanks Sandy.
Take some Black and re-paint the Name on the Back. and some red Maple Leaves on the sides.
Some yellow on the diagonals at the Corners.
Would spruce it up some for sure Mike!

looks very good Sandy
Thanks Rodney
Nice job for being a used daily piece of equipment !!!!!! Couple of stickers and it will look awesome !!!!! Very nice work mate !!!!!
Thanks David. Sure cleaned up nice
Prepping for paint looked like a bit of a chore. End product seems to make it all worthwhile. 👍👍
Was a chore for sure. The painting I don’t mind as much but the prep was a pain haha

I was watching a video recently on some large scale harvesting. Pretty neat to see!
White makes sense. You being from The Great White North and all. 👍
When I’m getting to comfortable with warm weather I’ll just look over at the mini to remind me of the snow that’s to comes haha
looks nice, gonna look mean in the snow. but if it were me i would have to recreate those sick vintage decals at 1:43
For sure. I like those decals as well

Good colour for to put it in a show case! Why white?
I like the look of other machines painted white

Hello Sandy. The paint job looks great. Lifting the ROPS with the Wallenstien was clever.
I loved the music playing while you painted. I was waiting for you to break into a jig. Who was playing and what was the tune?
Hey there Jimmer. I can’t quite remember who the tune was by. Was a catchy song while I was editing so figured I better try it out
good video and job looks good paint has really went up no $1 cans any more. i hope you don't lose it in the snow. take care, be safe and well.
Thanks for all your support John
Good Job Sandy, on getting ur Mini Excavator painted. looks good. I didn't see u paint the very top of the roll cage!
Hey there Billy. Thanks very much. I climbed up on a ladder and got that done. Was actually in great shape compared to rest of machine

Careful you remember where it’s parked in the winter! Big change.
I'm going go just never get out of it to ensure I don't lose it
Make sure you put undercover before it snows or you might have to wait for spring to find it, lol. Good vid. Thanks
hahha that's for sure
Looks excellent sandy and the video was great 👍 ❤😊😮
Glad you enjoyed it Todd

Well, gee... I guess it's going to be a white😁 good job. I would have picked a different color .... 😂😂 not really. Looks all cleaned up .👍
Thanks Del! Came right along well I think
You should have painted it the color of your dirt. 😁 Paint does change the look. Nice job. 😊
hahah I like that!
Best thing looks good you’re happy, that is most important overall good job, got a thumbs up
Now you'll never find it in the snow!! haha

Looking fresh and clean! Just to get dirty again. Haha! I hear ya on the no time for that kind of stuff! 😂 Good work Sandy. 👍🇨🇦✌️
hahah will be clean for another 5 minutes then back to the old dusty bowl

It would be if I had the patience to do that colour scheme
My dad use to say no body will know the difference at 55 mph so who cares.paint is alot of work.
Hahaha I agree there!
You know? once the snow comes, you won't be able to find it. CTC must have had a sale on Tremclad white!
I sure wish they had a sale. $14 CDN + tax per can sure isn't fun at the checkout
Next on sawing with sandy I didn't expect it to snow this early in mid western ontario canada and we will find the excavator sometime in 2024
Hahaha itlll be gone if I leave it out there too long

@@MadHatter764 yup, they're $7.99 at the Princess!
Surprised you didn't go orange to match the rest of your fleet. :-)
White and black was calling my name
You should have blue taped all the hoses. 😊 Or yellow taped. 😏
I'm not sure I would've been as eager to paint it in that case haha
the bucket just give it coating of oil or Johnson wood wax if leaving outside for winter
not 💯 nessary but keep from rusting to much
Good idea! Thank you
How is that index finger feeling today? LOL great vid Sandy, Cheers!
Haha I’m feeling it for sure
