This has nothing to do with the Tekken video game. The actual name of this series is called "Tough". It is a great fighting manga created by Tetsuya Saruwatari. This is the first part of the series when Kiichi is still a teenager. This particular arc, is called "Kokko Tekken Den Tough, the first part of the "Tough" series. The second part where Kiichi becomes an adult is just called "Tough". The actual style he uses is called "Nada shin kage ryu". If you enjoy this, I highly recommend reading the manga it's way better. You can read both parts on mangapanda.com
what some UWF its shoot style pro wrestling which keeps the action in the ring real yet stilll gives the entertainment value to the pro wrestling side of things. So I think that's what this show did was explain the aspect of shoot style pro wrestling
@ApliPi They are referring to different type of professional wrestling, to see something "similar" the anime was based of watch Volk Han vs Tatsuyoshi Kohsaka 2/2 here on youtube, other similar organizations would be "Pancrase" Hybrid Wrestling" with Buss Rutten and Ken Shemrock.
Yep, he's based on French actor Jean Reno. He's shot in the head when he visits his old opponent that he paralyzed in the US, the guy based on Patrick Smith (who passed away in 2019). But it wouldn't matter anyway, as one of my issues with this manga is that they never bring old characters back anyway. Baki is much better in that regard, almost all the characters make new appareances in more recent storylines. In "Tough", old characters are forgotten as soon a new ones arrive on the scene, which kinda sucks. It's still a very good MMA manga, but the it doesn't have a strong cast like Baki.
I'm confused by what the people in this anime mean when they pro wrestling. Some characters are saying it's fake. Do they mean like the WWF? Then they talk about it like it's real, like MMA.
Baki fans would probably love this. I (a Baki fan myself) certainly do.

@flash9tk The manga feels like Baki mixed with a sitcom. At least there's no daddy issues, for the most part.
Too bad the dude with the glasses actually dies in the book

Did they make the "Master" look like an old version of Volk Han on purpose?...
I guess the story implies "Palabra de honor".
