I remember people were saying how Seiko lost an opportunity when shinzo Abe, prime minister of Japan, wore an omega constellation during a promo of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic games at the end of the Rio games. Seiko didn't lose an opportunity. He was required to wear it because Omega is the official timekeeper of the Olympic games. He was not allowed to wear his Seiko watches. Kinda off topic but this video brought up that topic.
By what right does the Swatch Group give orders to the Japanese prime minister, who is supposed to represent the people and ancient nation of Japan ??? Good God.
@@aahchoo1 I don't blame Swatch...I would do it too. At least he wore my favorite Omega. It makes sense. Omega paid a ton of money to be the official timekeeper of the Olympics. Imagine if Nike paid the producers of Back to the Future to have their product featured and then as a promo for the sequel Marty McFly ditched his Air Mags and worst Boost...it wouldn't make sense. It's just marketing. Shinzo owns several Omega watches on his own anyways. Though I think he much prefers Seiko since he owns a ton of models and wears them the most frequently.
Thank you, thank you. THANK YOU for not doing what everyone else who does a video concerning US Presidents always seem to do... no snide jabs or any indication whatsoever of political lean. Well done!
Agree- it makes the video more professional. Well done on all the research too- I never knew Trump bought Reagan's watch. It's a real piece of history now. If it ever gets sold or comes up for auction again, it will be pretty much the sky's the limit!

A great and informative video! How about a look at the watches of explorers? People such as Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay, Jacques Cousteau, Niel Armstrong and Ranulph Fiennes?
Hi Teddy, I like how you have zoomed in so we can see the wall decorations better. As a side point, in the picture where the world leaders are seated, the British PM shown is Clement Atlee, not Winston Churchill.
I think the most famous watch that Obama wore was the JG6500 Commemorative Edition - Jorg Gray, given to him by the Secret Service. He was always see wearing it and at the end of his presidency, he toured the Shinola Watch Factory to promote American made products and started wearing one.
Nice video teddy! Maybe do a video on watches worn by a certain country's military. For example, what did the french air force, navy and army wear in period....?
How about a video, or series of videos, on iconic calibers? You could go far back and describe some older, fundamental ones and then work your way through the decades to more modern ones. Another related idea might be to spend time on one movement and really explain how it works in detail and why it’s special.
This is awesome, I’m glad I found this channel... president Obama was also given a watch as a gift, it was a jorg gray given by the secret service? Is that just what is given to a newly elected president?

Lala, even back then, $7000 to the crowd who participates in those kind of auctions, was chump change. With Reagan's death and his positive legacy plus the fact that it was owned by Trump too, that watch is now priceless.
I always thought that President Ronald Regan had a Corum $20 gold piece watch with a black croc band. Maybe it was the salesman that told me when I was buying mine. It sealed the deal for me.
I LOVED my Ironman! Left it on my frikkin roof while changing in the woods for a LOOONG drive home after 8 hours of mountain biking... I’d be curious to see a video about the origins of the Mickey Mouse watch. And which ones are valuable by whom, etc. were they all junk or were any decent watches.
I was in New York in 2005, less than a year after Reagan died, the watch was in the display case in Trump Towers along with a photo of Trump with Ronald and Nancy and a small flag to commemorate his passing. Although this was located right near the gents toilet which didn't seem the most respectful location.
If you haven't already can you run a video (or few) on pocket watches, the best to buy, the most affordable high quality, maybe even some famous owners thereof
Just thought the other watches had more compelling stories attached to them and I think there is opportunity to do a video all about them in the future since multiple presidents wore them.
Not quite what you’re talking about here but the vulcain cricket is one of those watches that has been owned by countless presidents. Of course, not the same one but still.
Oh, that’s cool. I didn’t know that! I guess what I mean is, it ‘would’ be cool if there was one watch that was passed ceremoniously from President to President. One single watch that would stand the test of time and be worn by every president. That would be a trip! And it would be interesting to see which watch would be honored to be THE ONE.

More recently Clinton was still wearing a budget digital, not sure if it was the Timex, when promoting his recent book in the UK. I thought it funny that the former President was wearing that while the BBC arts correspondent had a Rolex president on.
